I feel like Vince's daddy is rolling in his grave right now. Even Haitch was watching it and got just as pissed as Austin did. Saying that is unforgivable, even if it is your company. That's a slap to the face to the entire industry to say that your flagship title "doesn't matter."

I bet Trio face palmed with a sledge hammer!

He's also Captain America/Superman and not Batman/Wolverine, which is how Vince still sees things as regards the "leading man" mentality. Cena has worked hard for sure and his ring work and charisma is due it's credit, but he has also had the benefit of an unstoppable push that ignored fans reactions for a long time because Vince wasn't going to be told "No" now that he'd defeated WCW and no longer needed to care what the fans wanted.

That fact that he sat opposite Austin and said "The WWE title doesn't matter" when he KNOWS how Austin feels and how Austin literally broke his neck to become the top guy and believes that status that is represented by the title, shows just how out of touch Vince is with humanity, not just pop culture.

Agreed. Vince thinks his way is the only way.

Wait, Vince actually said that about the lineage of his company's championships? Well, that explains the past 6 years.

As a booker of pro wrestling myself, I'm ****ing offended by Vince's comments about championships. I expect this kinda **** from Vince RUSSO, not MCMAHON.

I'm tempted by NJPW world, but not financially or technologically practical for me right now.

If they update an English version on Roku by the time my network subscription expires, maybe.

I'm really surprised they're not going scorched earth policy on that bluray.. I mean.. Punk is in it.

Somewhere Flair is doing phantom elbow drops to imaginary Vince right now.

Wait.. people all over Twitter are PRAISING this interview?

Not gonna lie, I'm gonna applaud Austin for trying to not ******** around and ask the tough questions. You can see him visibly get annoyed by Vince's responses (that reason for firing Jim Ross was such ********).

Austin had that face many times where he's about to flip a middle finger and hit a stunner..and hit Vince in the head with a laptop

As noted, “A New Day” with Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston made their WWE TV debut on SmackDown last Friday, picking up a win over Heath Slater, Titus O’Neil and Curtis Axel. Their first match was originally planned for this coming Monday’s RAW but there still plans for their big RAW debut.

The current idea is that the group will be working as “over the top babyfaces” before making a big heel turn.

No word yet on officials’ reaction to their debut but it was noted by a source that Kofi, Woods and Big E seem to really be enjoying themselves.

We’ve noted how there was talk of having #1 contender John Cena get his title shot against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at this month’s TLC pay-per-view.

Vince McMahon continues to go back and forth on the match happening at TLC. There are just two RAW episodes left until TLC and with no mention of the title or Cena being #1 contender on RAW this past week, there’s a feeling that the match won’t take place at TLC.

Original plans had Cena getting the title shot at the Royal Rumble, which could be the direction they’re going in. As noted, there has also been talk of having Cena face Seth Rollins and Randy Orton at TLC but we should have a better idea of TLC plans after this week’s RAW.

It was reported earlier this year that WWE would eventually do the Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns singles feud but word coming out this past week was that the match may happen at the 2015 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

This is interesting because there have been plans in place for Rollins to feud with a returning Randy Orton and there have been plans in place for Reigns to have a huge run in the 30-man Rumble main event, leading to his title shot at WrestleMania 31.

There was no word yet on how Reigns vs. Rollins at the Rumble may change the other plans but we’ll keep you updated. The Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose feud didn’t last as long as originally expected, so it’s possible they do the same with the Rollins vs. Reigns feud.

That's basically saying we can put titles on inferior talent and do nothing with them because the show is scripted. You only need good champions and title matches in a real sport. We're entertainment, so nothing has to matter. I mean who needs a prestigious championship and and main event spot to feud over. Lets do a feud about who has the biggest butt. I mean butt songs are all the rage right now. Book it.

can't believe people are praising the interview
to say the title doesn't matter is vince pretty much spitting in the face of every fan (Past or present) and every professional wrestler (Past or Present)

i think like many i'm almost done with wwe

I'd be completely done but at least NXT is awesome and I can't cancel my wwe network subscription until March and so might as well keep using it for NXT and certain other content that I enjoy until it expires

Seeing how positively people are talking about the podcast on Twitter is making my stomach turn.

I feel physically ill knowing how pleased with himself Vince must be.

"Trending Worldwide".

The people on tweets are mostly just casuals

Kids these days like to eat up everything Vince says because of how much his "genius" has been overhyped for the longest time.

The look in Steve's eyes when Vince said that about the title was priceless.

That's one of the instances where I believe Vince just said something to cover his own shortsightedness. It was obviously Vince's call to put the belt on Lesnar, despite the fact that he is only contracted for a certain amount of appearances. The backlash against that decision is getting louder, as people are becoming more and more frustrated with not having a champion on tv, at the pay per views or at the house shows. Vince isn't at a point where he can say "yeah, putting the title on a part timer was a mistake"...particularly not in the middle of said part timer's reign. So, he simply said "the title doesn't matter" to cover his error in judgment as Austin tried to call him on it. It was a stupid thing to say, as it was insulting to his entire industry, particularly every worker who has held any iteration of that championship, busting their humps in the process to make it mean something. It was also insulting to all of us as consumers...why should we invest in your product if you're presenting matches for a world championship that "doesn't matter?" But, that's what happens when you do a (seemingly) live broadcast...sometimes you say something absurd in the moment without having time to consider your words.

Obviously, the championship matters. Yes, it's a worked sport, but the belts are more than the props that people like Russo claim they are. If the title "doesn't matter," then I wonder how Vince would react if Lesnar decided to go into business for himself at Wrestlemania. If Brock decided he didn't want to job for Reigns or Cena or whoever on his way out the door, started shooting, and walked out of Levi's Stadium with the WWE World championship belt, I can guarantee we'd see how much that title "mattered" to Vince.

Vince basically confirmed that he ain't retiring or stepping down, probably not until he dies. There goes my dream of Vince coming out on Raw to say a real life retirement speech and Trips&Steph complete take over with a complete product reboot within a short time

Vince McMahon sees himself as immortal and, as Malcolm Tucker once said, "un****able" so he's not going to give up his position until at least another 18 years.

Vince said the title doesn't matter, live on WWE Network. Yet he still needs it so characters have something important to fight over and maintain the the premise of a show about athletic competition. Take away the wrestling elements of your show, and you've got nothing, Vince . You can't hang with anyone without wrestling. Do a non-wrestling drama series with some of your writers. I dare you. It will disappoint just like everything else you've done outside wrestling.

I really hope Austin talks about this podcast in his next episode and goes off on what he disagreed with. He's the type that would go ape **** on his show about this kind of comments even if by Vince McMahon jr
