So different people have differing viewpoints? I am both shocked and appalled.

I see alot of people on this thread want to see more Thor films set completely within the Asgardian realms, well over in the Thor threads people are singing a different tune.

What any of us want doesn't really matter, what matters is that is works for the general audience. From the performance of Thor comics over the years I'm cautious. Thor goes in circles. It starts small with Thor as Donald with Jane in the surgery fighting Loki, the Absorbing man and Cobra with the odd epic. Then Jane is written out, Donald is marginalised and the stories get bigger. There comes a point when the only way to go is smaller or stagnate. Thor comics stagnated for years and the readership bled. So Conway an Wein brought back Jane and got smaller and more intimate, we got adventures with the Firelord in the jungle, the troll king, and Servitor. Again, Jane was written out and Thor comics were isolated in Asgard until Simonson came along. He did tend towards Asgard and got rid of Donald entirely. When he left Thor again stagnated until Jurgens gave him a new host and plopped him in a hospital again. About halfway through his run, the Jake Olsen identity was abandoned, Jane disappeared from the stories and we started into Spiral and The Reigning which is about Thor losing humanity, humility and perspective and imposing Asgard on Midgard. Its meta about Thor losing his way and doing everything wrong. Its big blowout of that era was Ragnarok. Then came JMS and again, Donald is back and Jane is around again. Asgard is dropped on Earth to try and create balance. Now we have Fraction who basically does nothing with Midgard.

Going big and taking away all the roots Thor has never seemed like a good idea. Its all about balance and Marvel still hasn't worked that out I don't think. They have to match the huge spectacle with the small character moments and they can't seem to do both. I don't think the spectacle itself is going to fly at all. But all that said, the Thor movie did improve on recent Thor comics but mainly because Branagh insisted on using the original Journey into Mystery character dynamics.

All of your models are looking really good and pretty damned accurate! Are you using google sketch up?
Yup, tho do to a poor Graphix card on my laptop there's just so detailed I can get before the puter freezes up. I really hope I get enough back from taxes to get at least a better laptop

was just thinking of something the other night about the ULTIMATE Thor/Hulk fight where Hulk lifts Mjolnir.....the First hammer we see ULTY Thor have in ULTIMATES isn't really even Mjolnir according to the Ultimate Thor mini. :D

Tho in one way if you go by the ORIGINAL Hulk origin where Banner runs out and sacrifices himself to save Rick that act should make that BANNER worthy to lift Mjolnir yet would it make HULK worthy lol THAT would be a kick butt story to read lol

I'm still thinking that this is the scene where Thor first returns back to Earth in the film; well either that, or when Thor first approaches the forest that ends with him confronting both Iron Man and Captain America.

i wonder how they'll explain his different costumes too.

just cos he feels like it? i dunno

Well...if I had to take a guess, I would say that his sleeveless look with the cape; is a result of him perhaps having been on a quest of his own prior towards the events of the film...like maybe having learned of Loki's survival and trying to figure out where he is.

Then the one that he wears on the hellcarrier..I'd think that it's just him resting/being casual since he's not fighting anyone.

The one with the chainmail arms is probably him prepping himself for a full scale battle.

I' guess it's when he arrives at earth. The scenes in the forest seems to be at night.

I think the sleevless costume is his casual wear, the chainmail is for battles. BTW at the pic postet by herolee is the cape missing?

yeah Marion, the Cape's not there. remember the first Avengers stuff attached to Captain America? Thor was capeless THERE too.

That does look like a pretty good "thor-just-arrived-on-earth" shot
But I'd prefer to see him arrive with cape

What if Thor was zapped from Asgard by Loki and arrived without cape, mail or Mjolnir. How cool would it look to see him look up at the sky then summon Mjolnir all the way down to earth?

That would be absolutely amazing. :woot:

Pretty sure he's got his cape in that daytime shot, too. Look closer at his shoulders; even though it's blackened in silhouette, you can see the telltale puffs on his shoulders. The cape is just flattened against his back.

He has those puffs even when he's not wearing his cape

he doesn't wear his cape in the "flipping table" scene in Thor either. so it's safe to assume that he only puts it on when he's about to kick some ***. Same with the chainmail too, but they probably didn't go sleeveless in his solo film because they were establishing an iconic look for Thor and felt it deviated too much.
