Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)

One of my favorite Showa era Godzilla movies to rewatch. I thought the mythology and world building were interesting. The demolition used during the fights scenes and the model city-scapes felt bigger and more impressive that the previous Toho kaiju films. The aliens turning into monkey men was kind of hilarious and reminded me of John Chambers special effects make-ups in the original Planet of the Apes. Not only do we get the title characters fighting but we also get the reappearance of Anguirus plus a King Ceasar team up. The final fight scene is pretty epic and there's a surprising amount of blood during the climax.

Avengers Infinity War Marathon: The Avengers (2012)

I've seen this one so many times way back then that I know every scene by heart. It's the movie that did the impossible and it manages to hold up 6 years later. I know people complain about the "TV quality-ness" of the movie, but I dug that a lot. Especially when you're rewatching it at home with a huge ass screen because you don't have those black bars around. Everything looks vibrant and clear. But yeah, it's great and it belongs at the upper echelon of comic book movies.

A Quiet Place

I'm a sucker for survival horror especially when it's done very meticulously with great acting. This is essentially what we were promised with Alien 3 all those years ago. John Krasinski did a fantastic job making this, he took what worked in the first Alien movie and set it in a rural town. Even though it might bore some, I enjoyed the long stretches of no sound or dialogue because they were done at the right moments. As for the creature itself, it looked and sounded great even if it's a derivative of the xenomorph. Overall, it's one of the best horror movies out there right now.

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I feel like the director wanted this movie to be like a sex comedy like Superbad, but it falls short on the memorable jokes. I thought Cena did a great job which isn't surprising considering how funny he was in Trainwreck. What surprised me were the girls in here. You almost wish the whole movie was centered on the three girls because acting wise, they were naturals. Overall, it's not great, but it's still fun during parts of it.

A Quiet Place


After an apocalyptic event brought on by creatures that attack by sound, a family does their best to survive,
deal with loss, and hopefully find other survivors.

20 minutes into the film i was already attached to the characters.The chemistry between Emily Blunt and
John Krasinski was to be expected because hey they're married in real life,but the young actors who portray their children: Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe and Cade Woodward are knock your socks off good !!
I really didnt expect to be so effected emotionally so that was a nice surprise.
Krasinski puts so much passion and skill into his direction,into every scene with great use of sound and wonderful moments between the family members,completely tying me to their plight.
It's as if he's been directing for 30 years.

There was a moment that was very predictable.and some decisons made by the characters,i couldnt go along with because of the envirionment they are in.

Still this is a great example of involving,suspenseful and edge of your seat entertainment.

You Were Never Really Here



Ex Soldier,now hired gun Joe(Joaquin Phoenix) is hired to rescue a young girl from a sex ring an unforseen twist occurs and bloody mayhem follows.

I went in thinking this film was going to be one note but with a completely intense and dedicated to the role performance from Phoenix,and Direction from Lynne Ramsay this turned out to be something riveting and unnerving.
As Joe goes on his mission and deals with his PTSD, Ramsay entrances visually and thats coupled with some great sound
editing.
What also plays well is the sometimes frustrating but loving relationship Joe has with his mother portrayed by Judith Roberts.

At times the film can be a little to artsy and it actually took me out of the film here and there,but as i said before there are really some truly mesmerizing scenes coupled with some great choreography,that makes it highly watchable

The apron strings are being cut as soon as the kids start applying to far away colleges and losing their virginity on prom night.It's unavoidable and such is the plight of Lisa (Leslie Mann), Mitchell (John Cena), and Hunter (Ike Barinholtz)
as they try to stop their daughters from hitting the sheets with their prom dates.

If a movie can take a theme that has been done to death in movies and sitcoms and add some new flavor to it im all for it.
The three lead girls Julie (Kathryn Newton) , Kayla (Geraldine Viswanathan) and Sam (Gideon Adlon) have great chemistry
The three parental leads play well together ,plus they are also able to add some heart to the film as loving parents,with their own appealing back stories.
Most of the jokes and sight gags worked,there are a few good cameos.

When the jokes dont work,the film kind of grinds to a halt,with some ok lets move along moments.
This was a very good comedy with its heart in the right place

Chappaquiddick


Another tragic chapter in the life of The Kennedys plays out on the big screen in Chappaquiddick.
The plot details the 1969 Chappaquiddick incident, wherein Senator Kennedy drove his car into a lake, killing Mary Jo Kopechne, and the subsequent political and social ramifications.

What stays with me from this film was how not only how callous Ted Kennedy was but also how Joe Gargan and
Paul F. Markham who's loyalty to him blurred the lines of doing the right thing.As the tragedy played out on screen and an older woman sitting next to me in the theatre gasped and moaned ,i said to myself i feel you honey because Ted waited 9 hours to report the accident and Joe and Paul went back to a party !!
Another scene that hit me hard was when Ted's father Joe assembled men of influence to help Ted,they scold him like a child and work him like a puppet it was both farcical and sad at the same time.
The film is well acted by the cast,and it all plays out in a haunting and watchable manner.

There are some meandering moments and i started getting sleepy.

The Kennedy brothers were always able to display sincereness and genuineness,and Ted never made it to the Presidential chair but the aforementioned sure as hell kept him seated in the Senate for over 40 years

Thor: Ragnarok to cap off watching every* MCU movie released so far on Blu-Ray. It took a week or two to go through them all but they were all enjoyable. Even The Dark World isn't quite that bad.

*Excepting The Incredible Hulk which barely connects with the rest of the universe, and I don't have it on Blu-Ray yet. And obviously Black Panther which I did see at release few months back.

Paterno

Pacino is good but the film feels flimsy. I would have preferred a more detailed examination of the actual accusations rather than the media fallout of 2011.
