I know it's not happening. I know that there's no romance at all in this movie; and hell, there's almost no women, period. And that's to the movie's detriment, as I've said many times before. The inability of Avengers to cross-reference its prequel movies --- and here, I'm not limiting this to *just* the romantic subplots established in those, but in all the other subplots as well --- is going to create big holes in the continuities of Thor 2, Iron Man 3, and any theoretical sequels to Cap and Hulk's films.
Only according to you .....
The movie's pre-screening have put the film around 2.5 hours long and that's before the final edit. They have to setup the threat, catch people up with the films characters, develop the motley crew aspect of their team ..... and then save the world. There's no time for anything else and trying to cram in romance would come across shallow. Not to mention if all the heroes have damsels in distress in this film, it would be overkill and redundant. It would also be unfair to simply focus on only a couple of them so Whedon did did the smart thing by opting for none.
