Days of Future Past What you didn't like about X-Men:DOFP - Flaws/Critiques

I dont think, if it didnt stick with Magneto I doubt it would have stuck with her.

And what happened to Mystique after X3?

Yes, in this current series, they'd probably make it more like I suggested, but I don't think it's that high on the list at the moment.

Yeah, I'm super excited for Apocalypse right now, so the Savage Land and Shi'ar stuff isn't something I need in the near future.

That Rogue's DNA wasn't used to develop the Sentinels when her power was closer to the ability shown by them and not Mystique.

That Colossus was totally underused.
Why the heck would Rogue's powers be used? She wasn't born or around in the 70s. The future sentinels took decades to create. That was the implication after originally obtaining Mystique's DNA in 1973. By the time Rogue became known there was about 30 years thrown into that research and it wouldn't have made sense to just move onto some other mutant to try and adapt things as who knows how long it would take them to learn how to deal with her DNA and incorporate it into their tech

to be honest, they could easily spinoff the Shi'ar stuff into its own thing, kind of like GoTG. Have it be a Starjammers film that deals with the X-men side of the cosmic universe, namely, the Shi'ar, Phalanx and/or Brood

Still doesn't explain why the Sentinels had ability which resembled Rogues and not Mystiques. Since when has Mystique had the ability to replicate other mutants powers?

Havok also in a differnt timeline to his brother. :oldrazz:

The violence wasn't that bad. It was all CGI and bloodless.

But was the ass shot really necessary? Now I won't be able to take kids to the film.

Don't recall the ass shot. Was it really all that graphic?

Why not just tell your kids to cover their eyes? It wasn't that big a deal.

Just fan service for all the females out there and some males too.

Everything else in the film was generally family-friendly. Except of course the swearing, but that's in all films nowadays.

Yeah the whole dumping ground of corpses in the beginning sequence was really family-friendly but the ass shot dear me that was graphic! :whatever:

Did they? Mystique has the ability to shapeshift and that's what the sentinels were able to do. We saw them fight Blink, Bishop, Kitty, Colossus, Iceman, Sunspot, Magneto, Storm and Warpath. Who's powers did they replicate?

From memory One was able to freeze like Iceman and another burn like Sunspot. I had no problem with them having these abilities BTW.

They didn't replicate mutant powers. They adapted to them.

The Sentinels weren't meant to be Mystique clones. They definitely took her abilities further as they could change more than just their appearance.

If anything they were more like Darwin from First Class. Even a bit of Apocalypse as it was said that they could change their size and shape, they often turned their arms into weapons.

In the comics Nimrod had the ability to learn from each encounter. The same technique couldn't be used against him twice.

I don't recall freezing but that burn was an ability they already had. It wasn't taken from Sunspot

It's not like the corpses appeared as visually graphic. There wasn't blood or guts or anything bad for kids there.

That stuff and the violence was pretty safe. Even when all the X-men are killed. It's cartoony CGI.

Wolverine was impaled with rebar. I would consider that much worse than his bare ass. Also Iceman getting decapitated.

And everyone they kill you already know isn't going to die anyway since the mere existence of time travel gives them an easy out.

A butt shot isn't going to harm any children, plus you can tell when it is about to happen so very easy to avoid. Cover their eyes or take them to the bathroom real quick.

I really wish they had done a better job at making the returning cast look older. Only Iceman looked visibly older than X3. Rogue, Kitty and Colossus dont look to have changed much when its been over 15 years since we last saw them

The X-Men movies seem to be going for a more mature feel...willfully sacrificing the full money that is available to Marvel. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some movies are just not intended for everyone.

Ellen Page has that eternal teenager thing going on. That's probably what she'll actually look like in 2023.

No explanation whatsoever as to why Kitty has this new power or why Prof. X is alive

The time-lines make no sense, so the dystopian future is the same timeline as the original trilogy but it's a result of Mystique being captured and experimented on even though she's free in the original trilogy?

Thank you. I refrained from talking about it because it's just so obvious a load of BS that I guessed it had been discussed to death by now.

To me it's less of a "more mature" feel and more of a "we're full of ourselves" feel to this franchise.
