Venom Revamp

I doubt they would do something like that he is probably going to be in the full episode 13 and have a few fights with peter.

that's what I think. he'll have it for 3 episodes and Venom just 1.
but maybe we get to see Venom only in the last minute of the season.

God, I hope not. I want Venom in at least 2 episodes for season 1. Not just a ASM 299-like appearance in episode 12 and a full fledge episode in 13.

I can safely say Eddie Brock is one of the best things about this show.

His slowly growing resentment towards Peter Parker is really benefitting the series. While I liked the dopplenganger take on the character used in SM3 (and underused there), it was merely padding on a contrived character. This take of them being friends and starting out as a genuine nice guy is working really well (even if it is somewhat of a page from Harry's playbook).

On the other hand, I think they really ****ed up Doc Ock in this series and Norman Osborn is too much post-Mackie. Even though he worked for Wilson Fisk (as opposed to Tombstone) in TAS, he still had some humanity there before he became GG. Oh well.

But the revamp of Venom's character is nothing short of great. Now will the actual execution of the character be better than the Alien Suit Saga on TAS? I do not know yet, but this is the first time Eddie Brock has been a good and sympathetic character.

If you mean the shy, sympathetic Otto, he's not Doc Ock yet. He becomes Ock due to a sabotaged experiment in episode 8, Reaction. He'll be the tentacled badass we all know and love.:cwink:

I saw pics of Venom last week for this series. Cheeks does a great job on all these characters and I can't wait to see Venom in action.

We'll see. He just seems like he'll be a nerdy inferior-complex type villain who mumbles a lot. Doc Ock is supposed to be loud, boastful arrogant and suffering from a god complex more than any other Spidey villain, really.

i think the 90's TAS has had the best version of Brock so far, and i have trouble seeing SSM's Venom being better either. The first Venom episode in the 90's was perfect, i don't think this one will get anywhere near there

I agree
90's Venom was really compelling. he proved himself superior to Spidey in any level. was stronger than him, faster, unmasked him, threatened him, MJ and Aunt May. Peter was afraid of him. he started to see Venom everywhere.
in the final of the episode he even said that Venom was the most dangerous and implacable opponent he ever had.
now let's wait and see if Spectacular Venom can top that.

We've been shown a lot of re-designs of the characters...maybe Venom will get a re-design that makes him look more evil?

We've already seen Venom's design. It kind of looks silly IMHO, he doesn't even have human proportions: his tongue is bigger than his mouth!

Yeah but never THAT big. And he looks kind of like a Gorilla with the symbiote on, not Brock with it on.

Anyone see that one pic where Venom has a super long tongue? I don't think I've ever seen it that long! Me like! :woot:

I'll be honest, I think Venom looked better in his first two appearances by McFarlane. Before Larsen came in and added the extended jaw, tongue and drool.

Yes, it's always been big. IMO, there is no problem with the size of his tounge.

Yes, before Larsen decided to give Venom the Fruit by the Foot tongue and infinite crooked teeth, McFarlane's Venom had a normal tongue and normal, sharp fangs. Larsen ****ed Venom up, and Bagley fixed him again. Venom did not always have the Peter Simmons tongue. The exaggerated tongue, the abstract symbiote eyes, the jigsaw teeth, the elongated jaw, and the crazy-****** dool came to us by Larsen, who claims he did it because he didn't like Venom, yet the fans thought it was cool. Thank you, McFarlane, for giving us the best Venom EVAR! And thanks, Bagley, for adding your awesome touches.

I know, and I as I have said, Macfarlanes' Venom rules!!!

MacFarlane also drew a creepy looking smile on his Venom that I couldn't help but love.

I like Langleys as much as I do McFarlane's...McFarlane's was great, but I liked the addition of the tongue...it gave him that extra creep factor and separation from Spider-Man.

Anyone know if SSM is being aired in Australia? I haven't seen it anywhere.

One part of that newer Venom I never liked was the green slime coming from his mouth.

Personally, I am happy to see Eddie Brock being completely recreated for the Spectacular Spider-Man. As much as I am a fan of 616 Venom, it's good to see that Eddie Brock and Peter Parker have had past interactions. This way it strengthens the grudge that Eddie/Venom will undoubtedly have. I see that that they've taken various elements from 616/Ultimate Spider-Man/Spider-Man 3 and are mixing it up with an interesting spin. I'll say it's rather refreshing and we may get another wonderful incarnation of Venom. I remember in the Podcast they said that when things start to get sour between Peter and Eddie that it will be heartbreaking, especially when he becomes Venom. I wonder what is going to happen, what will be the final straw which sets Eddie Brock off?

I love Eddie Brock in this show. I mean, I love his 616 story, his Spider-Man 3 story and now this story just is so interesting as well. We saw happy Eddie in the first two episodes and then in Natural Selection at the end, he was a bit angry. Brock seems to be losing it and I think it's just going to get worse and worse for him. That's one of the great and interesting things about his character so far.
