Who Watches the Critics? The Critic Response Thread

Review on the WatchmenComicMovie forums is disappointing...

Man, all this is starting to get a little bit worrying...still definatly waiting to see to judge though.

But, I do have a question, its a bit silly but still. Does it feel like it focuses more on the action sequences or the plot and characters? Does it feel like a smart, thought-provoking movie in a Blade Runnery way (Best analogy I can think of.) or does it have a feel more like most comic book movies?

I like what I've seen mostly, just a little nervous. Hence the dumbass question :P

I haven't, hehe, I must be a bit behind. Thanks a lot!

Oddly, thats one of the better reviews of it so far. Not in terms of praise but in quality of review, it doesn't overly rave it or overly bash it.

Exactly. It's negative, or at least less than expected, but also probably the most valid out of all the reviews (if you can call some of them that LOL) so far...which scares me.

DAMN! No "I did it!" or the final scene between Adrian and Dr Manhattan. I SO wanted to see how those 2 scenes played out.

*sigh* Oh well.

Oh, don't get me wrong, its worrying. It'll probably get alot of reviews like this, I know everyone compares it to Blade Runner but thats really how this movie is seeming to me, with all the alternate versions and stuff.

Well, according to the reviews so far, I doubt this will have more of an impact than TDK. BUT, I need to wait and see.

i don't give a damn if the movie will be panned or praised by the critics. Either way, i will still love this movie.

Don't get me wrong, I will love this movie. But, we are (at least I am) hardcore fans of the book, being praised by critics will help it's popularity with the general audiences who haven't read the book.

Oh, you guys haven't seen the one I was talking about yet? Here ya go...

Thats a pretty truthful review. I think that some people will feel/react differently about the issues he brought up though. I understand what hes saying, but I think a 6.5 out of 10 is a little drastic. I'd give it a 8. Although I have no idea what normal people will think, I think people that are sort of familiar with the book will love it more than people that have alot of it memorized and in the front of their minds. But I also think that a few issues won't stop people from loving it.

Man I can feel the awkwardness rising within me.

I'm seeing Watchmen with my dad and its going to be SO awkward.

hahah YES IT IS!! i took my friend and it was akward. sex scenes especially, you hear your *wooooohs* and then people laugh but you realize its longer than you expected and then AWKWARD SILENCE. after the movie comes out we have to have a "crowd reaction" thread.

OH GOD! I don't know how I'm gonna get through it.

Especially the rape scene.

*cowers in corner crying*

Wait. "Nothing ever ends" and "I did it!" are cut?

It's getting near impossible to keep any optimism about the flick at this point...

The "I did it." can be emphasised via acting without the yelling of it. I do agree with the 'Nothing ever ends though.', thats probably the change that bugs me the most in the entire movie.
