what happened to Lana??

Lucadris refered to the show as a teen show. Not I. Though he wasnt trying to bash it for being one.

I guess this board isnt an accurate reflection of the majority of types of viewers.

Well I aint bashing it by calling it a teen show, because its a good show but if you had to place it given the network its on and cast and demographic the phrase "teen show" is given. But I guess one could be PC and say its for the younger audience

no man. You were right the first time. It is a teen show. I guess sometimes we all expect too much from it. The aspects of the superman mythos (especially Brainiac) are the only things that keep me interested and watching.

And of course, KK keeps you watching.

I don't remember why I have Kane on ignore, but I think I'm glad...

No, it's not that... it's a genre that is inherantly viewed as having less value. You are basically dissing the show when you lump it into the "teen" show catagory.

Yeah, teens watch it and it's on the WB, so maybe it's not a totally inaccurate assessment, but there is so much more to this show than most "teen" shows...

It's more worthy an enterprise than most of the normal drivel that gets labeled as a teen show as well...

Yet it will still fit the mode of a teen show overall.

If it was just a teen show, then I wouldnt be watching it I can assure you of that. I have enough teen angst (with three teenage sons and all) happening in my real life.

Well I'm not dissing it by calling it a teen show because I look those type of shows to a certain extent and keep in mind a lot of them were good (Smallville's closest comparison Roswell for instance did not suck, nor did My so called life or Party of Five). If one had to be accurate I could repeat what I said before and say its multi genred (teen, sci-fi, drama, comic book). When the show started I think it was hard to not call it a teen type show and although they've grown it still has storylines of that sorts that dont neccessairly drag down the show like some may think. Sometimes the simplicity of this part of the shows aspect is appealable to an audience just as much as the rest.

Thats insane.

Thats like Home Improvement.

Yeah, me too. That's what I'm trying to say. There is so much more to this show than teen angst, and there isn't really much of that at all anymore anyway...

Luda, I think we're talking around each other so I'm going to quit....

You forgot the Adam Knight nonsense, the biological father, Jason, Whitney etc

They need a Crisis on Infinite Lana to sort her out.

LMAO!

Plus isn't the mid-to-late twenties age demographic that most of the ratings are coming from?

Am I wrong? Where are you gals that follow the ratings?

All of us here are obviously invested in this show in part (some larger than others) because of the Superman angle. BUT, I think it's an incomplete perspective to assume that covers all the regular fans. Just about every adolescent I know that watches the show, and I really do know quite a few, know next to nothing about Superman, let alone any details of the mythos. The reason they watch the show is because of the "Dawson's Creek, soap opera, relationship stuff," whatever label you want to use.

Just sayin'... it's a big wide world of viewers out there beyond the fringes of Superman forums. :)

Yes, exactly my point. The demographics of the ppl in this forum dont reflect the type of total viewers at all.

I'd love to see a list of all of Clark's 'fights' by Lastson88....FOTW's included. That would BE somthin!

That would be something...but that's far too much work...its probably in the like 100-150 range seeing as how he gets into multiple fights per epi.

Lana was easy, cuz her life is just so damn "out there"...she went from the "girl next door" in seasons 1 & 2 to "angry b****" in season 3 to "possessed witch" in season 4 to finally, a "vampire" in season 5.

For all we know at this rate, she could turn out to be Jor-El by season 6! ;)

Excellent points. There are so many aspects/genres covered in Smallville and I just happen to like all of them.

Superman/SciFi/Fantasy/History/Romance/SpecialEffects.

I think the fact that the actors arent teenagers and that their relationship issues are beyond normal teenage issues helps older folks relate to as well.

All of my oldest son's friends love Smallville. They came over to our house to watch the 100th episode. I love getting with the girls in the group 'cause they like to drool over Tom Welling as much as I do. :D

 I've been saying for ages the show is mulit-genred:mad:

"Will someone throw me a friggin bone here"

How many people do you have to kill to be considered a serial killer. Because so far Lana's on 2.

I remember once she killed one of Edge's men at the Kent farm pretty brutally. He wasnt even about to shoot anyone, he was just guarding them and she pushed him into this metal pike that stabbed right through his chest. No remorse...

And in the next episode, she was lecturing Clark about his violent habits..

Your right that makes 3.

You're effing kidding me, right?
I just had this same twilight zone-ish conversation with someone at the Planet.

Yeah.. Lana's an evil and violent serial killer. She lined that guy right up in front of the pitchfork (that she'd probably previously hidden there too) and she maliciously kicked him into it without any justification whatsover.

Actually that was self defense, dude the man attacked her.:o

Don't count that in her death tally.

In fact, in Void it was self defense too. Even if the death was a little contrived. That is what irritated me.

If your counting stuff like that, then the Chloe is guilty of murdering both the kid from Hidden, and Simone. Once again...all self defense.

Thank you Serene...for mirroring my thoughts on the matter.:)

Hey Lana Lang is ill with the killing techniques. You dont **** with Lana-Fu, Chloe's cow ass learned that in Season 3

Bingo.

I love the balance of SciFi/Fantasy to Romance/Drama that SV offers. Not a perfect show by any means, but damn, it still hits all my buttons.

And the lead actor is pretty damn easy on the eyes too. ;)
