Why Can't DC Get it right? - Part 1

the first link was about a sequel being fast tracked...it was reported the Monday before MOS came out. We didnt find out until Comic con that Batman would be in it.

What exactly does that tell you?

they liked what the actual tracking saw and not the stupid remarks of a disgruntled employee and got moving on their universe enlarging movies.

However I am sure you probably see it as WB thought they were going to make 1Bil and when the didn't they decided to throw Batman in there because Batman is their crutch.

You are so naive.

It's not naivety. I live and work in Hollywood. I know how the game is played here. I know how to read a "media releases" and interpret what is actually being said and what's not. Most recently I have pitched scripts and takes to WB. I know their frame of mind first hand.

Perhaps the game has changed.

Roach I don't know if you really believe what you are posting or just trolling for the heck of it. A blind man can see WB(not DC)doesn't know what to do with their properties. Batman is their weapon of choice and as much as I'm looking forward to BVS, MOS should have had sequel to build on his story.

PS- what year in I Am Legend did it say BVS would come out? :ninja:

No troll. I am nothing special. Just someone trying to make it. I agree that WB doesn't seem to know what they are doing but the Batman/Superman movie IMO is a logical move.
WB is being more cautious with their universe than Marvel. They aren't about to announce 3-4 DC movies. They are doing them one at a time.
I think this movie will be a sequel....just with Batman in it. Just like IM2 had War Machine. In fact I think Batman vs Superman will be just like IM2 with Superman being Iron Man and Batman being WM. They fought and then teamed up and fought the bad guy.

I'd love for it to happen but I just don't see it. Batman is their money maker and I can't see him taking a seat to Supes. And I'm not sure this is WB being cautious with DC. They simply have no visions or plans. People use the quality over quantity argument but other than Nolan's Batman, what have they done? You'd think they were trying to turn water into wine the way they associate all the DC characters.

I am not saying it's a quality over quantity argument...It's a cautious thing. If BvsS flops that will be it for the DCCU. WB has several failures to their name and it has made them gun-shy.

If I was in the WB, I'd throw a ton of money at AVI Arad and I know a lot of people hate that name but he's the one who got the ball rolling for Marvel. They need someone with a vision to get it going.

As I wrote in another thread: if Warner Brothers held the rights to James Bond, we would only have gotten to You Only Live Twice, by now.
Quite humorous if one thinks about it.

What the.....War Machine is part of Iron Man's supporting cast. Just like Dick Grayson or Tim Drake for Batman. Batman is his own comic book icon. A giant in the industry. He is in no shape or form analogous to fricking War Machine.

I wasn't saying that Batman was going to be Superman's sidekick...just that I believe the structure of IM2 will be used in this movie...IM and WM fight and then team up to fight the villain.

Does that mean Superman will be drunk and rocking out to Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" when he fights Batman? ;)

Yes because Kevin Hart will try to make Kryptonite and he puts tar in it just like in Superman 3.

This. I was bummed with the announcement. I could be wrong, but first off, don't everyone jump on me for being a Marvel fan, I am trying to put bias aside. I sort of feel as if the whole superman batman movie is sort of, hmm, not sure how to put it. An attempt to compete? I mean, didn't someone who works for WB a year or so ago, criticize the idea of a Justice League movie? I feel that WB/DC shouldn't focus so much on, quote, unquote "keeping up", that's why I think they struggle. Putting the two best characters in a movie doesn't seem like the best decision, it's almost like a side step. I think that it would have been better to just let them focus on their own stuff, and not worry about what Marvel is doing. They don't need to rush to keep up with what marvel is doing, because they will fail because it's what Marvel is doing. They don't need to compete with the style of Marvel to be great. Take your time, don't worry aabout what Marvel is doing, just do your thing. Cross the bridge of a justice league movie, and introducing other characters when we get to that bridge. They made great batman movies in the Nolan Trilogy. I thought Man of Steel was a blast.

I would have been thrilled with a MOS sequel, build up a story as someone else has said. But with Batman and Superman in one movie, I just don't feel ready for that. It seems too obvious of a choice, and I don't see it helping DC too much. I think they should simply have had a MOS sequel, and start working on other DC characters. Good characters, without trying to bring them together. DC is Batman and Superman, but that's not all it is.

I agree.

Iron Man 1 was great, everything else....was okay, till Avengers.

Avengers cast such a positive halo effect on the MCU.

There's a reason for this. Avengers was the payout, the final proof that yes, their idea of the MCU works.

When you are basing your film an iconic Batman story, one where he gets put over Superman?

if you watch the video Snyder says over and over that this story is not the basis of the movie...just the most iconic story they could use to tease this movie.

If Batman is a Harvey Dent character in this movie, then I can buy it as a MoS 2. But he won't be. It's a versus movie. Batman will be there throughout the film. If it was just a third act thing, then I can buy it. It's still gimmicky though, because there is no build up unless Bruce Wayne is there throughout the movie and gets the proper development. Batman will have to get equal time in this for the payoff to work. Unless they rework the script such such that it's no longer a versus movie. Still hoping that Batman is removed and that only Bruce Wayne is established, possibly with Batman appearing in the last 15-20 minutes or so. That's all you need IMO. I'd like the versus aspect to be Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne, and not for Lois' attention. I want to see two geniuses going at it: the alien vs the man.
