Who do you want to see as Captain Marvel?

Brit Marling has been my choice for Supergirl forever, though she's probably too old now (though I personally wouldn't mind a Supergirl who is about the same age as Clark). But she could be great as Carol too.

Carol Danvers. Kara Danvers. Same diff. :o

Incidentally, I've seen Laura Vandervoort described as a poor man's Charlize Theron, whom people have suggested for Carol. Don't know if that would make her a cheaper and younger alternative to someone like Charlize then.

Ronda Rousey? Really??

Rousey is to Carol Danvers is what Triple H is to Thor.

Also, Taylor Swift?

If Blunt was cast now, Marvel will (again) be criticized for playing it safe.

However, she was rumored for the role back in 2012... And if Marvel got Boseman-- who was rumored early last year and stuck to him, you'd imagine they'll try to do the same with Blunt. I hope so.

Safe for what?

You could almost say Boseman was safe since many fancasted him as well.

Marvel will be accused of casting safe whoever they cast. Blunt? Safe. Strahovski? Safe. Chastain? Safe.

Blunt would be terrific... I think she fits with the current Avengers cast perfectly.

I'll be happy with Blunt or Strahovski but I'm leaning more towards out of the box castings for this role.

Like I said earlier, I think Abby Elliott would be great and is definitely still my number 1 pick .

But maybe Mae Whitman?

....Her?

I'm sorry, that's basically an auto-response at this point whenever people bring her up. I can't stop myself.

Michael Shanks as Michael Korvac?

EDIT: Now it occurs to me we already have one Daniel Jackson actor (Spader) as an Avengers foe, so why not another? :funny:

Why not? He already got to be Hawkman. :D

Yeah I forgot about the original movie connection! I'm usually so wrapped in the shows over the original film!

I love Emily Blunt but...the choice is so crystal clear for me:

Charlize IS Carol Danvers. I don't give a damn that she's in her late 30s. That hasn't stopped anyone else (Halle Berry is STILL flawless at nearly 50 years old) and she is an Oscar Winning heavy hitter that this franchise needs. We have to remember too that Captain Marvel is Marvel's ultimate answer to DC's Wonder Woman (since they can't use Storm anyway) and she needs to be glamorous. Emily Blunt is gorgeous and glamorous in a way. But Charlize is stunning.

I think Charlize should be saved for Enchantress, because you need a beautiful actress with lots of gravitas for a villainess.

I'm not sure how old Carol is in the comics but I assumed she was in her early 30s. If Captain Marvel becomes a trilogy we're looking at 10 years from now still watching her movies. For that reason, I think they should pick someone in their 20s or early 30s. So, I'm sticking with Margot Robbie:

I really want Emily blunt to play carol then Meryl streep as Abigail brand then kamala khan as the main protaganist and then the entire movie is just the devil wears prada in space.

And then I die of happiness

As I've said before, Emily Blunt is the best choice
- Played similar roles before in terms of action and attitude
- Award-winning actor (not academy yet, but she's young)
- Star Power, second billing on lots of big successful films
- Good relationship with the MCU (second choice for Widow)

If your response is she 'doesn't do it for you' or she looks hotter with dark hair, then you're missing the point. She's not a love interest, she's the main character. Chris Evans may not do it for you either, but would that be why you wouldn't cast him as Captain America. Jennifer Lawrence doesn't really do it for me either, but Hunger Games is my ish. There are lots of other great actresses who could play the part well, but Blunt is the best positioned to career wise, from what I've seen.

There is this thing about 'I don't buy her in action scenes.' But that would require an at length conversation about what determines whether you "buy" a woman in action scenes or not. Do you really want to have that convo? I do... but do you?

This. So much this. Emily would be perfect in the role.

I made this today when I was supposed to be working. XD

I'd really love someone tall. Gwendoline Christie, Kristanna Loken, someone with a solid frame who's not a waif who'll blow over in a stiff breeze.
