i can imagine loki using the cosmic cube to bring thor to earth so he is stuck in the midle of Lokis plot and cant return to asgard. and in the end he is stuck on earth or uses the cosmic cube to return .

Yes that would be cool.

I wouldn't mind if Thor can't open dimensional portals with Mjolnir. It just gives him a little too much power and is an easy out for him to defeat villains. Thanos is too hard for the Avengers to take down? No prob. Thor can just create a portal and suck him through. Of course, it might take a while for Thor to open a portal. Or drain him of all his power.

i wonder if Thor will express any guilt in this film given his connection with Loki and how Loki's actions with the cosmic cube are at the center of the Avengers and Earth's problems.

Ash Talon: since Thor in the comics has that ability, then what's the explanation used in the comics for why he doesn't use it more often to defeat foes?

I'm just not that familiar with all of the possible Thor comics stories, so all that comes to mind at the moment is that we kind of see him fighting a lot and NOT using that to tactical advantage (to remove foes from the fight, or send them somewhere that defeats them).

Is it a case that he has that in his arsenal in the comics, and it just sort of isn't discussed why he doesn't use it in that way? If so, the movies might handle it the same way. Or, as you say -- perhaps there is a cost to using it, or some other reason he can't deploy it to his advantage.

I'll be shocked if we don't get some key bits dealing with the relationship between Thor and Loki, although I'm not sure I would expect guilt from Thor, as such. What does he have to be guilty over? He wasn't responsible for hiding Loki's parentage from him. He has no reason to be guilty over stopping Loki from destroying Jotunheim. Loki letting go of Gungnir and falling was Loki's own decision.

I guess I could imagine Thor expressing regret that his destroying the Bifrost allowed Loki to run amok on Earth for a while before anyone from Asgard is able to go and deal with him. But again, I don't see guilt factoring into it. It's not like he knew that that action would result in Loki being sent to Earth. As the movie ends, he thinks Loki has died, not that he's wound up in some other realm where he can cause mischief.

What I kind of expect to see in The Avengers is Thor being unwilling to regard Loki as his enemy, even if that's Loki's feeling towards Thor and Asgard. I'll be surprised if Thor doesn't still regard Loki as his brother, whether he has been told the truth of Loki's parentage between movies or not. And thus, I would expect to see Thor feel that dealing with Loki, and stopping whatever trouble he's causing, is Thor's responsibility. But not because of guilt, per se.

Sadly yes, but now that Thor has been established, it shouldn't be too hard to continue.

Branagh toying with Thor sequel

Kenneth Branagh is toying with the idea of a Thor sequel

Kenneth Branagh has revealed he finds the idea of a Thor sequel "tantalising and fascinating".

With the superhero film thundering to the top of the US box office, talk has turned to the potential of a follow-up, which Kenneth has said isn't out of the question.

"We went through so many possibilities for how the story might go, that of course the prospect of that is very tantalising and fascinating," he told MTV News.

"I loved working with this group of actors and had a fantastic experience working with everyone in the Marvel family," he added.

Australian actor Chris Hemsworth stars as the god of thunder in the 3D action adventure, alongside Sir Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and Stellan Skargard.

Kenneth claimed the decision for a sequel wouldn't be up to him.

"You know as well as I do, there's a passionate fanbase out there that will say what they think. People will vote with their feet," continued the director.

"And because it's such a big chunk of change for everybody involved, I think that's going to have a crucial, crucial impact but it would be a lovely challenge and problem to have, should we do a second one."

Makes me wonder what the hell happened?:csad:

All I've heard is Ken has another film to do. I'm sure if Marvel gave him enough money he'd drop the other film, what ever it is, but I don't see that happening.

My guess is the discussion just went-
Marvel: Up for round 2?
KB: Totally!
Marvel: We want it released in 2013.
KB: Well damn, I'm working on something else now. Perhaps if I got more incentive...
Marvel: Sorry, we can't offer much more money.
KB: Ah well **** it I guess. I can offer help where you need it though!
Marvel: k cool, we're gonna look for a director now.

I doubt there was any tension or creative breakdowns between them.

Personally if that is the case then I think they ought to let him do his other film and then bring him back.

Me too. I loved Thor, but with him in Avengers I honestly don't need him again so super soon. I'd like to see a new property in its place, as they've been talking about launching them after Avengers for a long time at this point. I know some have issue with his action, but with more experience now and a good second unit director there could be more killer scenes like the Frost Giant battle.

Hell yeahhhhh :woot:

Assuming that Thor arrives a bit later in the film, I wouldn't be surprised if his return scene to Earth is very similar to how Odin first appeared on Earth to battle the Frost Giants as it was presented in Thor, with Thor arriving in the same manner which ends in him helping to save the day for that particular moment.

In a way, I would figure that with Thor being on the team, he's more like the insurance plan (from Fury's and potentially everyone else's POV) in dealing with the Hulk should the Hulk go on a rampage since Thor is the only one capable of going toe to toe with him.

Oh hell yes

That would be great!

I could see Hulk getting pissed in a fight and wailing on the team, then Thor just blasts down to save the day for a kickass Thor/Hulk battle.

I would love to see that, but I'd be suprised if it actually happens like this in the film.
