I'm one that always liked Coipel's Thor. He kind of looks like he's part Elvish. I mean he really LOOKS like he's another race.

Yeah. Sorry, but while I like Coipel as an artist overall, I dislike the way he does a lot of faces, and I particularly dislike his face for Thor. Just a personal thing, but it bugs me.

He looks like a caveman sometimes and the whole feral rage reinforces it. It also makes no sense that the women of the MU would find him attractive like they do if he appears to have taken a few hammers to the nose.

For me, I think it's that Coipel overall has a tendency to draw human faces with the eyes set JUST a bit too far apart for my taste. (Also... a little too small; and the way he does eyes may in fact be entirely realistic in terms of proportion, but in the comics medium, they come across to me as too small, which gives characters a mean look. By which I don't mean a "badass" look, but something off-putting to me.)

And for Thor, he's given him a particularly broad, square face. The combination, along with the kind of flat profile that 04nbod mentions, is what puts me off. "Caveman" isn't quite the way I'd describe it, but I'm having no luck coming up with a better term.

Not saying Coipel is a bad artist! Far from it. I think he's a very accomplished artist. And I get it that what he's done, esp. with Thor's design, is great for a lot of folks. I've just been finding that I like the modern Thor design drawn by almost everybody else BUT Coipel.

He's done some character design I like better than his Thor. Even in the Thor title... I kind of like some of his character designs better than others. I don't hate his Warriors Three, for example. (And I think he's great at costume design.)

Yo Thor looked incredible! I'm so hype after watching that teaser in HD, there was another shot of Loki that was hardly visible in the bootleg. Anybody catch what was happening there?

I'm really kind of hoping for this as well; in addition to a nice Thor vs Hulk fight.

The thing is, I know they have to be careful. I don't expect them to establish any one of the heroes as SO CLEARLY superior in power to the others. I think they will want to keep a sort of balance. (Or at least I hope they do.)

But... I really get the impression from the comics that Thor and Hulk should be regarded by their teammates as the significantly Big Guns of the group. Both Stark and Cap seem (in the comics I mean) to have developed this attitude where... it's not like they are modest about their OWN abilities, (Tony especially), but they regard Thor as the bigger threat to any enemies they're facing. Like, okay, there's the beat-down Iron Man can give you... and then there's "ohhhh, now you're in BIG TROUBLE" when Thor gets into the mix.

Which is great. (And which I also expect to apply to the Hulk, too.)

So what I really want to see in this movie is how Stark and Cap develop that kind of view of their teammates. Which, in Stark's case, I can imagine coming from tangling with both Thor and Hulk and realizing how much they outclass him, then turning around and being very happy to unleash that on anyone the team is fighting.

(And needless to say... I want to see a Thor vs Hulk fight in which they are at least equal. I don't want to see Hulk positioned as outclassing everyone else on the team.)
