I live in Topeka, Kansas. When Superman answers with "I grew up in Kansas, general", the crowd cheered. :)

Yeah, but there wasn't anything they could've gleaned from her that they couldn't have gotten from Supes himself.

True, but Superman didn't want anyone harmed and did NOT want any trace back to Ma Kent. He surrendered alone and pleaded for Lois's freedom.

When Lois said she'd do it and go on the ship, Supe's face had all kinds of worry because he didn't want harm to anybody else, which was inevitable at that point and picking Lois's brain led to Ma, which is where the coax was located (or so they thought atleast.)

Just got back.

To start with the negatives, this was very much a David Goyer script. And as a David Goyer script, it still contained all the usual Goyer issues (from clunky dialogue to plot mechanics) that drive me up the wall. The pacing was also just really weird (I think the overuse of flashbacks are to blame for that). There were just some unfortunate choices in here.

Positives:

I loved that they went so wild with the look and feel of Krypton. I feel like Grant Morrison will probably appreciate this one more than the Donner version.

I loved Amy as Lois, and I just wish we'd gotten to see more of her relationship with Clark. I felt like that scene at Jonathan's grave should have gone on longer since that was the moment that they first got to know each other. The way it cut so abruptly to the Planet after he told his story made me feel like we were robbed of some seriously key bonding moments between the two of them.

Shannon was great. I particularly appreciated that speech he made about how protecting the Kryptonian people was literally the sole purpose he was created for, and by removing his people, Kal removed his soul. It simultaneously made me able to understand Zod, and drove home Jor-El's arguments against their genetic design from the beginning of the film.

Cavill looks like the perfect Superman to me, and there's really not much else to say. He seemed like a living, breathing, human being this time, which I never got a sense of in SR. Looking forward to seening how his Clark interacts with others at the Planet so we can get a better sense of his personality.

Speaking of the Planet, I loved the 3 supporting characters we got to know there. The scene with the 3 of them when Jenny was trapped in the rubble and they all thought they were about to die was surprisingly effective for me. And I love that Steve Lombard is now in the movie-verse, lol. I always enjoy him in the comics. Laurence Fishburne is a great Perry White, too.

Those action scenes were incredible. And Faora was just awesome.

All the parents were perfect in their roles. Even Costner, whom I usually dislike.

This is the first Superman movie I've enjoyed. It's also the first Zack Snyder movie I've enjoyed, so yay. There's definitely room for improvement in the sequel, starting with getting someone else to re-write Goyer's script, but the foundations here are extremely solid, and I look forward to seeing where it goes from here. On first viewing, I'd give it an 7/10.

The only actor who didn't really pulled this off was Zod. I thought Shannon was terrible in this movie to be honest. He was speechifying his intentions ALL THE ****ING TIME and it didn't help that he sounded like a Star Trek captain talking about "prepare the positron magnitron" or whatever the ****. Faora was much more intimidating; if she had decided to cut off babbling Zod's head off and decided to take over Earth, she'd probably win.

Boy, they must get crazy when things get hot ,eh?

'Begin warming the lubrication...'

'Continue moving at a rhythmic pace...'

And I don't have a problem with the raw idea of Superman killing to save people. He's done it a couple times in the comic books. It's just that in the comic books, he's almost always found another way to win other than killing and lives by that rule, that when he does do it it's profound, cause you know for a fact he had no other choice. If Superman snapping someone's neck had occurred in a 2nd or 3rd film after his no kill rule had been built up, his anguish might have worked better. What I'm saying is I understood the scene, I just didn't feel it. :]

Amd really, if Superman had enough strength to snap Zod's neck, he should have had enough strength to turn his head away and knock him out or something.

Or you know, fly his ass out of there and somewhere there are no civilians. Like I said, I can't believe they made it as far as space and still managed to hit the exact same city coming back.

Like I said, I didn't seem like Lois was necessary for gleaning the information they required with Clark there. It was clear from Zod's mindscape sequence with Supes that the latter was providing them with all the information they needed.

Except, I am not even sure they knew he was going to pass out.

They didn't seem surprised why he was weakened, and it made him susceptible to the interrogation anyway.

I thought the exact same thing. I was waiting for Superman to say something back to him about that.

