Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman

I don't see why Superman has to die or be de powered in the show. Let him simply state to Kara that he will only help if she asks for it as he wants her to be her own hero. It's in line with what he did on the web chat to her in the first season anyway.

So that means he would only show up when Kara asked or the **** really hits the fan.
But that line, did not quiet those that think he should be called in on big villains. IMO, the only way you quiet those fans is to put him elsewhere where he is needed, and not able to come in to help. I don't want him to be killed off, I've had enough of that, but "off world" for something huge and he needs her to stay put on earth to protect it would be fine with me.

Hmmmmm..... I don't want him depowered, that would be weird, and pretty much what we had in the season finale which was also kinda weird. So it would just be weird.....in a very weird way. ;)Save</span>

It's EXACTLY what he did in Season 1 at the end of "Fight or Flight".

He showed up in "Myriad" because she physically went looking for him to ask for help.

As far as "quieting the murmurs" goes, it's not the producers'/writers' job to respond to people who, for whatever reason, don't accept the explanations and reasoning they've already been provided with.

Now that he is cast though, he can turn up when needed, no more need to explain his absences. They may need to once or twice, but he can show up more now anyway.

She still has J'onn for support, and Superman knows that.

I gave up on this show last year--the campy nature of the show got grating after a while, especially Calista Flockhart--but the addition of Superman interests me. On one hand, having Superman there inititally annoyed me a little since various anti-Cavill Superman fans were already claiming before an actor was cast that he'd be better than old Henry. Still, Superman was handled so poorly in BvS that I'm itching to see Superman utilized better in some capacity, whether its in a TV show or a movie. I'm not sure about Hoechlin; he was good in Road to Perdition but that was a long time ago and I've only seen him in bit parts since. I guess he kinda has the look? Maybe? He looks more like a young Bruce Wayne to me but then, Bruce and Clark are damn near identical in the comics so... it could work. I just hope that they don't make him a dope who gets his ass kicked repeatedly just so they can prop up Kara more. I know it's her show but Superman should, at the very least, be her equal in terms of power and he should be a little better when it comes to going into battle due to his experience. It annoyed me in that one episode last season where she took on some stupid villain with average abilities that they claimed Superman could never beat.

I don't want them to finally introduce Clark/Superman as an actual character, only for them to kill him off or incapacitate him so he can exit the picture for Kara's glory. That would be totally stupid.

there's no reason why Clark/Superman can't be an actual supporting character who shows up from time to time to give Kara advice or help when needed. Just like other characters like Kara's mom ( Mrs. Danvers ).

Not completely. If done correctly it could finally set this show up for an actual future where Kara isn't constantly being compared to Superman as she has to finally step into his exact place, pull up her boots, and become the only hero.

That said, the writing on this show is sub-par quite a bit (although not Arrow's level of sub-par...) so I could see it coming off as "stupid" if it was poorly done.

What if Superman is simply not allowed to operate anymore, and being a law-abiding citizen, he adheres to those rules. So he doesn't die but still continues to exist, but can't act, leaving it in the hands of Kara.

Or alternatively, what if he's depowered?

Superman is no government stooge if the government tells him stop he would keep doing his thing regardless of what they say.

Agreed. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's what happens.

Actually, there is. Let's be honest: who would want to watch a show about Supergirl if you have Superman popping up every few weeks? That's exactly why we'd most likely never get Batman on Arrow, even if they were allowed to use him.

Unless he's inadvertently been responsible for the deaths of several innocents during a battle resulting in mass destruction, and someone's mother comes up to him and confronts him on the issue. :o

:hehe: but in all seriousness with how big his battles frequently get I wouldn't doubt many people have died while he fights a villain, if there hasn't they have only been saved by the plot convenience put in by the writer.

I thought of a cool way they could have Superman finally show up in the Flash/Arrow verse, and it's basically the way he always makes his debut: Have one or more characters on a plane, maybe fighting a bad guy, and the encounter ends with the plane damaged and plummeting to the ground. There's no way to save it, until a red-blue blur streaks past the window and delivers the plane safely to the ground. You could have GL show up the exact same way of course, and with Hal in particular you'd have the added visual of using his ring to fill in the pieces of the plane that have fallen off while taking the controls and leveling out the descent.

Hmmmmm..... Supergirl Pilot comes to mind.

As far as Green Lantern, if he ends up showing up....I want it to be Alan Scott, not Hal.

I feel the same way about the idea of killing of Superman in Supergirl. The film and TV people now each have their own Supermen and I hope they can find independent uses for Superman without copying each other.

Did this earlier. Difficult to know which supersuit to use as a base. I toned down the muscles a little and changed the S slightly to be more similar to the Supergirl one.

I just realized, I don't think I've seen Hoechlin clean-shaven since Road to Perdition.

Liking the old school there Kel. But...not a lot of people know Alan Scott was the first GL. Hal Jordan or for that matter Kyle Rayner or John Stewart is some generation's GL (me I am the Hal Jordan era myself). Now in the "Rebirth" series there is a female GL, Jessica Cruz.

I'm talking the New 52 Alan Scott.....he is gay in the comics, and since that is something that they have been talking about, I think that would be a great addition to the cast.

I don't want Alan on the Supergirl earth. I want him to exist in the same Earth as Jay Garrick.

He can pop up on Supergirl eventually but he should be introduced either on The Flash of Legends of Tomorrow along with the rest of the JSA

That said, Alan would be the number one character I would like to see in this CWverse

He just seems so obvious. I need Hal and Alan in this universe. They both totally belong

If we can have ****ing Superman we can do Hal and Alan. Come on

Both of them have - recently - been confirmed to NOT be appearing so
