Visualizing A Superman Reboot: Pictures Welcome - Part 1

And no. I dont want to see the movie opening on Krypton at all. Too much like STM, imo. He should be shown about his origin later in the movie by Lex or Brainiac or whatever. I like the idea that Superman doesnt know where he comes from in the beginning.

Would you be satisfied if the only object/factor that they present in the first film that relates to Superman's/Clark's origins from outer space is of him and the Kents having a scene that involves looking at the spaceship that they've kept hidden?

They easily have the Superman emblem presented dominantly on the ship, where it would lead to Clark or Martha gaining the inspiration to place that on his shirt.

Yeah! Like the Kents finding Clark and telling him he is from another planet, like the scene in secret origins, could be all we get, imo. I personally want to see more of Smallville and him being raised cause we never saw that on film. I really wanted to see something like Superman for all seasons with the Tornado or him the sunset scene with Pa Kent.

well we already know this movie will feel nothing like the previous incarnations and personally, i never really think of STM when i read Birthright. if they're going to address the birth of Kal-El, i'd rather they do it at the beginning of the movie rather than in the middle. the way it was handled in Birthright was PERFECT imo.

i honestly don't like the idea of Superman finding out his origins from a villain. that's one of the few things i didn't like about Birthright. i like how Secret Origins handled Clark finding out about his Origins. to me it makes more sense for Clark to know himself fully, BEFORE he becomes Superman.

but even if they go the route of revealing to Superman his origins through a villain, that doesn't mean they can't show the destruction of Krypton in the beginning. they can still intro the movie Birthright style and not have him know about about his origins when they first show Clark.

Lone...i love the ideas in your posts except for 2 things. the Birthright intro for the movie intro is PERFECT. i've said before that it perfectly parallels the opening for the latest Star Trek film and should be just as energetic...so i would also like for the title screen to be handled the same way. i don't want the titles at the VERY beginning of the movie, but i love the way Star Trek handled it. intro scene to grab your attention, THEN the title screen.

also the ending for Birthright is so epic and tearjeaking that i love the idea of it being the ending for this film. however, i think there should be a scene or 2 with a resolution and winding down. i think Birthright did it perfectly. show him trying to talk to his parents and make it seem like it was hopeless, show what happens afterward (with Metropolis, Lois, Clark, etc. after the climactic battle) then just as you think the credits are about to role with a black screen....there's a rumbling sound and we're back the beginning with Jor-El and Lara and the ending you posted.

BUT for the most part i agree with your idea for the intro and outro and pray to all the gods that we'll see something similar.

I was actually thinking the same thing but I couldn't find scans of the aftermath online so I had to make do.:O

I just really hope the movie ends in such a way that will leave a lingering/lasting impression on the audience.

Yeah, totally drew him in Adventure comics...

Not Reeve, but this kinda Superman: Charming, smiling, friendly, charismatic and confident.

Goddamn this picture... Gary Frank probably looks at this all day to make sure he draws Superman with no upper lip...

What do you mean we never saw that? We had Smallville and him using his speed powers inSTM, and we had him discover flight in SR... If you're looking for more, watch Smallville maybe? There's 10 years of discovery...

Unless the tornado is a stand alone flashback, I think they need to stay the hell away from Smallville power discovery....

And Jeph Loeb's a hack, Superman for All Seasons was not good, period.

I like this thread because it allows me to look up and post scenes like this... Krypton. It’s a realistic approach to an advanced civilization. I know people are going to want more of happy go lucky style but this (at least for me) fits the direction I feel this film is going based on Snyder's "real world" and "serious actors" talk in interviews.

I like how for Krypton people can just post pics from SW movies Coruscant. No manip skills needed for Krypton concept art :D

Ain't it cool? Besides who has the time for that? :cwink: Especially in my case where art is on canvas and sketch pads.

LOL, no target for that comment meant. I've seen SW pics referenced for years in regards to Krypton conceptual art.

These photos are making me think that George Lucas should design Krypton. And then everyone should be sure that's all he does.

they should fashion the poster after this... (minus the obvious "900" hehe)

I like the MAN OF STEEL concept for poster. That would be bold. I don't like that specific artist rendering in terms of style. The concept though? Good idea.

*bumping* in light of the recent news/rumor that Kryton will look similar to Coruscant...this is probably similar to what they have in mind...

Given Snyder's taste for worlds such as that (fantasy), I'm sure it's one thing that he'll definitely be comfortable with handling, along with something that I'm sure that he'll achieve correctly.

This (Krypton being like SW Coruscant) was about as obvious as popcorn with butter.

yeah...the shots we've seen of Asgard (Thor) were already pretty damn epic and that movie is done on a $150 million budget. if the rumored $200 million budget for this movie is true then Krypton should look like the stuff made of legends!

Speaking of which, I actually wonder if they'll give an explanation as to why with all of that technology available to them, that no one had tried to leave the planet when the final earthquakes/tremors began?

I would love for there to be a spoken Kryptonian language with subtitles.

And those Birthright scenes would be A-Mazing on screen.
