I think Flash has amazing potential. I mean just imagine the visual effects you could do with a speedster?

With Geoff Johns as the producer, I just can't see the more "humorous" Wally West in the role of the Flash.

Wolfman and Morrison?

Wolfman was involved in the relaunch of Superman reinventing nemesis Lex Luthor and initially scripting the Adventures of Superman title and Morrison wrote All Star Superman, one of the best miniseries ever writtern. And Geoff Johns? Oh he is simply writing the new origins of Superman...

So they seem the perfect names to restart the Superman franchise. But I could be wrong...

I was just thinking about it... could you guys imagine had SR been the movie it was supposed to be and MOS were released instead of Potter in the July slot and we are sitting here breaking down a kickass sequel... the entire summer season could have been salvaged. What could of been... so sad... :csad:

Superman needs its own version of Tim Burtons Batman. Spice it up, make it cool and exciting, ignore the origins and get straight to the bossery, ect.

Completely agree. Flash has strong potential in the visual effects department. Not too familiar with the character, as such, am not familiar with his rogues gallery, but I'd be more than curious to go see his movie if it ever gets made.

I think I got to around the part where Superman has dinner with Lois in the recovered Titanic (in the FoS) . . . or maybe further.

Something about Superman absorbing a fatal amount of solar energy, and Lois becoming a superheroine for her birthday, while Atlas and some other dude macked on her. And Superman arm wrestles with Atlas and wins easily. It's been a while, so it's kind of a blur. I do remember enjoying it.

He's one of the fastest men alive, and can vibrate enough to move through solid objects. He dresses in red and gold. He's also a smartass.

Wally may have been a smartass, but I think we're getting Barry Allen, the straight and narrow police scientest Flash.

Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison and Marv Wolfman are all good writers in there own right. But it irks me that Warner's can go out and bring these guys into the fold for some big screen features, yet they can't pick up the phone and bring in Bruce Timm or Paul Dini. Yes, I might be biased because Superman TAS is my favorite version of the character and I'm fangasm for the DCAU, but those guys have been one of the few good things that have happened to DC character during the better part of two decades.

We've known about it for a couple of months actually.

Latino Review reviewed the script back in April.

It was a spec script that was written by Robert Gordon. Supposedly just for fun.

Damn, i had forgotten all about that. Thanks for the reminder.:o
A studio executive talking outta both sides of their ass is surprising how exactly?

Not saying it's surprising. I just wanted to point it out.

The thing with Johns and Morrison, it seems like they went to WB with ideas. Didnt morrison pitch a superman script at some point. During that time when they were taking pitches for superman thats probably when things started in regards to the hiring of the three. Maybe they liked what they heard but were unsure with superman so they decided to use them for other properties.

Case in point the Flash. It was probably going no where so really they had nothing to loose by hiring Johns for it. I just think that if dini or timm wanted to be involved they could.

Comic Con is coming up and we really shouldnt be expecting anything but its interesting that Geoff Johns has a forum that has a new Top Secret thread with no postings. I wonder if its to do with this announcement

Around late 2007-ish (after Dougherty and Harris were gone), Morrison was one of several comic writers who pitched sequel and reboot ideas.

A film-version of All-Star Superman was supposedly what he threw out there.

I personally don't think we'll get an origin movie until Smallville is over.

After they moved it to friday I dont see it lasting any longer. As for morrison, that makes sense, I haven't read all-star but it might be a bit too out there for a film. Really, their best bet is to take the various stories and combine them ala begins. Leave the legion out which they seem to be reintroducing.

It was.

Mark Waid pitched a film version of Superman:Birthright as well. Why they didn't go that route is beyond me. That or a film version of TAS is needed.

In my opinion, Birthright is how Smallville SHOULD have been done.

I'd rather have Mark Waid involved with a Superman movie than John or Morrison, same goes for The Flash. And I'd rather have Jeph Loeb as well.

Morrison's too weird to consult on something mainstream. He's probably sheparding We3 or something else based on his work.
