Wonder Woman in Batman V. Superman Thread

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman. How was her in your opinion?

  • Magnificent and we haven't seen much of her

  • Good, but I need to see more of her in her solo

  • I didn't like her.

You know, now that I think about it, just because those symbols showed up in Lex's files doesn't necessarily mean that he's the one who came up with their names.

Think about it for a Wonder Woman... we're getting a Wonder Woman movie that takes place in WWI. For all we know, she gets the hero name Wonder Woman then, and Lex simply hears about it. A similar explanation could be brought up for the other metahumans, as well, depending on when their solos (if they have them) are set...

You have a point- will they use the name "Wonder Woman" for her solo movie/in the past?

Though Snyder did say something about Lex's files being the reason he comes up with the names in this Empire podcast (around the 13:12 mark):

Maybe there's a writing on the back of the photo. "Diana, my wonder woman. <3 <3 <3"

I certainly hope so. I could see it being a bit of a loving snide remark (not meant to be mean, but just sort of a good-natured ribbing), maybe from Steve Trevor, that sticks. Or maybe it's what people in WWI call a mysterious "angel" who does miraculous feats and saves people as a hero.

In WWI, while communication was pretty good, it wasn't like we have today. Wonder Woman could potentially be a rumor... a myth. Her hero name could very well be what people name that myth, and Lex stumbles onto it in his research decades later.

Or maybe I'm reaching because, to be completely honest, I'm not really into the idea of Lex Luthor naming any of the heroes... but that's just me...

Heroes'
Code:
names often don't come from the heroes themselves. Captain America is an invented concept. The Green Lanterns are galactic officers.

"[I]The[/I] Superman" (with article) is another example. [I]The[/I] Aquaman, [I]The[/I] Cyborg, [I]The[/I] Flash, etc. The articles get dropped.

How was Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman in BvS for you?

I shan't waste my efforts in laying praise on Wonder Gal in the cesspool of the BvS forum, so I shall state here that I thought she was fabulous. I really had no expectations one way or another for her performance, but I thought she married femininity and ferocity just perfectly, and I really cannot wait to see more of her.

And let it be said, Snyder got the amount of exploitative upskirt right in the sweet spot between perviness and prudishness.

Literally any doubt that ive had with her over the years, got obliterated when i watched BvS, she was amazing in it.

Simple cannot wait for the Wonder Woman film.

Magnificent, but I'm yet to see if she can carry the whole movie. I'm staying optimistic.

I really liked her, but I do feel like I need to see more.

Yeah, great moment. But I still liked her exchange with Bruce in the Alexander's sword scene. That's where I was convinced she can do the job. How well - we will see.

I hope Snyder pays attention to that stuff and doesn't just look for quick and easy ways to do it (that might contradict or look too convenient.)

He didn't need to give those characters nicknames at all.

Right. He could've left that to the solo movies to come up with that stuff - the nicknames and the logos. The files could've been more basic, not look like Lex had some free time to play around with his LexCorp graphics.

Gal was fantastic in this movie. There was more of her than I was expecting, given that I was led to believe that it was a really small role. But still not enough for me. I think she shone the most brightly out of all of the characters and every time she was on screen it was something special. I could easily have been content following her plot for the whole movie instead of Batman or Superman's.

And I think she has more charisma than Henry Cavill. There is definitely something magical and compelling about her that just makes you want to watch more of her.

BTW, I didn't think it was such a bad movie. It was a little slow in the first half and a little too much philosophising about things, a bit like Star Trek the Slow Motion Picture. But it eventually picked up. Gal always held my interest though. Can't believe we've had WW on the big screen.

I also enjoyed WW's theme and it gave me chills when it played that and we saw her burst into action.

So given the recently released deleted scene from DoJ and Diana's comment about killing monsters from other worlds before, does anyone think that it's possible for Wonder Woman's solo movie villain to be Yuga Khan (i.e. Darkseid's father)?

There was a bit of interaction between Wonder Woman and the New Gods, particularly Orion in the New52 version of Wonder Woman, which may have prompted the script writer to look outside of Wonder Woman's normal villains. And it would potentially help the "world building" for the DC movie universe and would hopefully position Wonder Woman well in terms of a leadership role in the Justice League films.

What deleted scene is there from BvS?

And also

Was there ever actually a dance scene between Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince, or was it just that people thought there was one from the photos? Or was there one and it was cut?

This is the deleted scene:

There was never a dance scene between Bruce and Diana. The photo (from the Sword of Alexander scene) just reminded people of Bruce and Diana dancing in the Justice League animated series.

yeah, the second Bruce/Diana meeting photo looks like occur in a party, and so people speculated that there'd be a dancing scene.

as for the killing monsters from "other worlds" remark, we may see it in WW solo movie. Circe could easily summon creatures from other dimensions.

I thought there was a deleted WW scene people were talking about, not a deleted Lex scene. Why do I want to know about him instead of Gal? :argh:

I thought there was more urgency and intrigue in Diana's plot than Clark's. I mean, she and Bruce had fun scenes with each other, got to play off of each other (and Clark didn't get this chance). Both were on a mission to break into Lex's files. Clark/Superman was more reacting to other people, even Lois seemed to be doing more, going out looking for evidence.
