Honestly, the whole Sinister Six movie makes no sense. De-emphasizing the character you desperately want to keep (Spider-Man) is going to make the GA more accepting of Spider-Man? It just sounds like Sony thinks they know how to copy how Marvel has been world building, but they have no clue. I think their pride will only sully the Spider-Man franchise even further.

I think their best move is to realize Marvel Studios knows what they are doing. I mean look at the Iron Man property before they made the first movie. Heck, just look what they did with Guardians of the Galaxy! I mean Guardians of the Galaxy! A racoon and a talking tree! Imagine what they could do with a property like Spider-Man!

I think Sony's best move, if they don't want to sell the rights back is to make a deal with Marvel Studios to reboot the character in the MCU. That would probably interest the GA. Then have Marvel Studios handle the creative side of making Spider-Man movies, with Sony co-financing and releasing the movies. Either share the profits or keep it Sony gets the movie profits and Disney keeps the merchandizing rights. That way, BOTH companies make more money on Spidey than they are getting now.

How on Earth do you draw that conclusion? Sinister Six probably needs MCU tie ins like SHIELD. Who will even be the protagonist? Unless Dare Devil is showing up, or Spiderman himself, they don't really have a centerpiece character for that.

At the very least, if they were an antagonist of SHIELD and Spidey is recruited, it can work. Otherwise S6 would only convolute the MCU if they try to incorporate it after the fact.

The way I would play this, rework the character into the MCU, and as a return investment for Marvel, Sony agrees to relinquish rights completely after a certain time or number of Spidey films produced by Sony. I still think Garfield can be incorporated, but it has to be in Phase 3 otherwise Marvel will recast the character in P4. Maybe Sony cuts a distribution deal for solo movies for X amount of films.

A well received Sinister Six movie will create buzz for ASM3 just like negative buzz will hurt ASM3. If Sony can breathe life into the Spider-Man franchise without the help of Marvel they will. I'm pretty certain they see crawling to Marvel as a last resort.

It might just be that the team splits. One lot working with the government. The other a more rogue group that the government outlaw. Cap 3 could just be about Cap leading the new team. That has it's own story/antagonist. I know civil war has a lot of meaning to comic readers. But for the rest, it means nothing.

I would agree. XMDOFP, TDKR, CATWS have all drawn on different story lines from the comics without following them note for note. I could very easily see Civil War playing out much differently in a film than in the comics, and indeed it will given the way the MCU is structured , it will be different from the comics. I really doubt they're gonna reveal Parker's identity to the world in an MCU film should Spiderman be incorporated.

It'd be nice if Sony and Disney did come to an agreement, and we saw an Avenger fight along side Spidey in The Sinister 6. I have no clue what I want for the series tbh. If they are going to sell the rights back or reboot, at least give us TASM 3 more than anything or keep Andrew in whatever you do.

Even if Spidey does appear in the film, I doubt it would be anything more than a quick cameo. We might not even see him just a mention of other him by cap or ironman.

Imagine this as the 'during the credits' scene for AoU...

Nick Fury approaches the Avengers team as they are heading home or preparing to leave separately...

"Hey, everyone. Real quick before you go, I've got a potential new candidate for the team. Here's a personnel profile (hands file folder to Cap), give him a look and tell me what you think."

Cap opens the folder. Reads a bit.

"Says here, he lives in NYC. 2nd in his class. Class??!! He's a school kid?"

Fury: "Yeah, I know. He has some very good skills. Give it some thought. Let me know."

Cap: "Sure thing."

Reads some more. "Catches thieves like flies...wha??"

I know it's crude writing on my part but can imagine how crazy people would go over something like that? It blow up the internet. Would probably never happen but that would create some real excitement imo.

UWH, I hope someone high up in the offices of Marvel reads this.

I can't even...

I've already posted this in the Sinister Six thread. I think it's the best and most probable way to go. It would conclude the trilogy started by Webb and even feel like some kind of master plan (even though we know that neither Webb nor Sony ever had one), as it uses already established villains from TASM and TASM2.

Let's be honest. The best thing to do at this point, is to end this trilogy with a "spider-man vs. Sinister six" movie. Your ideas can be applied to this as well, I like them!

No love interest. Except maybe black cat as a sidekick to help him in the finale, as she was already introduced in TASM2. Start the film where we ended, have him fight mecha Rhino. After he gets defeated, Oscorp makes him a much tighter suit, which still resembles a rhino "I want him to remember me" Aleksei says.

Don't introduce too many new villais. Maybe doc ock only. Re-use Electro. Re-use even Lizard (mind controlled, transformed by a more powerful version of the serum, making him a ferocious beast - with a snout). Goblin has to be there as well. Drop norman. Reaveal Menken/Ratha to be the Chameleon. And there you have your sinister six!

This film would also end the Oscorp element. They could introduce the black suit but I don't think it's necessary. Black cat would help him defeat them. The lizard would turn good again. So it's three vs. five.

After that: recast, but continue the established Webb-i-verse. I. e. no gwen, no origin!

How cool would it be to see all the different Spider-Man in one movie.

If you wanted a Spider-Man movie to create massive buzz that would be a way to go.

I'm sorry guys, I know a lot of you like the Webbverse or at least Garfield's portrayal, but I just feel there's too much baggage with this universe. I think they mishandled most everything except for the costume in ASM2. I really didn't like Garfield in ASM1 and thought he was a little better in ASM2. I could probably deal with him in the MCU, but it feels like too much baggage (I mean, I think they ruined Goblin and the Osborns, so I'd prefer a reboot.

No.

Unless Sony wants to play around with those and give back 616 Peter/Spider-Man to Marvel Studios/Disney.

I'd prefer: Sinister Six winning the game by sending spidey into the MCU where they could reuse Emma stone as MJ. That would also get rid off any baggage from Sony and I can keep Andrew :D

When the Avengers came out Andrew said something about wishing he could go out there and play with those guys. It would be a dream come true for him as well. I hope Sony doesn't put their death grip on Spidey...

About that MARVEL mystery press event about to be held on Tuesday:

Remember when Max Landis tweeted about MARVEL getting back the rights to Spider-Man? And how he wasn't supposed to tweet that?

His last post was something akin to "haha in 5 months things are gonna get interesting"

This was roughly five months ago...

So what if MARVEL is going to announce that Spider-Man will be part of the MCU??

I went on his page. Which tweet are you talking about?

He's incredibly insensitive to the fans...

He deleted everything soon after. That's why I posted the screencaps.

He said he was trolling afterwards too, but that could be a means of not getting in trouble.

Ah, I see. I used to be more updated with Twitter before I deactivated my account.

I feel like we would have gotten at least as little as a smudge of information by now if the rumors were true.

why would anyone take that guys tweets as legit news? who is he? I've personally never heard of him

Please! please!! please!!! I hope you're right!

If Marvel reboots, we can get Dylan o' Brian for Peter and Kaya Scodelario for MJ, and *insert actor for Harry Osborn*
