I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but does anyone notice some similarity? :cwink:

Yeah, but I still think it's silly that his biceps and forearms are bigger than his head, or that his lower body is so small compared to the rest of him...

That's weird...because in the pics we've seen, Venom is a huge mofo; how is he going to be manipulative with that size? I would just assume he'll just beat the crap out of Spidey instead.

There is no doubt that Venom will stomp a mudhole into Spidey. But that is no excuse why he Eddie/Venom can't be manipulative, the evil is a given. From the circumstances, with Eddie & Peter being friends I can see this especially being effective. And apparently, if the Invisible Hand tells us anything, Gwen Stacy just might get into the mix as well. The writers have completely revamped Eddie Brock/Venom, and they're the ones who have said this. Since the Spectacular Spider-Man has been so successful, why wouldn't this work out?

I've always been a fan of the look of Venom, and the concept of Venom, but the story behind Venom was always lacking character. "Spectacular" is the first version of Venom
to make Brock a sympathetic character. We actually get an emotional attachment to Eddie.

616 Brock was a pathetic pompous jerk who F'ed up his own career and wanted to commit suicide. NOT a reason for a lifelong murderous grudge. They tried to "fix" it by adding the cancer and ex-wife, but too little, too late.

Ultimate Spidey was a tad more, with the parents/friendship angle, but again, Brock was a pompous jerk.

Spidey 3 had the BEST Brock, but poor execution of Venom. The Gwen Stacy romance, the competition between Parker, and the mental breakdown at the Church were great, but Venom should have kidnapped both Gwen and MJ, making Parker choose, and Gwen getting murdered, and Venom blaming Spidey for her death. Venom would NEVER team up to defeat Spider-Man. He doesn't need to.

Spectacular so far is slowly paving the way for a PERFECT fall from grace for Brock. The conners incident, Peter's treatment of Gwen, etc... I think Gwen's death will be the final straw for Brock's snapping. Gwen's death would be a great reason for Venom to forever hunt Spidey.

Well, I think Venom has always been very interesting and I am a huge Venom fan, but I am defenitley willing to admit that he doesn't have as huge of a story as other Spidey Villians. That's why in the films and in this show, they added more to him and expanded him out a little bit more. I love Venom from the comics and in this show and in the films because they just add more to him and it makes another reason for him being so interesting.

Nice post, but I will have to disagree on a few notes. I thought the execution of Venom was good in SM3; it just wasn't long enough. Maybe he had Sandman there mostly to take care of the police and military.

I agree with you for the most part. But is it necessary to have Gwen killed in the first season? I think that seems almost...overkill. I mean, I might be a little silly to argue for subtlety in a comic book franchise, but...I think honestly there are already enough inherent stressors on Brock to cause him to "snap," especially since the Symbiote would dampen inhibitions to violence. Plus, I would personally feel that Gwen's death was a bit too rushed (on another--yet related--subject, I feel that Norman Osborn is wonderful, but I don't think that he's developed enough to transition to Green Goblin so soon).

The picture, lol, dang.

I guess I have to be like...very-detailed when I speak?

Everyone loves Little Foot. He is incredibly relevant to threads about Venom.

So far i love how the show is paving the way for Venom, its gonna be interesting to see him go up against SM in this show, i still have issues with the design but hopefully the voice acting and everything around the design with lead to perfection. Cant wait to see Venom!

You basically summed it up pretty well. Gwen's death would make as a solid reason for hating Pete but that would be too quick. Still, I believe that Venom will deliver a spectacular end to the first season.

Based on what Greg has stated what he would like to do, I bet Gwen wont even die at all in the show until the straight to DVDs in college.

I think that's what'll, too. I mean, besides, they are msot likely going to go in depth with her death in the straight to DVD's.

as long as the character is portrayed right i dont mind the animation, and i dont think todd mcfarlanes venom would work so well.:sym:
