More like an outline and notes for a good movie, than a good film itself. Well-cast, but half-heartedly executed, with indifferent direction, a schematic script, unfunny jokes, and so-so production values.

This was really damn good. I think maybe it's a bit tonally inconsistent with the insane Japanese sadists and some stuff like that, where it feels too cartoony compared to some of the other stuff.
Selma Hayek freakin' nails this role. It's so primal and womanly. There's another amazing performance by the unknown Akie Kotabe as a gangster who spends the films with a bullet in his gut Mr. Orange style, but he plays it much differently.
Just finished watching this on Encore On Demand and was really impressed by it. This was John Wayne at his peak and the restoration of this classic looks phenomenal. The action throughout is superb, the performances are outstanding, the story is excellent and the climax is epic. An absolute must see for fans of the Western genre.
