How about YES

Especially since these things can cause more rifts between those making these and us, and fans from those who just want to enjoy what they give us. Also, comments like these are related to fanboys so bad that it gives fans bad names. And why I sometimes disconnect myself from the fanbase.

Then block me otherwise I don't do conformity very well

Some of you are new to this forum....we like to keep a positive vibe around here.

What I mean by that is ... NO, you don't have to only say positive things, you are open to give your opinions whether you like what you see or you don't.

HOWEVER, we do need to keep a positive vibe among ourselves as we discuss things like this...

So with that said, let's keep our comments to the subject at hand, disagree when you feel the need to disagree, but stay away from the personal comments toward one another.

WE CAN disagree, agree to disagree, and keep it positive.

A message from your friendly neighborhood Admin.

Thank you! :)

Awesome.

I just hope that if Tyler does well in his portrayal of Superman that he'll be allowed to eventually crossover with the other heroes from the Arrowverse.

I mean it's not uncommon for other main characters, aside from the titular hero (Arrow/Flash), to take a visit onto another CW-DCTV show.

It would feel like such a wasted opportunity to not allow Tyler's Superman, especially if he ends up being decent/good/great, to appear alongside the likes of The Flash and Arrow....particularly the first option (Flash) since Grant is a big fan of Superman.

I don't want him on Arrow. Guggenheim would just have him looking bad next to Felicity like everybody else.

If Superman crossed over to arrow, they'd probably have him fall in love with felicity like every other superhero.

Anyone ever thought that one day we'd see Superman shorter than Jimmy Olsen?

I never thought I'd see the day when Jimmy Olsen was something other than:

- A redheaded youngster, late teens to early 20s;
- A cub reporter/photographer for the Daily Planet;
- Using his nickname instead of his given name;

and heaven forbid...

- Have a bit of a growth spurt where he may actually be taller than his proverbial 'pal'?

But here we are.

Please, everyone, let's not forget: "Supergirl" is, and always will be, an adaptation of a nearly 60-year-old character, who is part of a nearly 80-year-old mythology. Which means TPTB are free to work with the characters as they see fit, even if it means changing the origin/gender/race of a popular character.

:wowe:

I could care less about the size difference. And who knows, Kal-El may be above average for a Kryptonian...

I hope he does crossovers on his own. So far, he's only on for two episodes, and there's a lot of hype being built for such a small showing. I would hate for people to build themselves up, and then be disappointing if he's only on for three episodes out of the season.

That's one of the reason why I hope he gets his own show, because obviously people want to see a lot of him. But just at the opposite end of the week from Supergirl...:cwink:

And whether this was planned or not, CW has opened up a 'can of hope' all over the place! We see the classic superheroes being brought to life, and we want more. We want the full pantheon of superheroes and all their assorted villains!

I just hope they can carry through on what they've inadvertently done.

My personal feelings...
:jd:

In the TV series...it is for the House of El, and and the family moto El May Arah! "Stronger Together".

Speaking of which, Kelly, did you notice that's become the campaign motto for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine? ;)

I too would like to see Superman interact some with the other heroes. They say they will do a Supergirl crossover....it would be cool to see Superman in one too.

I'm just a bit annoyed that the these superhero shows are getting rid of all the gingers. Jimmy Olsen, Wally West, Hawkgirl. Heck, even Roy Harper. But the latter had such an uncanny resemblance to the Young Justice version, that I could forgive the lack of red hair.

Definitely!

The character has grown. Superman is cemented in Metropolis culture, and he's probably already in a relationship with Lois. Time has passed for them, and Jimmy cannot be a wet-nosed cub/photographer forever. He has to grow to, and part of that might be trying to leave that nerdy-ish past behind.

Assuming that the two episodes featuring Superman turns out to be a ratings bonanza, I assume the show runners will certainly want to return to that well somewhat frequently. However, at the risk of putting Supergirl in the background of her own show, how would that be successfully done? If Superman is given his own spinoff (unlikely?), that would certainly be a deathblow to Supergirl... right?

How many appearances by big blue is too much in a season?

I am honestly shocked that people even give a rat's patoot about Jimmy Olsen. He is a tertiary character.

I don't see how a Superman spin-off would be a death blow to Supergirl. The two shows would be intertwined, Kara would guest on his show too, and if anything, many of the more numerous viewers who would tune into a Superman show and not Supergirl would be inclined to check out Supergirl to see more of this Superman and that world. The same reason many Buffy viewers (like myself) felt the need to watch Angel even if they didn't like his character so much (and I ended up loving that show and finding Angel far more interesting on it). It makes the viewing experience feel more complete. AND it would take off the pressure to have him always appearing on Supergirl and taking the spotlight from her.

That's the problem I'm hoping doesn't happen. Whether by them or by us, he's getting hype that's equal to a steady, weekly character. But he's not. And thinking of that, I wonder how many episodes he's contracted for? Is it just two, or have they left it open depending on his favorability?

Which to judge is high.

I like Superman, but I don't want to see Superman-creap pushing Supergirl out the door.

Only with Superman and Lois. There he's a third-wheel.

On Supergirl, he is Lois Lane!

The expanded multiverse and potential for crossovers (Flash, 90s Flash, Vixen, Constantine, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl) is the only thing that keeps me watching Arrow.

I don't think they'd be able to do a Superman spin off but it definitely wouldn't hurt the other shows if they did.

The only real risk is oversaturation, but with new DC shows still getting ordered and renewed I don't think we're in danger of that right now. Maybe 3-5 years from now will be different.

So within 3 to 5 years is the best time to hit it! While the iron is hot and all.

Yes I did :)

You might just be better than me in this regard. I am not so sure I can stomach another season of Arrow. Even with Supergirl (possibly Superman?) and the others doing cross overs. I suppose I could just tune in for the crossover eps.

Here's hoping we'll see Tyler's Superman have a moderately sized role in the upcoming CW annual crossover this coming December.
