What are your complaints? What would you do differently? *SPOILERS*

Not necessarily but a clever line or even some kind of indication that Clark was half way there to figuring it out would have been cool.
I mean, we never even saw him speed run or jump before he put the suit on. It was just like, "Ok, I think I'll put on this Krptonian underwear and do some jumping. Heck I just got fired again so I've nothing to do but destroy mountain tops."
I mean look at the build up to Bruce just jumping from a ledge in TDKR.

Its funny, but i thought they would use the Tornedo as a tool for first flight, like they did with Welling in the CB Smallville. How did Clark know that Pa Kent wasn't just showing him a splinter in the palm of his hand and Clark mistook that for "don't rescue me"?
Lmao

I don't know how I would improve them but by very minor complaints are that things such as getting the suit, wearing it happens fairly quick. Meeting Lois and working with her?

I know people say the character development kind of goes out the window but I say at the end of the movie, we get a clear idea of who these people are. It's a great setup for a sequel.

Oh, and I would've added more heat vision lol. It was very cool when we did see him use it however.

I'm bummed we don't get to find out how he shaves. What was the whole point of that marketing campaign?

Have some lighthearted moments, or some more quiet character driven moments the type we get in Batman and Iron Man.

Realize that sometimes you can't improve on the original, because in one line in Superman the Movie, you are given Zod's motivation, "the choice must be unanimous Jor-El, therefore you alone will condemn us and you alone will be held responsible by me".
they cleared that up in 30 seconds for two movies, for something this movie failed to do in 2 1/2 hours. Something about Zod's genetic breeding to protect Krypton, whatever.

I guess that's the difference between David Goyer and Mario Puzo.

I hate the lack of continuity in the story...

Superman and Zod pummel each other and drop buildings on each other all over Metropolis without leaving so much as a scratch on each other. But when the script calls for it, Superman can just snap Zod's neck?

Apparently, everyone in Smallville knows that Clark has powers. But Clark can't save his dad because a bunch of strangers might see some guy they don't even know use super powers to save his dad? What's worse is that Clark apparently has no remorse because he goes against his father's last wish and starts going around the world saving people anyway.

Also, is Clark going to have a secret identity or not? Everyone with a TV or youtube will know that Clark is Superman, I mean the Kryptonians blew up Smallville, Kansas! It doesn't take Columbo to link Clark(the kid with powers) to Superman. Not only that but everyone seems to conviently have amnesia when the Script calls for it. Didn't the army pick up Kal-El's ship from the Kent farm? You don't need a satellite to keep tabs on Superman. Just pay someone to follow Clark Kent around. He's not even hiding anymore, he puts his name on every article he writes for the Daily Planet!

I saw something like this written on another site and agree with it: it would've added a lot to Supes' character if there were scenes of him rescuing people and helping to rebuild Metropolis after the Battle of Metropolis. Probably my main complaint was that Supes wasn't very "inspiring" per se in the movie but a quick scene of him helping out after all of the destruction could've easily rectified that.

Other complaints (nothing major, just things that ranged from nitpicks to annoyances):
- The oil rig setpiece felt way too short. The "Clark on fire" sequence specifically was much shorter than I thought it would be.
- Clark wasn't a very talkative character, especially at the beginning. I mean, I know he was supposed to be reclusive and a drifter at first, but nearly every other incarnation of CK (whether in live-action or animated) has him at least a little bit sociable.
- Sloppy writing & editing - too many examples to point out, but one of the ending lines that went like "General, I grew up in Kansas". Did Goyer actually think that line through before he put pen to paper? I suppose the MOS filmverse is just going to dispense with the idea that CK is supposed to be a disguise and just have the whole world know that CK is Supes! The things in the movie like that just made me feel like Goyer sucks as a writer. I liked Snyder's directing, but man there were just too many fails in the writing aspect and I for one hope Goyer doesn't write the sequel or another Superman film. And if there were supposed to be large lapses in movie time at certain points, the editing definitely didn't reflect it. (How long was it supposed to be between the Battle of Metropolis and CK walking into the DP?)
- Not enough Shannon as Zod. I wanted more! I also wanted him more angry/crazy like on Boardwalk Empire.
- Not enough Antje as Faora. She was awesomely bad-ass!
- Everything up until the Battle of Smallville felt too rushed. And the switches between linear and flashback storytelling were disorienting.

Superman also tells one of the army guys that he grew up in Kansas, and that he's as American as it gets. Way to keep it a secret.

