What's The Last Movie You Watched? - - Part 19

It's directed by Kurt Wimmer and like with Equilibrium he finds a gimmick to define his action, on this occasion it's close quarter combat and Bosworth does pretty well with this given he's not trained and the fight scenes are shot pretty well.

The big problem is that it should stick to being a straight up action, revenge thriller, instead it clumsily tries to shoehorn in social commentary on the cyclical nature of violence in the hood, and has so many double crosses it meets itself coming back.

Bruce Payne has himself a lot of fun playing the main bad guy though, the only FBI agent in history with an 80's Michael Bolton mullet and two nose rings.

5 Broken Cameras

Intense documentary about the Palestinians nonviolent protesting in the West Bank. You follow a man who's relentless about filming everything that goes on, it's an awe to see how it plays out. There's many moments where he was this close to get shot for just filming. Most importantly it's not playing up to any political gain, it's really showing the day to day lives of these people just surviving.

Agreed. I maintain my opinion that his two best films are Above The Law and Marked For Death.

Many people praise Under Seige as his best film, but I disagree. Tommy Lee Jones' character was built up to be a total badass, a worthy adversary of Steven Seagal's. But in their climactic fight, which lasted all of 30 seconds, Tommy Lee Jones gets cut and stabbed about a dozen times and his head driven into a computer monitor, while Steven Seagal gets a tiny little cut over his eye. THAT's supposed to be an even match up? The climaxes of Above The Law and Marked For Death are far less one sided, making them far more exciting and thus, more entertaining.

Under Siege seems like a typical action film until the end. That knife felt very schlocky to me. Like something out of a bad horror film. I still say it's his best film because of the character and his Playboy model side-kick. Above the Law and Marked for Death are good. I even liked Under Siege 2.

I love the scene in Hard to Kill when he encounters robbers in a convenience store. That was hilarious. The only Seagal film I haven't watched from his heyday is Out for Justice. That looks truly awful.

Silver Lining Playbook - 8/10

These have to be the most likeable people with mental problems. I thought it was a good romantic comedy. Cooper , De Niro , and Lawrence all do a great job. Also it was a nice surprise to see Chris Tucker doing a dramatic role. I enjoyed this a lot.

Universal Soldier : Day of Reckoning 6/10

I was really looking forward to this. The story is out there and somewhat dull. I loved the action scenes though. Adkins and Arlovski have some really enjoyable fight scenes. It could of just followed these two characters. Lundgren and JCVD are only in it briefly , but they make the most of their time. The last fight seemed inspired by Apocalypse Now. Overall it has good action , but it's a step down from the last one. There's some scenes where the screen flashes repeatedly. I'm surprised there's not a disclaimer warning people prone to seizures.

Soldiers of Fortune - 5/10A straight to video film with a decent cast ( Sean Bean , Christian Slater , Dominic Monaghan , Ving Rhames , and James Cromwell). It's a ridiculous premise , but it seems to work for the most part. I did enjoy the last half hour , but this could of been so much better. The cast is majorly underutilized . The first few minutes are laughably bad with Christian Slater storming a compound. I wonder why he can't get better work than this.

God Bless America- 5/10

I like the premise but it just becomes redundant and pointless after awhile. There's some funny moments but I was expecting something better. The film does do a great job parodying all the garbage that's on t.v. , but it's so similar to the real thing that it becomes less amusing and more depressing.

It wasn't that bad. I actually liked it more than Under Siege 2.

Was it any good? I watched the first 1/3 and intended to return to it, but never did.

It's worth checking out, I wasn't expecting much from it but it really turned out great.

Same here. Not a big fan of Butler, but I would say this is his best role and performance.

I thought it was really fun. It's over the top and what you'd expect from the trailers , but they were able to pull it off. Renner seems good in anything he does. I liked the make-up and visual effects. Also there's a lot of good action. I was expecting the cgi to be worse but they did a really good job with the troll character and the 3D aspects. It's also self aware and that makes it more enjoyable.

Silent Hill revelations. It's as corny as people say. The only good things was it's less than 90 mins

Movie 43. Less than zero/10. Worst ****ing movie I've ever seen.

Don't get me wrong, the action in the movie was great. It was an interesting, if unoriginal, story. And any time where you get to see Erika Eleniak naked is a good time had by all. But the main villain should never, EVER, go down as easily as Tommy Lee Jones did in this movie. ESPECIALLY after such a huge buildup of him being this badass assassin (when the government tried to "retire him", he mailed the index fingers of the two assassins they had after him back to them). It had a great build up, but failed with the climax.

As for Out For Justice, you're not missing much. Only reason the final fight with the main badguy takes so long is because Seagal's character wants to torture the guy. Again, the hero should dominate the nameless lackies, not the main badguy.

Richard Roeper calls it the Citizen Kane of awful.
