enjoyed tom's performance but preferred Kurse over Malkeith and Loki in the movie. Also hope Odin is not dead as that would be seriously underwhelming. it was bad enough losing Frigga who was probably my favourite character from the movie

If Odin is given a recast due to Hopkins opting to not return, it would kind of suck. I mean, can we at least get through a trilogy for a hero where no major characters, or any, are given a recast. I feel like it disrupts the visual continuity.
I think the better strategy would be to kill Odin off screen. But then again an actor like say Michael Gambon, who had the daunting task of replacing Richard Harris, could ablely fill Hopkins shoes.
They should go for the original choice Brian Blessed.
But on another note, I gotta say that for someone who's responsible for killing several people on Earth....if the film's objective was to get people to still find a way to care about Loki, they succeeded, since you just couldn't help but feel sorry for Loki (in a way) when it came to his relationship to his mother and even his complicated one with Thor.
I mean for someone who can be somewhat the evil villain when he chooses to be, the fact that he still had fond memories/feelings for his mother was a interesting layer for the character.

According to the captions of the first Thor movie, the battle between the Jotuns and Asgardians take place in Norway, 965 AD. Around this time, Loki was born.
In Thor 2 the life expectancy was stated to be around 5,000. The average human life in developed countries from what Ive gathered is approximately 82.
Therefore, in human years Loki is somewhere around 17.
#are you telling me loki is just going through his rebellious teenage emo stage

Oh jeez no...I hope you're just joking that he was their original choice. Flashbacks of him in Flash Gordon and his over the top campy performance keep popping up in my head. They're better off with a guy like Michael Gambon. He'd handle the character with more gravitas. I do love Brian Blessed's over the top style but I just could not take him as Odin seriously.
Really loved Hiddleston's performance in this movie. He's done a great job as Loki.