The main problem I had with the movie was I got the sense it was rushed. I felt from him being on the boat to then working at the bar, to then being on a outgoing expedition just happened so fast. When Lois interviews the girl at the bar when looking for Clark she says 'Yeah he worked here for a couple of month'

And also, the iconic moment when he gets the suit. It's pretty much 'Here's your suit, go fly' I thought they could have maybe made it abit more special. I can let the fact there's no mention of how the suit got there or why it was there...Or why it had the symbol of El on as a scouting ship.

Two big things I would have done differently:

1. Much less shaky-cam
2. Linear story with no flashbacks.

And also, could Lois Lane fly in this movie? She literally appears out of nowhere at every important moment of the film. Especially at the end, Supes and Zod have a mid-air fight and then crashland in a church where Lois just unexpectadly appears moments later...

Way too many high pitched screeching sounds. Ear splitting when the volume is cranked to 20 on a scale of 10 like the IMAX theater I saw it in tonight. Looking forward to having my own volume control when I get the Blu-ray.

(From the similar thread)
Those same damn piano notes playing every 15 minutes.

I actually liked them. I don't know if they were supposed to be the main theme or not but those reoccurring piano notes had a thing of their own, and made the movie feel very personal.

It's only gossip at that point. Only a few have seen him do stuff but there's nothing concrete. I think most of the residents only view it at talk while a few know the truth.

In terms of the flashbacks and scenes in general during the beginning of the film, the one thing I would do differently would be 'Quality over quantity'.

Too many little scenes that never had a chance to have any real impact, when less scenes with more impact would have drastically improved the weight of the film as well as not being so 'choppy.'

I'm a fan of non linear, but it was just badly badly done.

The three issues I'm having is that:

1. Jonathan Kent died saving a dog. I love dogs myself. I have two. But the scene could have had a little more weight to it by having Jonathan die saving another person, a kid maybe.

2. I saw the 2D version and the tentacle scene was basically unnecessary. The CGI in that scene was not very good at all really.

3. NO lead-in to any other DC title movie properties WHATSOEVER. I mean a few LexCorp visuals and one Wayne Industries visual in no way helps the matter really. I held out hope against hope Christian Bale would have a cameo in the end of the movie but he didn't. And that was a bad misstep not having Bruce Wayne cameo in the film. I don't think they completely getting the bigger picture.

The fact that WB once again balked at putting any connective tissue for a DCMU into this movie says everything you need to know about the studio and their outlook on these films. Profit without risk. I don't expect that to change any time soon.

I can't believe some of the whining people are making about this movie - It had flaws, sure, but you'd think you'd just seen Daredevil with the complaints!

Main two complaints seem to be 1. the jumping around 'timeline' and 2. Superman not saving enough (if any) people in Metropolis.

Well.. 1. I had no problem with it at all, in fact I thought it was a great way to retell a story we all know in a different way, are people so lazy these days they can't use enough brainpower to follow this? Seriously? I suppose they could have just done a lame, easy-ass, retelling like the Amazing Spiderman did! :whatever:
2. Not sure anybody noticed but a big ass space ship - linked to a world engine on the other side of the planet was trying to destroy the earth... anybody? You noticed that right? So what would you do as Superman... try and stop this happening by destroying the World Engine, or fly back around the world and save a bunch of people from falling glass and masonry....hmm, save Billions of people or a hundreds/thousands??? Oh, and whilst you're doing that having eight or so Kryptonian superbeings trying to kill the ***** out of you!!!
This was a city wide battle - the scale of it was huge, and the destruction would be that bad... it made the end of the Avengers seem ridiculous in comparison!

1.
I felt Goyer chose it because it was cliche Nolan...but doesn't understand how to properly use on film. Quality vs Quantity. The scene where Clark is being bullied and then "comforted" by Jonathan Kent pretty much could have been cut out..given what they already showed.

2. Superman saves people but he doesn't comfort them. Although Superman may know what's best in each circumstance, the fact he doesn't say anything to person he saves (such as leaving Lois because police are coming without really saying anything..if my memory is correct, and then the way he tries to calm Lois during the surgery) shows a bit of arrogance. It can take a few seconds to say, "everything will be all right...just smile Lois..this is what I do to endure pain...or keep hope alive" ...not "I can do what lot of men can't....and hold on, this is gonna hurt" with a bravado smirk.

Ding-ding-ding. Typical Goyer, using everyone else's ideas.

Anyone else think Martha Kent was high through the majority of the film? That's realism that I would have happily bought.

Lonely widower in the Midwest who gives into some Mary Jane. Was odd.

A PETA moment!!! LOL!! That bugged me to no end!! Why couldn't it be a human being???

I'd be high all the time too if my son let his own father die, when he had super powers. :cmad:

Haha damn that tornado scene.
