Brock should look bigger than normal. Topher doesn't.

Norman Osborn is supposed to look bigger than normal as well, yet I've never seen someone complain about Willem Dafoe's (kinda narrow) physique.

It's just that Topher is a little too skinny... I thought the guy had been bulking up... I'm not one to complain about this sh:t though... Dafoe looked good but I don't think GG was ever supposed to be Supes or anyone of such an imposing appearance... I think the CGI will make Venom look fine however...

Go and see the new picturse of Topher Grace - he looks eeeeeeevil. In the good way. Very impressive. His size doesn't even come into question in those pictures - just the expressions on his face.

who even cares, i personally never wanted to see Venom in the movies anyway. Venom has always been the worst of all spidermans villians imo, or sometimes hes an anti-hero and sometimes hes a villian, what a 90s joke he was. hes character im sure Stan lee or steve ditko would of never created [or want to create].

No one complains about Dafoe's physique because he was a credible Norman Osborn. He was intimidating; he was sometimes downright frightening. Dafoe has a long history of playing disturbed crazy-people [anyone who remembers Lynch's "Wild at Heart" can certainly attest to his ability to portray crazies that you remember loooong after you have forgotten the rest of the film.]

I want someone to explain to me how *Gopher* is intimidating.

Making wolverine a bigger tougher looking guy is actually in an improvement in some ways since it suits his tough clint eastwood/james dean personality...

bigger tougher looking guy? he looks exactly the same except he's a little taller, and they didn't do that on purpose. In fact in a rescent interview they intentionally try to make him look shorter with camera angles and stuff. Wehn training him to fight they even did it in a way to help him make himself look shorter.

But Hugh Jackman is very good as Wolverine. I think the most accurate castings of the comic world right now have to be Molina as Ock, Jackman as wolverine, Patrick Stewart as X-avier (accurate doesn't even begin to describe it). I'm not saying there aren't other good ones. I'm just saying those three are the best. X-avier though takes the cake as the perfect actor for the perfect part. It's almost like Professor Xavier was based on Stewart or something. Personality, appearance. It's identical.

I'm a star trek buff. sorry. big captain pricard/patrick stewart fan. I just love his style, voice, and overall acting.

I think you have a misconception of intimidating. especially judging from your description of Marilyn Mansen. That guy couldn't intimidate me if his life depended on it. That's like being intimidated by Michael Jackson. Come on. My little sister could beat either one of them up.

I'm assuming you don't really know how the real world works. Intimidation isn't about size. It isn't. We know Topher from that 70's show. He wasn't written as an intimidating character. To say he can't pull it off because he was so skinny? Well I have seen some scrawny brawlers put a major whooping on some big guys, and I'll tell you they can intimidate. It's about persona not physique. Especially in a movie. Any guy with a symbiote, long tongue, and crazy teeth would intimidate the hell out of me.
Magneto? scrawny old man. Intimidating as hell. Mystique? sexy curves, huge ****. still intimidating. The Joker? Intimidating as hell with no muscle!
Acting and script are all that matter. You have not seen him try to act this part, and you have not seen the script.

You've made your point - you think Topher is a ridiculous choice. So what do you think - was Raimi hungover when Topher Grace was cast? Did he lose a bet?

Topher Grace was cast for a reason. The folks at Sony aren't idiots.

Hell that's way more intimidating than Marilyn Mansen will ever be. Just because he isn't disgusting doesn't mean he isn't more intimidating. And it really doesn't look much different at all from how Brock originally looked.

well you did say you liked it. I feel the same way though. I figured we were getting some kind of Ultimate Brock with Topher. I never thought in a million years he would look like Brock. He does though. I'm really surprised.
