What are your complaints? What would you do differently? *SPOILERS*

What different would that have made? He's still inexperienced in using his powers and had never been in that situation before until that point.
even if he was inexperienced this whole "sense of morality" which faora claimed to have made him weak should have applied. i can see a younger clark doing what he did because his youth would be right in line with his inexperience. that's why i would have preferred if he was younger. i figured an older clark would have known better. of course i say this as someone who wouldn't know how the hell to end that fight exactly, but that would have been up to the writers to figure and it would have been a good contrast between what zod wanted to do with earth and humanity.

-The daily planet and metropolis are destroyed in the final battle, but everything is magically ok when clark is ridding his bike without glasses though the city to the daily planet.

-Why does that 18,000 year old scout ship contain a super suit with his family crest on it?

-Why does zod want to terraform earth? why not any other planet?

-how did Clark get a job at the daily planet, when he has no experience or college back round or anything?

-Superman told the general he was 33 years old and grew up in Kansas.......and you will never find out where he hangs his cape.

-Lois Lane

Saw it this morning and I loved it.
I had the same sense of awe as when I watched Avengers last year.

But I love nitpicking more then praising so I'll get to it.

Metropolis destruction. After Transformers 3, it seems like every action movie wants to level cities.

The type of destruction caused in this movie, would take decades to repair.

Supes should have taken Zod to a remote location.

Still, it was cool seeing him being punched through an office building.

Lois' news story, how hard will it be for anyone to know Clark Kent is Superman?

A big one for me that I haven't seen mentioned.

The big fight between Supes and the Non character.
They basically tumble into a Sears.
The next scene, Supes walks out and the guy says, you are not our enemy.

Well, where is Non? Did Supes kill him? Is he laying around in rubble.
He survived a train explosion but gets knocked out by a few fridgerators???

in the movies' defense I dont think it was ever stated how long after the battle of metropolis did that scene take place. Although it did seem soon after
and was it ever said that he didnt go to college? I dont remember

But I agree with that 3rd point so much. Honestly I dont really see a point of him having a secret identity when it's so poorly kept. To me it's kinda like the train scene in Spider-Man 2, except not as bad.

I feel like a lot of people didn't watch the sequence when Superman got his suit. It was his ancestors of the line of El who were in the ship.

As I recall, Jor-El basically said that Earth was the only planet he had found capable of sustaining Kryptonian life at the beginning of the movie.

Zod finds Earth and discovers its advantages for them when he finds Kal-El.

Why would zod need to terraform the planet if that were the case?

I agree with all of these.

Ill ad the camera work in the film made my brain want to implode. The constant zooming, extreme closeups, swooping all over the place shots got so tiresome. The best shots were the emotional ones where the camera actually took the time to let us take in the frame - like Kal-El in his costume hugging his mother. <---- That means more to me than 1000 collapsing buildings.

Krypton is a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed what I was seeing when the story focused on the PEOPLE. When it became a FX extravaganza, I wondered if I was watching Star Wars Episode 3 1/2.

I liked Zod, Jor-El and Faora. I thought Cavill did a really decent job. Lois was eh, for me, but she usually is.

Agree with previous comments about Superman reveal not being a worldwide moment of awe = fail.

Dont like that Jor-El essentially "created Superman". This shoudl be Kal-El choice.. of how he wants to present himself to the people of earth. I would have preferred Kal making choices like wearing his fathers Kyrpton clothes to honor him... choosing red for the cape to represent his homeworlds sun... blue for adapted Earth... something that gives the suit meaning to Kal-El instead of Jor-El saying "Heres your supersuit son"

Pa Kents death was stupid. I get him not wanting Clark to reveal himself, but it was just poorly executed.

Some very choppy editing, especially in the first 1/3.

This film needed more color.

Gummy people fights. How are we supposed to care abotu what we're seeing when our eyes are constantly working to keep up with the action onscreen?

More characterization, less action.

This film seemed to be the opposite of Superman Returns which was all melodrama and no action, while Im afraid I have to agree with what others said... this film lacks heart, fun, and charm. There is some emotion, but Im not sure how to explain this.. it comes more from our love of the character, not from what is unfolding onscreen. Characterization is lacking.

Id place it about even with Superman Returns...or about the same level as Captain America.

-Extremely disappointed in Lois in this movie. Im surprised Ive seen so many people say that she was the perfect Lois in this. Maybe it's because Lois is my favorite love interest/one of my favorite female characters in comics in general, but I hated how dull her personality was . DCAU Lois is still my favorite though and I was hoping on getting something more in the line of that
-Flashbacks couldve been handled better
-More "Clark Kent" (i guess i'll wait for the sequel)
-More humor
-[BLACKOUT]I didnt like how Superman killed Zod.[/BLACKOUT] But if they really wanted to do it. Show that it had a bigger impact than just him screaming NO. I read someone on here saying having a scene between that and the drone/he's kinda hot scene wouldve been good

I thought there was plenty of humour but on your blanked out moment. I think all they had to do was have a line or two between Clark and Martha at [BLACKOUT]Jonathan's grave[/BLACKOUT]

as far as changes there's too much to list for me. they tried way to hard to distance this from the other films. and i mean way to hard. there was times i barley knew this was a superman movie.

I liked the movie a lot, but I would have included more humor. I'm fine with movies being dark, but it was a little too dark for Superman, IMO. Jimmy Olsen should have been in it instead of that creeper dude at the Daily Planet with court side tickets.

