Days of Future Past What´s gonna happen in Age of Apocalypse? [Discussions based on DOFP]

I can't see Tatum getting a solo movie. As well-liked and popular as he is, his most successful movies box office-wise are ones where he's not solo/main draw of the movie.

But, Shuler Donner hints that they may give him one. She seems to want that to happen very much, so I am thinking it is likely.

The solo movie is the only thing 100% set for Tatum/Gambit... whether it actually happens or not.

His appearance in XMA is still speculation, though it seems likely.

Donner has wanted spinoff solo movies since X1. None other than Wolverine have happened. After X1, they wanted a spinoff of Magneto, Mystique, and Storm. Magneto's script drafts were infused into the First Class movie. Mystique now may be getting one because of the growth of her character and because proven box office successful Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is in the role. Storm's not getting one for a long time, if ever. But notice how long it took for Magneto drafts to even happen; they didn't happen til after X3. And Mystique's spinoff wasn't a real thought for them until DoFP.

Channing Tatum has been in moderately successful movies where he's the lead, but nothing groundbreaking. In ensemble movies, he's proven to be a well-known asset. He's also going to play while one of the most popular X-Men characters, the character was last seen in the worst X-movie in a glorified cameo. Maybe over time the solo movie will happen, but I honestly just don't see it happening anytime soon.

Watched DOFP again tonight, that Apocalypse scene gave me chills. The music built so menancingly, and the horsemen standing on the hill were terrifying. Can't wait to see what they do

Given the news about Tatum as Gambit maybe getting a solo, I am thinking that other Fox Marvel Film is Gambit. Still unsure if the OT cast gets another movie.

I just don't see it happening. Wolverine 3 gets released in March 2017 and the less-tested character gets released in a more crowded month like July?
I want Gambit to be horsemanified and frozen in Apocalypse carbonite to be reawoken in an OT sequel featuring Rogue.

I thought about too!

Going to be one of those rare occasions when once the DVD/Bluray is released I will watch it all the way through to the post credits scene, rarely do I bother, but its one of my fave shots of the entire film.

Some moron shouted "is that it?" at the end, wanted to go hit them. I absolutely love that shot. It's so foreboding but leaves so much to the imagination, just what a stinger should be.

Unlike Marvel who lay out the finer points of the next film...

Yeah stingers generally dont do much for me Marvel or Fox to be fair, The Wolverine one that everyone raved about did nothing for me or X3 and Avengers eating round a table was meh and Thor TDW was just :barf:.

So maybe I'm not the best of judges but the fact that this one actually resonated with me tells me a lot, the fact you just see the four horsemen in the background, blurry, but most noticeable was chilling. :wow:

I cried during The Wolverine one... It was so beautiful to see Stewart and McKellen back, and a wonderful surprise. Cried like a baby :funny:

Does non fan know Gambit at all ? They plan to have Deadpool as a spinoff and introduced his character briefly in XO. That fails !

I don't think that matters, especially when July is more proven for Summer blockbusters than March is. Wolverine FOX is likely experimenting with the way Marvel did with TWS, and given Wolverine is a known character, it is less risky to use him in a non-typical summer month.

Each of the x-Men movies have had a main story with a sub-plot for a particular Mutant. I hope for "apocalypse" that's either Cyclops, Apocalypse or maybe even Cable.

How would you guys feel about Legion as a future villain?

They could Say Moira left Charles after 1966 or so because she was pregnant and didn't think him ready to be a father what with his growing depression.

In the 80s their Son David Xavier (Legion) now mid to late teens is losing control of his powers and Moira seeks out Charles for help.

Moira has since quit the CIA and moved to Scotland to study genetics to better help her Son.

And do you think Gambit will perform better in a more crowded month like July than a less crowded month like March?

Also in my opinion, one of the reasons why they are trying out Wolverine in a different month because The Wolverine didn't exactly perform that well in July. It became the lowest grossing X-Men film in the United States.

July is a more proven BO month. So, it very well might.

A proven BO month for movies like Harry Potter, Transformers and the other high-profiled movies out there... but Gambit? If Wolverine couldn't even get $150 million in U.S. alone in the month of July. What makes you think Gambit is gonna perform so much better than The Wolverine. Wolverine already had a lot of push from the previous X-Men movies, while Gambit would only be appearing in his 2nd movie maybe in 2016. If they are giving Wolverine 3 a March release date, then they probably might as well give Gambit the March release date, since Gambit is still not as tested as Wolverine. Why risk releasing it in July, when the competition in that month is much more bigger.

You've got to be kidding me.

Thanos, The Collector and the Twins were very clear to your audiences? Man those are some comic-savvy casual viewers.

Cripes. I blame people like you for the studio war.

Nobody knew what to make of the ending…the few friends I went with tonight (my first viewing…I know I'm a little late), who are "X-Nerds"…I had to explain it to them…

…there was a collective "What was that?" "Who was that?" and even a "What the F was that?" in the audience during the scene…

I loved it personally…bring on the Apocalypse…I don't want to wait…

Im glad Cyclops and Jean are back this was literally my reaction

im ready for some original X-men action tho, and Quicksilver is coming back according to IMDB so thats a plus

Those post-credit scenes are almost always for the more hardcore fans. If you're a none comic reader, the you'll probably be able to guess that they're teases to future films. But if you do read the comics, then you'll know what they really mean. Take the Apocalypse scene:

Non-comic reader reaction: "Oh there's this really creepy cloaked blue guy with a lot of power/followers. He's probably the bad guy for the next movie, cool.

Comic reader reaction: "OMG it's Apocalypse, and he's got his Horsemen with him."

Now the Thanos one:

Non-comic reader: "Hmm, creepy purple alien guy who Loki was working with and was terrified of. Bad guy for a future movie."

Comic reader reaction: "OMG it's Thanos."

The Collector:

None-comic reader: "Space David Bowie? Wonder what his deal is?"

Comic reader reaction: "The Collector? Never thought we'd see him in a movie, cool."

Thanos and Apocalypse are both unknown to me. Never read any comics about them.

Thanos was a monkey with a grin. For someone who doesn't know him, it doesn't have much of an effect.

Apocalypse-stinger had much more to it. Pyramids, visible god-status.

At the end of the day, both are just teasing fans and I don't care that much about any stinger, but the Apocalypse one made me want to check out that character and learn about him a little.

I have thought about that as well. The movies change stuff all the time. I doubt this will happen of course. They will have Moira the mother instead of Gabrielle.

Yeah, I've always felt that the X-Men films have done them a little better. The MCU ones are either a bit too on the nose (Cap 2 - hey guys, it's QS and SW, they're gonna be BIG things next time) or really vague (Thanos grins, no-one knows anything).

You look at the FOX ones so far and you've got;

X3 - Xavier awakens, Magneto's powers. Potential sequel but a sly nod
TW - The greatest scene in movie history
DOFP - Really foreboding set-up to the next film

But you know, I guess it depends what you're a fan of. I always got more from X-Men being a fan of it more :)

I know, only those familiar with X-men universe would know.

Perhaps i interpreted hoy-small-fry's "Some moron shouted "is that it? at the end" comment as an indication that the guy did know that was Apocalypse, but that he wanted to see more.