I really, really enjoyed the movie a lot. Was it perfect? No. But what movie is? Did it deliver what I expected and wanted? Yes. It was exciting. It had heart. Also, finally SUPERMAN PUNCHES SOMEONE (lots of times)!!! I liked how it was the story of the superhero becoming the man, instead of the man becoming the superhero. It wasn't a "dark and gritty"-fied movie, and it wasn't a smug joke fest (which seems to be the preferred tone for a superhero movie this year...).

I had fun watching it, and left very satisfied. The three people who went with me loved it. The audience laughed at the jokes, gasped when certain things occurred, and gave the occasional "**** yeah!" This movie is no Green Lantern, and it is leagues better than that ****fest Iron Man 3. I even liked it a lot more than The Dark Knight Rises (I have never been more let down by a movie than I was by DKR, and my opinion has gotten me a lot of dirty looks). I get some of the criticisms, but I am legitimately flabbergasted by all the hate this movie is getting.

I liked the sort of 'T-100' metallic shape stuff and the floating droids. But I felt those Star Wars Prequel Alien animals felt really out of place.

it's already done. it's in SII. u can rewatch it. to see if it is an anti-climate or not.

I probably would have preferred more spaceships instead of the animals, but it didn't take me out of the new look of Krypton.

Can someone answer me this:

I spotted the Wayne Enterprises logos on the sattelite, but to me, it looked like exactly like the WE logos from Batman Begins and in the TDK trilogy. Am I imagining things? I was expecting the logo to have a new design for this new series.

Yeah, I'll have to watch again, but I'm not sure how much Jor-El filled Superman in on the specifics that particular Kryptonian issue in order for it to even occur to him to say something about it. I kind of like that it was left for the audience to infer, though. It was almost...subtle, which is a rare thing for a Goyer script.

I agree, I think it was the same.

Question: What was the name of Jor-El's flying dog? I didn't catch it; was it Krypto?

Nice catch! Yes, it looked the same to me. But considering how short the scene was I only got the briefest glance s I could easily be wrong.

The names are still a little fresh for me (when I mean fresh, I mean new) but I want to say along the lines of "Kaaikie" or "Haikee." Not sure what I'm trying to hear at the moment. Forgive me if it's nowhere near, my brains fried right now. Need sleep, lol.

As for Wayne Enterprise, it defiantly did resemble TDK Trilogy's logo.

They don't have to do it like SII, just move the superpowered slugfest to the unpopulated regions. People bring up DBZ when comparing the fight scenes, but even Goku and his crew make it a point to move the battles to some deserted location as much as they can.

Okay. I absolutely loved the plot in this film. Not the origin stuff necessarily (though all that was fine and interesting). It was nice to see some real hard science on screen with respect to Krypton and Jor-El.

No what I mean is Zod's plan. It was amazing. Of all the other alien invasion films, I can't think of a single one whose goal was to terraform the earth to repopulate it with another race of aliens. And even if there is another one out there, it worked so well in the context of this film.

The ensuing action was phenomenal. The krypton tech, Zod's minions, Supes vs Zod. All just extremely awesome to behold.

Well done on that front Mr. Snyder.

Snyder actually answered this. It is the same one, and was his way of saying thanks to Nolan. Also to imply that there is a shared universe.

One thing that took me by surprise is that after Superman takes out the gravity device, you FEEL that it has been taken out. There's a peaceful break when it switches back to Perry reaching for Jenny in the rubble.

True. With the "trust" scene at the end, I can see it now:

Batman: "Clark Kent.........can we trust him?"
Emil Hamilton: "Well, he seems to be...." lmao

And you know Zod is still around. So its like the calm before the storm.

Shared universe with a Batman, just not Nolan's Batman. If I'm not mistaken, they have come out and made it very clear that TDKR is self-contained and will not be revisited.

i repeat myself again

Zod manages to control his senses in a matter of days. he can fly in the end! while it takes years for clark to do that.
the longer he stays on, the more powerful he will get! and superman might not have the chance to defeat him! what's more zod has gone senseless and madless after realising he had failed his mission.

n they wanted the destruction happened in the city. they wanted that emotional ending.

if they fight in a deserted area,it would be very anti-climate.

Dude. He saved billions in the process of killing maybe hundreds. Sounds like a pretty fair deal to me. -_-
