I love the electro idea... I also always thought an Electro/Sandman or HydroMan team up would be incredibly interesting. It's too bad we probably wont see sandman again.. i always pictured a scene where the 2 are fighting spidey, and electro is ultra-powered by draining the city of power... and spidey tricks him into accidentally blasting sandman, turning him to glass (great way to show his smarts with a science reaction). but.... sadly that wont happen. Hydro-man would be interesting (unfortunately you can't do that scene, but hey... spidey's in a lot more trouble since water conducts electricity...
Id like Black Cat to get peter back on the horse, but almost be like a drug.. the emotional fall out and turmoil over gwen makes him not want to deal with his peter parker life and instead choose an escapism. He becomes hero full time, obsessed with helping people and fighting crime while shurking his peter parker responsibilities. (think about it as him not wanting to face the issue at hand, it's a very typical psyke response) He feels safe with felicia (maybe she's a year or 2 older) and thinks she's perfect for him because she can protect herself (unlike how gwen could not) but he eventually learns that Felicia isn't the best thing for him either... she nearly get's killed by a villain (maybe he has ties to her father?) after dumping peter. Peter comes to her rescue anyway of course.
I think it's a natural progression an easily relatable to the audience (even though both are costumed characters)
but.. as for legends idea... its not bad. just I really hope this franchise isn't afraid to step away from the "web of connections" I don't think peter, his family, or norman should have a personal connection with everyone he faces (let alone felicia). but... I think if using felicia.. it's actually a good opportunity to have that villain be connected through her.
Yes! Thats exactly what I wanted, there was a scrapped subplot in Spider-Man 2 similar to this, that really served as my inspiration. I think the movie should be a bit of a character study on the type of personality it takes, to dress up in a costume and create a new persona for yourself.
I don't think that Black Cat should be connected to Peters parents but rather have an origin from someone like say the Miles Warren or Adrian Tombes, who is now in charge of Oscorp and was a business partner of Norman Osborn. I don't know I just really like the idea of a subplot about Harry having a trust fund and someone trying to gain control of the corporation, by sending him spiraling down the path of destruction.
The reason I really want Electro to be a supporting character is because his inferiority complex makes him one of the most interesting and relatable of Spider-Mans rogues. The fact he's one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe but his lack of confidence holds him back is great. I want to see him get bullied and picked by his bosses, Harry and Miles/Tombes/whoever and just other people in his life, then when he gets superpowers he wants to become a hero like Spider-Man that people will look up to. Given the post death of Gwen Stacy timeline, he could go after Spider-Man for killing her, putting him into conflict with him. I also think a scene where he's measuring how many amps he's putting out, then later something goes wrong and he measures again only to find to his horror his powers are fading. Leading him to kidnap Harry and try to recreate the accident that made him.
I want Black Cat to be a product of some kind of genetic experiment, feeling violated for what was done to her, she's trying to find the monster who did this to her. I also want her origin to involve being taken advantage of by an ex boyfriend, and maybe signing up for the process so she wouldn't have to worry about being overpowered by a man ever again. This would make her attraction to Spider-Man much more psychological, her insecurities about being overpowered, leads her to try to seduce the only man who can. Maybe show her flirting with Electro after his appearance but being turned off by his obvious lack of confidence. This would explain why she's so quick to turn down Spider-Man when she sees who he really is, just a normal guy, not this icon she's lusting after.
Meanwhile have Mary Jane be Harry's girlfriend, trying to seek out Peter for help while he's taken up only being Spider-Man, as Harry slips deeper into his addiction and him being his only true friend. Harry slipping into madness at the hands of Warren/Tombes/ect would be the price Peter pays, the thing that teaches him that he's worth something as Peter Parker too.
I want the climax of the film to be Miles Warren/Tombes setting a trap for Spider-Man and the Black Cat at Oscorp, revealing himself to be the mad man that created the Black Cat. He traps Spider-Man, explaining maybe he and richard did work when he was a child and that he's the one specimen he's had that he's never been able to study. That he and Norman were doing genetic tests based off Connors cross species work and that Norman originally created the Goblin persona to get rid of the loose ends who knew about the experiments. That he let Black Cat go because he knew she would seek out Spider-Man thinking he was an escaped victim of her as well. Maybe settling the parents arc once and for all. He explains he's been influencing Harry to get drugged up enough to do something crazy and that he will soon have full control over the company.
Then a crazed Electro breaks in with Harry and his girlfriend as hostages, and immediately over powers Warren/Tombes, and makes the scientist attempt to recreate his work. By the time Warren/Tombes Electro kills him and Peter breaks free telling him not to trust him, that the doctor was a sick cruel man, and that if he tries to regain his full powers he's probably done something that will kill him. Electro explains that Max was nothing and that he was a no one, he couldn't do anything right, this is the only way he can ever hope to be anyone or even be happy. Then Peter explains how he's no one specially either, Max ignores his warnings and tries to regain his powers anyway but is transformed into pure energy and vanishes into nothing (a metaphor for how if you hold onto your insecurities they will consume you.)
Black Cat should get amnesia and forget everything happened to her prior to the rape and Peter lets her be so she can live a normal life. Harrys having gone nuts is committed, and Mary Jane and Peter seem like they will grow a relationship. IMO a great post Gwens death story.
EDIT: I would also love a snowy christmassy atmosphere, having cold winter and the cheery holidays give the movie an eery Batman Returns vibe, but with Spider-Man's charm.
