Honestly, the whole Sinister Six movie makes no sense. De-emphasizing the character you desperately want to keep (Spider-Man) is going to make the GA more accepting of Spider-Man? It just sounds like Sony thinks they know how to copy how Marvel has been world building, but they have no clue. I think their pride will only sully the Spider-Man franchise even further.
I think their best move is to realize Marvel Studios knows what they are doing. I mean look at the Iron Man property before they made the first movie. Heck, just look what they did with Guardians of the Galaxy! I mean Guardians of the Galaxy! A racoon and a talking tree! Imagine what they could do with a property like Spider-Man!
I think Sony's best move, if they don't want to sell the rights back is to make a deal with Marvel Studios to reboot the character in the MCU. That would probably interest the GA. Then have Marvel Studios handle the creative side of making Spider-Man movies, with Sony co-financing and releasing the movies. Either share the profits or keep it Sony gets the movie profits and Disney keeps the merchandizing rights. That way, BOTH companies make more money on Spidey than they are getting now.
