Days of Future Past What you didn't like about X-Men:DOFP - Flaws/Critiques

Logan's butt shot did get a few snickers at my viewing, I guess it's just not something you'd see in a superhero movie, ....although even in Superman The Movie we did see little Kal-El's baby peepee when the Kents find him.

I was read that there was going to be a butt shot before I went to see the movie, but I was really surprised to not hear any response from the people in our audience. :p

When he mentioned it during the Tony Awards, someone in the audience went "Woohoo!!!" and Hugh said, "Thanks, mum!" :funny:

Was the shot necessary? No. But I'll take it. :oldrazz:

Same thing in Man of Steel.

Peter Dinklege not given much to bring him out
Erasing The Wolverine, X1 and 2
Trask not black
Emma Frost dead as with the red Night Crawler guy

As much as I didn't like January Jones, I was sorry that Emma Frost was killed, especially since the end of FC implied she would be a key player in the next film.

Peter Dinklage should have been allowed to cut loose and be really evil. He would have sunk his teeth into a juicy villain role. We saw evidence of his evil offscreen actions, but the script didn't give him anything interesting to do.

Ink and the spiky guy did nothing for me. Could have kept Banshee alive and put him in that scene.

I would have liked more time with the future mutants, even just a few more moments. Iceman and Colossus should have been allowed to take out at least one or two Sentinels before their deaths. Storm's death was beautifully filmed, but I would have liked a reaction shot from her teammates to highlight the tragedy (like Colossus' grief/rage in the comic).

Xavier was too easy on Magneto at the end. He should have shown some anger or said something threatening to let Magneto know who he was dealing with. Like in X1, when Xavier says something like, "I will always be there to stop you, old friend." And by "old friend," he clearly means "you son of b-----", lol!

I agree with the bold parts. :)

I do hope we get some extended scenes in the future when the DVD/Blu-Ray comes out. :jedi

The most disappointing about Emma getting cut is they ended First Class with Magneto recruiting her like as if it was a big deal and a tease to the next film but in the next film, she's dead and was killed off screen.

I didn't mind Azazel, Angel Salvadore and Riptide because those three seemed like disposable characters but Emma?

Very well made movie overall and maybe the best of the series. Things I didn't like was Emma's death, the unexplained time travelling powers of Shadowcat, the overall designs of the prototype sentinels, I think they looked too futuristic and slick instead of bigger and clunkier like the comic designs, they came off as a shiny Apple commercial and not threatening at all.

Finally, Eric controling with his magnetic powers the sentinels and changing the bullet's course to hit Raven. How is that even possible within the mythos science? I hate it when they do stuff like that.

And what was the point of shooting Raven and killing her since that would leave traces of blood anyways that Trask used as Eric told to Mystic when he confronted her at the airport.

what was wrong with Magneto being able to manipulate a bullet?

As for the second part, he probably didn't think of that. Chalk it up as an oversight on his part as he assumed that killing her would be enough

I don't understand how Magneto could control the Sentinels by infusing them with metal. How is that supposed to allow him to activate their computer systems, and make them attack people? Not sure if I missed something, but it sure seems like they got his powers extremely wrong.

I also don't understand how he lifted the whole stadium. It just took me right out of the movie.

Also, how did Logan survive drowning underwater?

He basically created his own circuitry from the railroad tracks and used it to reprogram the Sentinels. I think this is implied when you see the insides of the Sentinels beeping and lighting up in reaction to the metal wires traveling through them. We got a glimpse of Magneto studying the blueprints and we can assume he stayed up all night planning his sabotage. In the comics, Magneto is established as a proficient scientist in engineering and other fields. Perhaps Movie Magneto has some experience working with technology. I realize the films don't tell us anything about his educational background, but I like to imagine that that he did something edifying with his time before his Nazi hunt and meeting Xavier.

What didn't you like about the stadium stunt? We've already seen him lift the Golden Gate bridge and a nuclear submarine.

As for Wolverine being able to survive drowning, I'm been trying to explain that to myself and I got nothing. Anyone else?

I'm gonna go with the extreme hibernation theory as well. I'd like to know how long he was underwater and how Mystique knew he was there.

He can die by drowning in the comics, right?

- Mystique´s make up

- The scene where Wolverine sees Beast in Paris and shouts: The hell is that?! I laughed out loud but no one in the theatre did... I think it broke the tone of the scene (it was pretty intense)... or was that moment intended to be comical?

It was at least a day. One of the cops was reading a newspaper with story about the White House attack and Trask's arrest on the front page.

Mystique seemed to know exactly what she was doing when she found him, so I'm guessing someone (Erik? Someone else?) sent her there to get him.

rather then die so easily i would have preferred if Storm died in battle and taken out a few of the Sentinels one one one. They obviously can't adapt to her wide array of powers. It would have been cool if she would have blown that sentinel away into pieces. She should have sensed the sentinel coming. This movie-verse Storm reaction time is slow as hell tho, the real Storm reacts in less than a second.

1) I didn't find DOFP nearly as emotionally moving as X2 or 1st Class.
(particularly with loss of Jean Grey or Magneto's grief/revenge as well as feeling serenity as in the submarine/satellite dish movement)
I also thought human suffering should have been more depicted than the quick glipse that was shown at the beginning of the film.

2) I didn't like the way they made the time-travel plot, as Wolverines' "consciousness" goes back into time, instead of his physical form.
I thought it best to go like the "Terminator" origin and have his physical
bode traveling in time vs his "mind. " Basically saying would u prefer the
Matrix-mind or the Terminator-body traveling style.

3) how do you explain Quicksilver's head phones Walkman in an time era where they weren't invented yet?

4) I thought the ending with Wolverine waking up to see jean grey, Cyclops alive, Xmen was confusing and anti-climactic.

5) and yes, I too didn't understand the need to show Wolverine's
buck-naked moon in a supposedly PG-13 film.

The utility belt, portable stereo and cassette tapes were around at the time, but headphones were probably not in that design, according to this site's analysis. But, still, three out of four ain't bad.

Magneto can't reprogram computers by infusing them with metal.

The bridge and the sub are mostly made of metal, so it makes sense that he would be able to lift them, even if it strains his abilities to the limit. The stadium is mostly concrete. Hundreds of tons of concrete. He can't just lift anything, simply because it has metal inside of it. This was an egregious error.

Wolverine's drowning is even worse. His healing factor doesn't make him immortal. There were a lot of things I liked about this movie, but stuff like this just makes me feel that the writers & director don't really respect the source material.

Yes, he can.

I think he means the weight of all the other materials should make it harder, like lifting a piece of rebar by it self is easier than a piece of rebar surrounded by 100 tons of concrete
