hahahaha oy ve!!!!
Well you have to figure the actual norse gods weren't so different. lol

There was a vid on youtube from comic con where Chris was blatantly checking a woman out who was asking him a question. I don't know if I could find it now, its one of those standard red carpet interview things.

Double post. This hype lag is killer

I'd think that Nick Fury wouldn't have any qualms chewing out Thor's ass, God or no God, though if his reluctance to harm Loki endangers innocent civilians.

I don't find that believable at all, "oh I'm just gonna sit here and take a tongue lashing from someone I could kill with a flick of my finger".

No matter how many times it happened in the comics, I still don't buy it one bit.

LOL. I guess I know that video you're talking about.:D

Watching back to Thor's characterization in EMH's, where he feels the need to stay in Midguard/Earth rather than being in Asgard due to him thinking that Earth needs him more as a result of seeing so much chaos and threats constantly on the horizon, I wouldn't be surprised if the events of the Avengers leads to making Thor think that he needs to be on Earth more often, and thus slowly causing his dilemma for his future films to explore him always having to choose between Earth and Asgard.

True, but I'm pretty sure THOR II is going to be set almost entirely in the Asgardian realms.

True; though it'd be such a interesting twist/ending if Thor 2 ended with Thor saying that he's needed more on Earth than on Asgard and thus leaves Asgard on his own film (a stark contrast from Thor 1).

That would be awesome, that would fit perfectly with Thor's comicbook personality by showing his strong connection with earth and his need to protect it.

It would also provide us a chance to see how Thor stands up to human weaponry and they could also give him some heroic feats of super strength.

Speaking of which, I really hope that we get to see him tackle some of his earth based villains, let alone regular day Earth villains since I'd like to see the "HOLY SH#T" look on their faces when they first encounter Thor during one of their crime scenes, not knowing who or what he is, and thinking that they can take him down easily because unlike Iron Man or Hulk, he doesn't look like he'd be able to take much..then BAM..he ends up owning them all easily.

I definately would like for the Wrecking Crew or Radiation Man to appear as henchmen for the main villain, I also want to see Thor do heroic things like stop a runaway bus or prevent some criminals from robbery a train.

Eh, none of that sounds particularly appealing. What's the point of having a character like Thor get his own movies if they're no different from your run-of-the-mill superhero film? Basing a movie series on a god is a great chance to play up on those mythological elements by setting a lot of the action on the various Nine Worlds. Having Thor, the God of Thunder stopping bank robberies and such pretty much sucks out everything that differentiates him from every other superhero out there.

I could not agree more with this. With Thor's solo films, I want to see him in Asgard and the other realms fighting fantastic fantasy monsters. That'll separate Thor from the usual suspects.

If you know anything about Thor you would know that he tends to spend most of his time as an earth hero, besides I already said THOR II will be set primarily within the Asgardian realms.

So an entire film set in the Asgardians realms isn't enough for you?

I don't think they would be shocked by Thor. The events of the Avengers may end up making him famous. I don't believe any one will be shocked when they run into Thor. at lease I think.

Agreed.

Plus, if Thor's still on Earth that means his Avengers compatriots are close by and the GA would wonder why they're not joining him in a battle against whichever baddie he would be up against. I'm not buying the idea that you can just say they're all off fighting their own battles because typically these heroes are fighting "planet saving" ones and you need all hands on deck for those. It will be interesting to see how they explain the whereabouts of the others when IM gets his new film.

Regardless there's so much more potential in the other realms for Thor movies.

Well I guess we're faced with a classic case of "different strokes, for different folks".

I know plenty about Thor and, you know what? His non-Earth adventures, in my opinion, tended to be the best. Thor was always at his best when he was either in the Nine Worlds or dealing with threats from there. Hell, some of my favorite comic stories are non-Thor related while still dealing in the Nine Worlds. X-Men: Asgardian Wars comes to mind. :D

besides I already said THOR II will be set primarily within the Asgardian realms.

So an entire film set in the Asgardians realms isn't enough for you?

It suits me just fine, thank you.

Midgard!!!:argh:

An entire film set in the other 8 realms really isn't enough for just one film. There are so many characters and worlds that can be elaborated on in his own sequels. I'm sure we'll see enough of Thor being on Earth in The Avengers and its sequels.

When i watch Thor every time he gets casted out of Asgard and hits Jane Foster's van I always skip to the Destroyers scene. I can't stand how dull Migdard portions were. (Yes i do know that that's what they were going for)

This what i think will happen. Most of the film will be set in the 8 other realms but the threat will always make its way back to Midgard. We my get a movie where 75% will bet set else where but 25% will end up being set in Midgard.

I didn't find the earthbound portions of Thor terribly dull, though they could have done with 75% less Darcy. The story of Thor's redemption would have made much more sense had the writers shown him working towards it for weeks instead of a couple of days. It was too quick and easy to be totally believable. Hemsworth and Portman have tons of chemistry, but it's hard to buy into Thor and Jane's pining for each other after so short an acquaintance.

But those are mere nitpicks. Thor was a very good and entertaining movie that I've watched many times. I'm looking forward to Thor 2, wherever the main action takes place.

"Maybe you should put some shorts on if you want to continue fighting evil today."

I, for one, find Thor perfectly dressed for his job in that painting. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing Chris Hemsworth reenact the scene in The Avengers. :word:

I see alot of people on this thread want to see more Thor films set completely within the Asgardian realms, well over in the Thor threads people are singing a different tune.
