Is Singer Returning to X-Men?

Were you underwhelmed by X-Men: The Last Stand? Did you wish that Bryan Singer had stuck around and directed the third film in the X-Men series instead of abandoning ship?
Turns out, Singer wishes he had. In an interview with Total Film, Singer admitted to this thought, "before I was watching it, during watching it, after watching it."
But this wasn't just an interview about what could have been, it's about the future of the X-Men film franchise. With the prequel X-Men Origins: Magneto in development talk has turned to Singer possibly taking over the project. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner has expressed her desire for him to return, and Singer is "possibly" interested in it. As he explained, "I'm eternally intertwined with X-Men now. What takes an audience four hours to watch -- the first two movies -- took six years of my life. So, to not be part of it...It's a shame."
Of course, if you've seen the original X-Men film you know that Singer already gave us a quick look into Magneto's history, and he's not too keen on repeating himself. "The only thing that concerns me about Magneto is that if the prequel were to follow the track I used in X-Men, which is Magneto's history in the concentration camp, then I've lived in that work," said Singer. "I just might need to take a little break before I do something like that."
