Captain Marvel Who do you want to see as Captain Marvel? - Part 4

I'm fairly certain the MCU version of Carol will be of the long-haired variety. Especially with the Russos being the ones who will likely introduce her. Joss kept trying to go with a short-haired Natasha, only for the Russos to immediately undo it in their films following each of his. I'm glad they did too... I hated the look Black Widow had in each of the Avengers films. The darker, longer hair humanized the character a bit more.

Agreed. Whedon needs to stay away from female superheroes and their hair. The longer hair is also better for mass appeal. I don't think she needs super-long hair going down to her arse, like back in her Ms Marvel days, but at least medium length.

Right there with you... I love Joss, but he didn't have the best eye for the way certain characters should look.

As for Carol's hair. I'm pretty sure the way Brie's hair looks right now is the look Carol will have. It's long, but not too long, and can easily be pulled back or up if need be. There is absolutely nothing at all wrong with short hair on women, but yeah... with Captain Marvel being the first MCU film headlined by a woman, they will almost definitely go with a look that will appeal to the majority of both women and men. In other words, anyone hoping for Carol to have a mohawk or a fauxhawk probably shouldn't hold their breath.

Nope... No pact at all... 😉

So, what are the chances that Marvel would fly Brie in to SDCC and make the announcement official at a Captain Marvel panel? Brie is currently filming the Glass Castle, so I don't know. Maybe she can Skype in?

I don't mean this to be rude, but y'all are putting way too much stock in the haircut. Nobody is gonna boycott the movie because of her hair length.:lmao:

Well, excuse me if my perfect version of Carol Danvers is one where she actually has hair. If you ask me, it's Marvel that has made a big deal about her haircut, always changing it. I just happen to like the longer hair better. And, who's talking about boycotting the movie? Besides, it's not like Marvel will actually adopt the atrocious mohawk or pixie cut.

Nobody was attacking you. I was saying the talk about how she needs to have long hair or the movie won't be a hit or how giving Black Widow short hair was Whedon harming the character was what I found extremely silly.

They sold the public on a movie about Rocket Raccoon, I'm sure they can sell the public on any haircut they please.

Fanboys are just teenage girls in disguise. Really, tell me I'm wrong. :o

Don't insult teenage girls. I was never as ridiculous as fanboys when I was a teen. :oldrazz:

So, I guess the speculation of Feige wanting to cast Daddario because he follows her on Twitter turned out to be false. I guess ol' Feige follows Daddario for the same reason he follows Kate Upton. :oldrazz:

Who knows? Maybe he wants her for some other role, though.

That speculation was started by me. I brought up Feige following her on Twitter, but I never said he was following her because she would be Carol.

Nobody said the movie would be a hit if she doesn't have long hair. I just said that longer hair would appeal to a mass audience. My comments about Whedon were twofold. I hated Black Widow with short hair and I don't like how Whedon treated the character with the Brutasha romance and her "being a monster." Although, I understand what Whedon really meant, I do believe that scene could have been handled better.

I'd have been more than happy with Alexandra Daddario. It's unfortunate that most of the attention she gets tends to be for... er... things other than her acting ability. She's actually a really phenomenal actress.

As for Chastain, as much as I love her as an actress, I just can't see her as Carol for some reason. I'd give her a chance if she had gotten the role... And I'm sure I's end up loving her take on the character. She just wouldn't be someone I's want for the role.

One actress who I would have loved to see get the role in Mary Elizabeth Winstead. I know... I know... she's basically been fancast by everyone as every female superhero in the last few years, but still. I'm starting to think she's just not interested in joining a comic book film franchise.

Having said all that, I'm over the moon thrilled that Brie is the one Marvel wants. I know some people aren't sold on her yet, but for my money, she's basically the perfect choice for Carol.

Alexandra or Alison Brie for Spider-Woman or She-Hulk would be great.

I think there's a reason why Whedon gave BW short hair in his movies, it's because he didn't want to overtly sexualize the character. Long hair on women for many centuries in many cultures is associated with a woman's sexuality and attractiveness. But the short hair style in AoU backfired because if Scarjo doesn't look good it fails to distract from her BW's shortcomings which are more noticeable.

ehh, yeah, not a great look for her
she rocks the long hair much better

Yeah, I don't think she looks very good with short hair. Her face is kind of on the larger side, so short hair, especially like that, makes it look even larger and a bit too masculine. I think she needs longer hair to frame her face. If the contours of her face were different, short hair might suit her as it does some women, but Brie is not one of those women.

Again, I really don't care about any of that. I was just saying folks on here were dreaming if they think the deciding factor of the movie's success is gonna be whether or not Carol has long hair, or that the problem with the Avengers movies was Black Widow having short hair.

That's a message board nitpick, not something that actually matters.

Never said I would. Just sayin' it looks rather......bad....and reminded me of the fauxhawk....which I think looks rather.....bad.....

EDIT: Oh....this became quite the talking point I see.....

I don't think anyone's saying the movie will fail if she has short hair, you're exaggerating the sentiment, i think

some were just sayin she looks better with it longer
no drama, no boycott's, just calmly stating our preference

It wasn't you or InCali, it was the two posters saying since this is the first female movie they need to go with long hair for mass appeal so it doesn't flop.

Since I'm one of the people you're referring to, I'd appreciate it if you would kindly refrain from putting words in my mouth from now on. I never said the movie's success would come down to what Carol's hair looks like or that I would get angry or boycott the film if I didn't like the look that gets chosen. Neither did Mike5575 for that matter. All we were saying is that TPTB are likely going to give Carol a look that they feel will have the biggest mass appeal to both women and men. Part of this includes making a decision as to what her hair looks like.

That's kind of hideous. God, it reminds me of that really terrible fauhawk.

IA. They better not make her cut her hair. Some women can rock it, and others cant. Thats close enough to the comic look and it looks bad on her

Theron can rock the short and short short hair while looking absolutely feminine. Larson's skull shape is much too big for that kind of haircut to look good IMO.

This wouldn't work on Brie Larson, ever.

Theron looks hot with a BALD head smeared with grease, a black eye, bloody lip, dressed like desert rat, and with one arm.

What's new?
