Uncanny Avengers

I take it all with a grain of salt anymore.

In the this week's issue of Captain America, Remender "killed" Sharon Carter but it's obviously B.S. There was no body, no nothing. At the start of Avengers Arena, Mettle was killed off. Nico was killed off for 1 issue and came right back. The whole thing has been revealed to be some V.R. trap anyway and all the young heroes are stuck in cocoons.

Wait, what? I must have missed that... when was it revealed? Could you elaborate?

I've been skimming that title while looking for any indication that all these deaths have been "not real" but hadn't noticed anything yet.

Same here. I just skim it like I do many books I don't buy so I can try to stay up on current events. :hehe:

I think it was the issue with Hank Pym. At the end it showed that all of the kids are trapped in some V.R. cells or something in a dingy looking basement. Arcade was watching over them.

Another thing I noticed with the current issue was Hazmat chasing a vision of Mettle through the jungle. I'm guessing the software program running this battle simulator is starting to show some cracks. He's really alive in the cell but dead in the VR, so he ends up appearing like a ghost.

I read AA and if you read the latest issue including the letters column you'd know what you just said is not in the least bit true (at the moment).

You guys are talking about issue number 12 and for all we know those could be more LMD's like Mettle was in issue 13.

Nah, I skipped the letters column. I just look at the pretty pictures. :o

So they're LMD's involved.....? Hmmmm.....:hmm

I'll be honest though....I bashed this book when it was first announced but after thumbing through pretty much every issue, it seems like it's pretty heavy on the interpersonal relationships that have been formed on the fly due to this situation their in. It seems like it's working well and I plan on getting it in trades at some point.

Yeah, Arcade uses a pretty advanced LMD that can't be detected through any means that Hank came up with. He has all of the kids personality's perfectly programed into them too. He's really thought this whole thing out.

It's been pretty good so far. The relationship are pretty interesting. Nico's storyline was pretty epic in my opinion. It's coming up on the end of Part 1 in a few more issues. If I'm not mistaken #14 is part one of the End Game arc. What comes next may be a different book but a continuation, don't know.

I only hope Marvel continues with the Avengers Academy story or something that's a continuation of it. As much as I like Avengers Arena, Avengers Academy was better.

As much as I'm glad Marvel isn't really slaughtering it's D-List heroes, that seems like kind of a copout.

At the start of AvX (before I knew of Uncanny Avengers), I was thinking it would be cool for Kitty Pryde to join the Avengers. She served as the "face" of mutantkind in Whedon's Astonishing X-Men, so I thought it would be interesting to see her play a similar role in Avengers.

I'm really surprised Beast wasn't picked for the team from the start. Quicksilver is another with ties to both, of course.

After his return, I feel like it would be fun to see Nightcrawler interact with Thor in UA. I feel like they could have an interesting dynamic.

Agreed. Avengers Arena has been great and one of my favorite Marvel Now books. Was very surprised by this title, expected to hate it. Looking forward to what Hopeless follows AA with.

Nico and Chase are two of my favorite characters so it's been awesome to see them included in something. Was also Cool to see Molly and Karolina show up for an issue. Don't think we've seen much of them together besides those few Avenger Academy issues. I demand a new Runaways book! :argh:

Molly will be in the "Battle of the Atom" story going on right now in the X-books.

Just caught up with that. Glad to see they are using those characters a bit more.

I thought Maria was Hill was kind of a d*** to Pym. I want another Runaways book.

During Avengers Academy (LOVE that series) and Avengers Arena the Runaways showed up and I was dumbfounded because I felt like I was supposed to know them even though I had never read about them before in any of my titles I had been collecting on and off over the years. On one of the videos we shot for our web show, A Comic Book Look, my friend who was guesting on the show totally put me in my place, pointing out that there are books out there of the Runaways. I am currently reading through a seven book series of their origin and am loving it so far. Once that is completed I'll probably have to re-read the cameos they made in Avengers Academy and then do Avengers Arena one more time. I'm big on character connections and love learning about new corners and pockets of the Marvel Universe. Anyone know of any awesome cameos the Runaways have made in other titles besides Avengers Academy/Arena that you'd recommend? Let me know.

Thanks!,

Jon (of aCBL)

I don't know what trades you're reading, but they also had two minis alongside the Young Avengers... one taking place during Civil War and the other during Secret Invasion. I know they also guest stared in Dagon's comic toward the end (Wolverine's son).

UNCANNY AVENGERS #15
RICK REMENDER (W) • STEVE MCNIVEN (A/C)
• After the numerous deaths last issue the Avengers Unity Squad is left shattered and broken.
• The fate of humanity rests in the hands of Thor, but can the God of Thunder defeat the combined might of two Apocalypses?
• At the same time The Wasp fights for her life against the unparalleled might of The Sentry!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

numerous deaths does not sound promising

Thor vs. Two Apocalypses, on the other hand, sounds very friggin' promising.
especially drawn by Mcniven??
That should be one of the prettiest battles ever

Sunfire, Wanda, Wonder Man and a few of the dead Avengers/Horsemen I'll bet. But then again with the Life Seeds out there linked to Apocalypse related stories, who knows what deaths will last and what ones won't....

very true, not to mention the time travel nonsense
knowing Remender, I'm sure most of the deaths will be reversed rather quickly
maybe one'll stick

Knowing any writer, deaths get reversed quick but if anyone has read the Dark Angel Saga (which this book is built off of) knows that there's always been a life/death theme running through the story.
