The Avengers "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be Hemsworthy, shall possess the power of Thor" - Part 4

Anyone feel like the Destroyer gun was a bit unrealistic? No way would I expect even the smartest Marvel guys to reverse engineer a machine created by gods. They basically relegated asgard to an alien planet filled with humanoid aliens with just that one weapon

In my opinion that was pretty lame, I literally let out a "sigh" when I first heard about it.

Yeah. kind of a let-down. Like I said, can't win em all. Still. Avengers 9.5 outta 10 for me and thor was a 10/10 for his showing.

Didn't like it either. Anyway, from the effect it had on Loki, I don't think the engineered it right. ;)

I kinda wished Thor had called Hulk 'The mightest Mortal on Earth' during their fight, or made some reference to finally fighting someone on Earth worthy....

Well, Hydra developed weapons powered by the Cube in CA:FA. Is it hard to think that SHIELD, with all their resources could mimic the energy used by Destroyer?

I think the Destroyer gun is kind of important for making Coulson stand out and giving you a legitimate chance of thinking he might survive. I do agree that how we get there is a little iffy, but the purpose is important yanno?

Well imho, it's one thing to channel energy from a cube that's always giving off energy into weapons, but another thing to channel energy from something like the Destroyer that was essentially defeated when it encountered Thor and as far as I could tell, it needed to be specially summoned by the ruler of Asgard in order to activate to do anything; it wasn't giving off random energy when not in use.

Hmm, never thought if that way, but a good point. I personally didn't have a problem with the Destroyer Gun Coulson used. Maybe he should've had something like a more advanced Hydra weapon?

OMG THE LOKI FANGIRLS! :cmad:

THIS ISN'T TWILIGHT. YOU KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE SEEN "TEAM LOKI" i LOVE LOKI!! "OH OH I WANT TEAM LOKI" "I WANT THEM TO HUG AND MAKE UP"

SHUT UP SHUT UP. HOLY CHRIST. READ A COMIC BOOK. THERE IS NOTHING ADORABLE ABOUT LOKI. IM READY TO CRACK SOMENECKS

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Lets not drive off the handful of females who post here please. thanks.

Given enough time, Reed Richards could probably get it done. Anyway, I know why this should bother me, but it doesnt.

I mean the extreme fangirls, the ones who treat him like a twilight character....here? :X

You can dislike it all you want....at home.

On here, if I see anyone attacking someone just because they think differently about something.....I tell them not to that. People are allowed to have opinions and like and dislike things differently than you without having to be called names and derided.

Please post more civil in the future.

Yeah, I get why it bothers people but for me it's just too cool to be bothered by. It's a freakin' Destroyer Gun! Fired by Coulson! :woot:

The Destroyer gun was kind of silly. I was pretty sure The Destroyer was powered by magic.

And not powered, because it was dead.

Would have much preferred to see Coulson wielding a gun powered by the tesseract. You know, like the one Captain America spent like five minutes finding in an unlocked trunk. Would have made for a better conflict after Phil's death, and a more divided team/Fury.

Since the asgardians in this universe arent really magical, just have really advanced science, making a gun from the destroyer technology isnt so far fetched. Chill guys

No, it's...still magic. It's just what Thor considers a type of science.

It's incredibly far-fetched that the Earth scientists could take that destroyer armor and engineer a weapon from the magic in it that no longer exists because it, you know, died.

asgardian magic is just super technology that is too advanced to be explained by current science.

mjolnir for instance links with the mind of the person touching it and determins the persons worth, it the hammer deems the person is worthy it 'unlocks' all of it's abilties, if it deems the person isn't worthy it places a form of hypnotism on the person which tells their brain they are unable to lift the hammer from the floor. also the hammer 'bonds' to what ever surface it is resting on meaning it can't be pulled with force (i.e. a car).

lol did any one see the Bill Marher crack at The Avengers during New Rules. He said something like "If Thor is a God why do they need any one else. Then he proceeded to take a dump on Hawkeye and Black Widow"

Doesn't really make a difference to me. The Destroyer's energy blasts were probably something that could be duplicated on a technological scale. I'm more disappointed that The Destroyer wasn't equal to its comic book counter part.

There's a part of me thing thinks that he was Just as strong but Marvel didn't want to sink a lot of money into the creation of an action spectacle between Thor and The Destroyer. So we ended up getting a Tornado, two energy blocks with Mjolnir, and a one hit knock out.

Besides, cramming it's own energy down it's throat with the indestructible Mjolnir seemed like a good and plausible way to take it out. That's probably why they changed it's method of emitting the blast. Normally it fires out of the thing on it's forehead. The way it fired in the movie left it with a weakness of some sort.

Everyone in the GA seems to think Thor was too serious, what do you guys think?

Thor had his moments of humor like everybody else. I don't see it. Especially since he had the most to be serious about with his brother's involvement and all. He thought the guy was dead.

Considering I was a Spider-man/X-Men comic fan it didn't bother me all that much. Secondarily I've always had this interest in the Area 51 type conspiracy theories and I didn't find it inconceivable to reverse engineer the Destroyer in like 3 or 4 years time.

Really. Thor was serious in Asgard but when he got to earth they added a lot of cheese. The incredible Hulk was too serious.
