Play Misty for Me

A nice little Clint Eastwood thriller, but much like Fatal Attraction, the film can make you apprehensive about engaging in a fling or one night stand. Especially if they turn out to be obsessive.

The Green Lantern. Never saw it before, actually didn't find it as godawful as it's been made out to be. Nothing special though.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)

3/5

Not as bad as I thought it would be.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Before this viewing I had only seen it once at the cinema. It's not as bad as I expected in all honesty, but it's still easily the worst in the franchise and a disappointment. I could go on, but I'll just say I'm not in a rush to see it again.

Nowhere near the level of LOTR but still an enjoyable fun film, despite it's numerous flaws.

3.5/5

Jane Fonda is incredible as a cynical and damaged call girl who could be the key to private investigator Klute's missing person case. In truth the mystery aspect is dreary and meandering, but the film is really about attitudes to sex and sexual repression. Klute is a very dry character and has very few lines outside of asking detective questions, like most 70's films a lot is implied rather than spoken, Fonda's Bree though is magnetic and elevates the whole film. 7.5/10

End of Watch.
Good film. Loved the chemistry between Pena and Gillenhall (an underrated actor imo)

Les Miserables: 4/5

A stellar film with great performances and songs all around. Had a very enjoyable time watching it, and even sung along quietly with some of my friends. Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway turn in Oscar worthy performances.

Though I do have some criticism. I thought Tom Hooper's direction and the film's cinematography was quite frustrating at times. Annoying camera angles and out of focus shots. The only time the drawn out close-up really worked was during I Dreamed A Dream. Some of the editing was also jarring and hurt the pace. I couldn't believe some of the unintentionally funny moments that occurred during the film as well, particularly:

Javert's Suicide. That THWACK was completely unnecessary and ruined the song to some extent.

The film was still immensely enjoyable though and I had a great time. I didn't shed any tears though like I thought I was going to.
