Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman

Sorry about that. Batman joining the CW are rumors for sure but CW having to negotiate with Fox if they want him isn't a rumor. That was what I was trying to explain.

I saw this too. Apparently Fox has the TV rights to Batman, but Warner Bros. has the right to anytime pay a licensing fee to use him in other TV media.

Says you, completely without being able to provide a source for said claim.

This is getting us nowhere, though, so I'm moving on.

Why would I lie? Seriously, if you don't believe me look it up yourself.

But yeah, let's not derail this thread any more than we already have. Enjoy your day.

One of many articles that discusses the TV deal with the Batman rights between Fox and Warner Brothers. Here's a few more:

But who said the quotes....I see stuff in quotes, but no where does it say who said it. I think that is where the questioning of validity is coming from....

The only person to be named in any of the quotes is Guggenheim...

The only thing that really tells us anything is...

Guggenheim’s comments on Batman seem to contradict earlier comments by Arrow producer Andrew Kreisberg. “There are things we can do, and there are things we can’t,” he said last year. “[T]here are cities we can use, and then there’s everything else. You won’t be hearing Gotham or Metropolis on the show anytime soon.”

Well, we know that Metropolis has been mentioned.....

None of these things contain the passages that VelcroWallet put in quotation marks.

Also, it's his/her responsibility to provide a source for said quotation-marked passages, not yours or anyone else's. He/she clearly can't or won't, which renders his/her claims regarding what it would take for Batman or related characters to appear on Supergirl in light of the licensing agreement that was given to FOX completely baseless.

I'm done arguing about this, though.

I mean, it is fairly logical. Fox is paying a significant amount of money for the top shelf Batman names. I think if you are paying a lot, you may want to insure that you are the only one using them.

^ Maggie Sawyer would presumably fall under Gotham's licensing agreement, and yet we're seeing her on Supergirl.

Ra's al Ghul, Nyssa al Ghul, the League of Assassins, and Katana would also presumably fall under the banner of said licensing agreement, and yet we saw every single one of them appear on Arrow AFTER said licensing agreement was agreed to.

The evidence paints a pretty clear picture: WB can clearly still allow others to use Batman-related characters even in light of the licensing agreement they signed with FOX for Gotham.

This is the TYLE HOECHLIN IS SUPERMAN thread, can you guys please have the Batman right convo elsewhere

This. Barely anything for the last page has been about Superman. Why does Batman have to take over every thread?

OK people....this is a done conversation. Back to Tyler and Superman....

Is this Superman going to save cats in trees and be the champion of little kids like the Christopher Reeve version? Even Supergirl seems to be that kind of hero here, so I would hope Superman is more like that than the remote and transcendent figure that Henry Cavill is who seems detached from humanity.

The EPs and writers seem to be big fans of the Donner Superman, so I have a feeling that is what we will be seeing....along with a much more "shake hands of the populace" kind of superhero, even more so than Supergirl is.... just a feeling. She has been told to keep her identity in check, as a DEO agent that is probably reinforced....whereas Clark has had none of that. ALSO, I have a feeling that her working for the DEO is where the "edge" is going to come in their relationship. Clark has had "nothing" to do with the government, the fact that Kara is working for them will most definitely rub him the wrong way.

I hope so. They need to get as far away from the Snyder Superman as they can.

Man, I bet half the questions Hoechlin is going to get is about his butt during promotional stuff for the new season.:woot:

He'll be the butt of jokes. :o

I think his butt is a fine conversation piece..... ;)

so far the only thing I'm not liking about the costume is the cape attachment but I don't dislike it enough to complain . It still has a very regal look about it which suits Superman as a character . Tyler isn't the biggest guy ever but he is in tremendous shape and his height at 6 foot isn't a problem . The problem comes from having someone 6'4" playing Jimmy . Even that can be worked around though. I've also liked the idea that yes Superman can move planets but he doesn't look like he could . Sure he should be in great shape but not a body builder because his strength doesn't come from the size of his muscles but the earths yellow sun . Reeve was tall but not overly muscle bound . Tyler was a great in Road to Perdition , even though he was a child I highly doubt much has changed ( never seen to much of teen wolf ). I like his look though . It's modern but really captures the old school superman look which I love . I like Cavill but it would be hilarious if Tyler's portrayal was raved about and one could always hope for a spin off . Which that may be wishful thinking but we have two versions of The Flash now . I'd love a weekly Superman show that captured the spirit of Superman as a hopeful and caring character standing up to the threats of metropolis . Here's to hoping for the best
