The Rise of Skywalker Who Should Direct Episode IX?

He's competent. TFA wasn't horrible, it did what it needed to in order to restore the Star Wars name.

I'm just hoping that the third act doesn't involve cutaways between a space battle, rebel battle on the ground where they have to destroy something on the ground to help the space battle, and lightsaber duel between Kylo and Rey.

God knows we don't need anymore of those.

ähem sry to disapoint you but every SW Movies has a third act like that just saying

Honestly, at this point I feel like I'm pretty much done with this sequel trilogy (and probably most of the revival series overall). Yes, I'll probably go to see them (if my family has an interest in going at least), but I'm pretty much done taking them seriously, they're not really part of my Star Wars universe anymore. With Abrams in charge there's little chance of a well thought out storyline or developed characters. I'll go into TLJ expecting a rehash of ESB with Furbies, and I'll go into Ep. 9 expecting Starkiller base 2.

You weren't don't well before this?

But I think Abrams is smarter than that. He's come out and copped to some of the places where he fumbled with TFA. What's more worrisome is that they got the guy that wrote BVS to script it.

I thought Terrio only came on to punch up the existing script by Goyer, no?

I'm fine with JJ Abrams coming back to close the trilogy. He wasn't my first choice as I wanted Ron Howard or Rian Johnson to take on E9 but JJ is perfectly fine.

This is a clear attempt to mimic the OT. 1st and 3d movies directed by the same guy! :o

With JJ coming back I am just going to expect a rehash of ROTJ with just an updated story. I don't really expect anything from him since TFA was nothing but ANH and ESB mashed into one movie.

Why would you support them if you hate what they're doing? They've burned you twice already and are setting fire to the hope you have in the franchise. If you give them your money you're explicitly supporting what they've done.

Love having JJ back  Knew I'd see Kenneth and Grootster complaining in multiple threads claiming they're done with Star Wars and RIP. And yet they'll continue to ***** about it non stop.

And there goes my interest level. :csad:

I'll see the film because it's Star Wars and I'll have seen TFA and TLJ, but the latter will end up being the only modern SW film for which I'll have been genuinely excited.

I am with you on it.i hope luke survives the last jedi.I am more intrested in the last jedi than any other star wars film since disney bought it.

hopefully Luke is in it so one key character from ot is in it.still be intresting hos abrams will explain Leia depture offscreen.return of OT cast defently helped intrest in TFA and apart from han they didn't have big roles.

abrams has too much history of trying with his films to retread other films.
although that may be what Kennedy wants.

good observation.though this may be more anh and empire rehash since abrams and his collegues don't seem to like ROTJ much.still don't be surprised if starkiller2 is in it.

Abrams may be a safe choice, but he's still the same guy who made the best SW movie since Empire. The fact that he also happens to not be Colin Trevorrow is definitely a plus too.

I don't know which of these outrageous comments I can take seriously.

I'm ok with this but they should have chosen someone else. I liked that there was supposed to be a different director for each movie like in the original trilogy. Also The Force Awakens could have been a lot better.

Screw it I am just going to come out and say it. ROTS was much better than TFA and RO and ANH.:o That was a good emotional movie. I really felt for Anakin and understood why he kind of turned to the dark side.

I thought his turn to the dark side was too fast. He was completely normal just few scenes before.

You see we never saw his full turn because Anakin never fully turned to the dark side. He was always planning on over throwing Palpatine. He only planned to go along with things long enough to learn how to save his wife.

I am in a dancing mood. :atp:

Well... that is your opinion.

I wanted Rian Johnson, but this is probably the second best choice. JJ a huge upgrade over Trevorrow. Legitimately excited for Episode 9.

You mean the movie where he was killing his wife until Obi-Wan told him to stop. The movie where he is talking about his brand new Empire and just helped murder thousands of Jedi, including a room full of kids? Really? :funny:
