WB/DC: It's All Part Of The Plan

Where exactly are the figures to say it sold well on DVD, here (England) it was in the bargain bin faster than the Ashley Cole book. Play.com even sold it as part of a one day sale for £1.50 and it never made it in to the top 100 sale of the day. IMO Superman has almost a purely American fanbase, the rest of the world don't give a ****. He's no Fernando Torres
Here you are: http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=4979

However, you are absolutely correct, in that those figures are only for America. I think the rest of the world must have very pinched pockets (and a good eye for a bargain :cwink:).

Some people are saying that Kevin Smith changed his mind because he "has been bought off."
So the question is: Why would Warner Bros. "let" Kevin Smith trash the movie for two years, then pressure him to support Singer when they never bothered to do so before? They wouldn't, but let's say they did pressure Smith to support Bryan Singer. Why would they? The only answer I can come up with is that they were bringing Singer back and wanted someone with "geek cred" to support him. If they weren't bringing Singer back, why would they bother with Smith when they never did before. If they were replacing Singer, then it would not benefit Warner Bros. for Smith to vouch for Singer.

I think you're reading way too much into that IGN article. WB doesn't "own" Smith - he's never made a film under em for that matter. All the times we've heard Smith trash Superman Returns (pretty-damn funny I might add), he never once went after Routh.

The dude's a fan of Singer's X-Men films and working with Routh on Zack & Miri Make a Porno might have "won him over" to his Supes.

Anne Thompson at Variety chatted up producer Thomas Tull at Legendary Pictures before the run-up to Comic-Con. Legendary is, of course, the mini-studio behind 'The Dark Knight', 'Watchmen' and the planned sequel'Superman: The Man of Steel'.

Thompson reports that Legendary is hearing pitches from screenwriters on where to go next with Superman.

"It's an iconic character," says Tull. "After everything that went into the first film, it's important to make sure that nothing is rushed and we come out with a fantastic second film."

The prevailing wisdom seems to be that the Man of Steel face a "worthy opponent," in the follow up.

Bryan Singer is still mentioned as being the director of choice. The article refutes rumors that Louis Leterrier may be a contender for the franchise. The 'Incredible Hulk' director is currently focused on Ledendary's 'Titans' movie.

At least this is some news.

I totally disagree with this.

The problem is that the production budget was to large. Lower it for the sequel, plus add more action and a powerful supervillain plus a decent story, and I'm sure MOS will do better than SR. That's what people really want to see, and the sequel CAN accomplish that. SR is a good movie and a lot of people liked it, it's just that some people like to bash it constantly.

Thank You! :woot:

Somebody else finally gets that making a sequel has only one way to go and that is up compared to SR. Just as long as they follow the guidelines above that you and I have mentioned when making MOS. Sheesh....

The film needs to be more fun and uplifting we also need to see Supes get pissed off and show some angry and intense emotion.

truthfully doing nothing with superman is the sensible thing to do since there are too many uncertainties with the whole franchise, Singer & Routh might of gave the death blow to Superman

Well we'll see....because if we don't hear anything in regards to MOS by September or October, then one of two things may seen to happening.

1.Either there is no Superman film until 2012.

2.They may actually go with a reboot

If we don't hear anything by the end of this year, I'm going to assume that a sequel to SR isn't coming.

Not sure about when you will hear anything about Superman, but you'll hear some info about other properties soon.

Thats good to hear, I'm thinking it will be either green arrow or green latern... what do you think showtime?

I would bet on Green Lantern. Not so sure about Green Arrow yet. However, wasn't refering to either of those projects...which would be going forward.

So you think they'll announce something else? Flash maybe? Or just confirm the sequel to TDK?

Yeah, as i said, a brazilian site called OMELETE talked to the producer. Green Lantern is moving forward and is looking really good, actually. At least the synopsis i read sounds awesome.

I think it will be lesser known heroes. I'd prefer Flash and W.W. films, but I
have a feeling it won't be. Oh well, lets see what they got planned.
