Tf 2 comes out JUne 26th. Not on the 4th of July weekend.
As for the release dates. Why not try the thnx giving dates in november. WB seems to have huge success with the Potter movies.
Or even December. Traditionally november/december are the periods when family movies do well .
If it worked for Potter and LOTR , it can also work for JLA
Competiton is less fierce when compared to the summer period. Hollywood just doesn't learn it's lesson with the May release dates.
They had a crowded may in 2007 . It worked out in the end but competition was so fierce.
But they're still doint it in 2008 with no more then 4 movies competing this time.
The 4th of Jily weekend could work with JLA because like Hunter said ,you'll have two IMAX movies competing with each other in May '09 if JLA were also released in that period.
No way WB will risk that.
This year 300 , SPiderman 3 and Harry Potter were released in IMAX. 300 in March , Spidey in May and Potter in July. There is enough space bwteen those periods to make enough money with an IMAX release.
Thats' why the 4th of July weekend might work , although i'd rather see them releasing it in the winter