Also, I liked the score, but it wasn't really memorable like Zimmer's work on the Dark Knight trilogy.

I would have liked a little bit more screen time of Martha and Jonathan with baby Clark, particularly when they first find him in the spaceship. Also, a little bit more screen time between young/teenage Clark and Jonathan. It would have given the film a little more balance between Clark as a person, and Clark as Kal-El/Superman.

- They should've had the flashbacks in chronological order

- Clark's earth dad's death should have been more emotional by having him on the ground crying while having his dad on the ground as well telling him to stay back instead of him standing up and then disappearing in the tornado

- They should have had more dialogue between Clark and his parents

- They should have brought in a different way to introduce the suit instead of just having it appear out of nowhere

- Faora should have lived because she was so damn fine with that b*tch face she puts on

- They should have had a post-credits scene with the next villain (Lex Luthor?) even if it's just 5 seconds, something to reward the fans with.

Other than that, I loved the movie. Action scenes were PERFECT length and were the best action scenes I've ever seen in a superhero movie.
Faora did live she is just in the Phantom Zone. Do you think a plane crash really would have killed her? She was just one of the first to be sucked in.

that couldve worked

Yeah I think a little something would've helped, he seemed to just go back to been happy but it was only a minor irritable. Just would've liked a line like "it was a decision I had to make but I won't ever kill again" or something better lol

Definietly.

I had high hopes for this collection of great actors, but came away with no real emotion for any of them. Going in I truly wanted to.

Just remembered JorEL had his robot use a shock flare before fighting zods men the first time.
For anyone that thought that fight was improbable.

I'm sure many or maybe all of these have been pointed out by others (I just haven't read all of the posts). But here's what stuck out to me:

-Mixed feelings about the opening Krypton scene. I liked how they showed Zod taking power, which was better than what we had seen in the Donner films, but as for the look of Krypton itself-sure it looked different than the Donner films and alien enough I suppose-but I didn't care much for it. Why would an advanced civilization have winged mounts to fly around on or have their genesis chamber-big womb-undersea? I think some of that stuff was just put in their for a visual spectacle, and it didn't work for me.
-I also thought the opening sequence went on too long. Battle Jor-El was a little bit much and the way he kicked Zod's behind was pushing it too far. I'm sure they probably had to accommodate Crowe but still Zod should've handled himself much better if he is a genetically engineered warrior.
-Why is the genetic destiny of Krypton embodied in an ancient skull? And why isn't there better security around that skull?
-Why is Lara hanging out with the council when sentencing is passed on Zod, especially after Jor-El has stolen the codex? I would think that maybe someone on the Council might have felt Lara was an accessory to the crime and be advocating putting her in the Phantom Zone too.
-Why does Jor-El's key work on an 18,000 year old ship?
-Why is there a Super Suit on that 18,000 year old vessel? And why doesn't it also have any kind of additional armor.
-Why doesn't Jor-El have enough time to create a hologram of Lara too? Or why doesn't Lara do that?
-When Superman takes Zod out for bullying Martha, he seems to forget the other Kryptonian soldiers there. What was to stop any of them from killing Martha while he's tussling with Zod?
-Superman did seem a bit oblivious to the destruction he was causing, or part of causing. There was at least one scene where he's warning some locals to get inside, but that doesn't mean much when they are throwing people through buildings and leveling skyscrapers, particularly in the Krypton scene.
-Why doesn't anyone think opening a black hole above Metropolis might not be a bad idea?
-Jenny. Either make her Jenny Olsen or just bring in Jimmy Olsen. For a minute I was wondering if she was going to die and Jimmy Olsen would show up at the end of the film to carry on for his sister Jenny.
-Also, if it was such a big deal about Lara and Jor-El conceiving naturally, how did they cover up the pregnancy? Did anyone not notice that Lara was pregnant? With Jor-El being a prominent scientist I would assume he might be somewhat in the public eye.

Other complaints:
-I wish the dialogue had been better. Lois needed more snappy banter. I think there was the start of something with Perry but they never built on that.
-A lighter touch. The film could've used just a little bit more levity. I mean, a knowing look between Clark and Pete Ross at I-Hop for example would've been cool.
-Pete Ross was too much of a jerk.
-Jonathan Kent's death. I felt it was unnecessary. For one he should've let Clark get the dog and two, Clark should've just defied his dad and saved his life. I mean there could've been this big whoosh of wind and Jonathan is standing right beside them.
-I think the film turned Clark a bit too introspective, dithering, and fearful. Perhaps he had to be that way to have a character arc. Maybe that's what it was all about, as illustrated in the church scene that Clark had to learn to trust humanity like it was going to have to learn to trust him. However he just came across as a bit too small IMO.
-Really didn't care for the design aesthetic for this movie. Perhaps it's techno-organic technology for Krypton now, but some of it looked more kewl than functional, and really not always so cool. I didn't like those things that made pewter faces.
-More DC comics characters and references in the film. Arrow has spoiled me but it would've been nice to get more DC references and cameos. For example, I would've liked both the FBI and DEO to be coming after Lois, or maybe ARGUS, when they wanted to question her about Superman's whereabouts.
-Too much iffy CGI. The big battles got numbingly boring after a while.

I'd make too many changes to the film.

I feel the same way...... about the Dark Knight Rises :woot:

I'd change nothing about that film. But, I like it for all the wrong reasons. It's the Batman & Robin on that continuity for me. :funny:
