Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman

In a way, I don't mind him being late-20's. Just about every Superman actor that has played him so far has been mid to late-20's.

As far as Supergirl's Superman being older (was that ever established?), couldn't they always retcon that?

They could, but it'd be pretty awkward and unnecessary.

Hasnt comic book superman always been like 20s or 30s in age?

Most of the depictions of Superman that I'm familiar with have portrayed the character between 30 and 35 years of age, which is also the age range of Hoechlin's Superman in-universe (he's about 36 years old according to the series' internal chronology).

Usually, yes. I think the post-Rebirth Superman is around 35. SG's Superman is probably 37 at this point.

^ He's around 36 in the Berlantiverse Supergirl world, because it's been 12 years since Kara arrived on Earth, and she got here when Supes was 24. 24 + 12 = 36.

He was at least a year or close to it when landed on earth...so 36-37 is a correct age range.

Yes, thank you, I can do math. :oldrazz:

He was 36 at the start of the series, but the first year of the show took place over...well...a year. So he's most likely 37 at this point. But like Kelly said, 36 - 37 is the right age range.

Kara is still 24 by the time that Season 1 finishes, and we don't know when Clark's birthday is, so you can say for certain that he's not still 36.

He had been on earth since he was a baby....she was in the Phantom Zone for 24 years....MEANING, when she finally made it to earth, she was still 12, and he was at least 24...soooooo, now 12 years later, that would make him at least 36. BUT......it has nothing to do with the #, it has everything to do with his look (IMO, he looks older, mainly because she looks younger than her actual age), AND.....how he is written. So there is no need for a retcon, nor will they do that....the first episode is going to go straight from the finale.

Well then, I apologize. I didn't catch the first half of the show.

And you can't say for certain that he is, so here we are. :yay:

^ Based on what we know, he's more likely to still be 36 by the time of the events of Myriad than he is to NOT be 36 by the time of said events.

But we won't see him until season two, which will probably take place months after season one, which would put him closer to, if not right at, 37. So...again...36 - 37, but probably 37.

It doesn't sound like there is in fact going to be a time jump between seasons, at least not at the beginning of The Adventures of Supergirl.

I'm curious to see how the suit will look on him as Superman is it classic or new 52?

I think it is probably going to be a combination....I haven't heard if Coleen Atwood will be the one designing the suit or not, but if it is, she likes to do a combination of classic and new, so it may be a combination of those.

LOL, maybe they'll go "Smallville" with this and only show him from the neck up when he's wearing the suit. ;)

Hmmmmmmm.....since they showed Supergirl in suit within the first 30 minutes of the pilot.......don't see that happening. :cwink:

Supergirl's outfit is pretty classic, with the modern influences being either compulsory (materials) or relatively irrelevant (the tights/stockings, the design of the shield, and so on and so forth). I expect mostly the same for Superman.

Personally, I hope whoever designs the costume comes up with a clever way of breaking up the blue of the suit. So far, only MOS/DOJ and 1I]SV Season 11[/I] have done it to my satisfaction.

I am not an expert on all of the suits throughout the years of Supergirl and Superman, never will claim to be....I'm just going by how Coleen described what she did with the Supergirl suit....and she described as a combination of the classic, with new. So, I couldn't tell you which was what, except of course it is obvious that the skirt is more of the classic, and no midriff, etc...those things are pretty easy to pick out. But, I agree, it does seem much more of the classic than new in the case of Supergirl.

For the Supergirl costume, the only real point of reference was a +30-year-old movie. And on that basis, the TV version looks pretty good. On the other hand, Hoechlin’s Superman costume will undoubtedly be compared to Cavill’s. That’s a tougher contest. :word:

This is an alternation I made onto an actual fanart, but maybe this could work for Superman's suit on Supergirl. Simple, on its own yet connected to Supergirl's costume. Maybe keep the buckle, but make the belt red; and yes the "S" isn't the real "S", so just imagine the classic on it; but, maybe the red an blue can be for Supergirl while the classic red and yellow can be specifically for Superman.

This is just a suggestion, but what do you guys think?

Also, when will we see the real suit?

I have a feeling we will be seeing "something" in the next week or two...but this group always surprises me, so they may hold out until the premiere, but something tells me they won't and we may see a BTS of the 1st episode like we did with the First season....

They tend to release a picture of new suits before spy photos show up.
