Star Wars The Last Jedi

To sum it up, it's a decent Star Wars movie that has a lot of squandered moments. Where The Force Awakens did a tremendous job on setting up a new story (despite borrowing moments from the original), this one takes it and never follow up on it. Much like with The Dark Knight Rises, this movie feels fractured by doing too many things in too many places and almost none of it feels very developed. There's a lot of wasted opportunity with a lot of characters like Poe, Finn, Maz, and all the others that had a small part in the previous movie. There's also a giant casino scene that felt forced. That being said, there are a lot of great moments in this mixed bag. The scenes involving Rey and Luke and the scenes with Kylo Ren were amazing. They do some unexpected things with them which I very appreciated. The action scenes were good but once we get a real lightsaber battle, then it kicks it up a notch. The directing by Rian Johnson was great. The script however needed a lot more work. Overall, it's still a fun Star Wars movie, but it's the weakest of the new ones.

The Crucifixion

It's a demonic possession horror where they actually put in the time and money to make it. The movie takes place in Romania so they make great use of the location and they shot it really well. The story of the girl being possessed is actually pretty interesting and some of the acting is actually pretty good. Where the movie falls apart for me is making that story as a background and instead, you follow an American journalist trying to cover the story. Every scene she's in takes away any goodwill this movie has to offer. She very pretty, but she simply can't act. Which is very strange because she wasn't bad as Roxy in the Kingsman movies. There's some cheap jump scares but some of them kinda worked. This movie should have been just about the flashbacks and it would have made for a better movie.
