No post, but just a reminder of what's gonna be the main source of inspiration for Tivo posts this weekend.

Again...this is not Rick Flag..

You'd almost be right here. Except for the fact that you're not.
That Black Panther suit will look sick on screen. Its like Batman but even cooler cuz its not some homemade getup.
Wut.
Alfred, I know you're a classically trained thespian and all but you're being a tad overly dramatic there. Maybe you're just humoring your employer?
I've personally never understood the sheer look of surprised horror or the ''My God'', to be honest. I mean, are we supposed to get from this that Alfred suddenly finds Bruce scary, just because he's put on a mask and changed his demeanor? Criminals are supposed to find Batman scary, not someone who has effectively raised him since he was a child and waits on him almost 24/7.
It's the first time he saw him dressed as Batman, so it's not that strange. I believe the point of the scene was to show that the costume really works when it comes to making Bruce appear like a monster.
I think the reason why it doesn't gel with me is BOTH the look of horror and the ''My God'' - if it was one of the other, I don't think I'd have a problem with it. As I said, just seems a tad overly dramatic of Alfred, as is.
That I agree with. Scared look alone would be enough. This further continuation of that reaction does make his behavior a bit over-dramatic.
The old ham. Royal Shakespeare Company training, you see. Never leaves you.![]()
It's an animated film with exaggerated expressions and an operatic tone. I think you guys are nitpicking a bit much. It is a heightened moment, but I love it. I don't care if it's a bit over the top, that is part of the joy.
Good gosh some of you are killjoys. Geez Louise.
That entire film had plenty of over-dramatic moments and I loved them.especially where Alfred meets The Batman.
Did someone legitimately critique the exaggerated expression of a character that exists in a medium that is partially defined by its over-expressiveness?
Never change, Hype...never change.
I did. And I guess by your logic no character reaction can be too over the top or 'overly expressive' in that medium; if they laugh they should roll around on the floor with tears streaming down their cheeks or they should drop to their knees crying ''WHY? For the love of God, WHY?!" if they spill some milk?
Haha.
I DO find Alfred's reaction to be kind of over the top in that suit up sequence, but it's not "bad". They coud have toned it down a little bit.

Look, over-the-topness is the nature of the medium. Obviously, it still needs to work within the context and tone of the show...which it did.
Why are you forcing that perspective? There is a difference between "expressive" and "over the top." You make it sound like all animation is wacky antics.
No, DaScribe is actually right. It's not just a matter of perspective. Exaggeration is one of Disney's 12 Basic Principles of Animation. Lifelike movements and expressions look dull and lifeless in animation. Exaggeration is necessary.
Okay...I still think that moment is slightly forced. I guess it's just me![]()
Nah, it's not just you. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree with Da-Scribe and DKDetective.
So.....some people are disappointed in the ACTING of the cartoon character Alfred.....I always said.....they should have hired Barney Rubble.....that guy can act.
A little piece of my soul dies every time I read those posts.
I have this reaction.
When anyone talks about hair color in regards to casting
![]()
Seriously, you can dye it, bleach it, shave it, slap a wig on it, or leave it as is. IT DOESN'T MATTER! Oh, you mean to tell me that the promo artwork of Gal Gadot looks like she's got dark brown hair instead of WW's usual black? HOW F***ING FASCINATING!!! Now, let's debate for MONTHS to come about Chris Pine's hair! Should he be blonde? HOW blonde? Light blonde, dirty blonde, what? Why not red? Let's give him red hair! Preferably something close to that Ronald McDonald color. Why not?
I guess what I'm trying to say is this: I don't care anymore. Find something else to nitpick to death.
I usually try to refrain from TIVO'ing my own stuff, but goddammit, I was ridiculously on point here...

As much as I want to ridicule those people complaining about Marisa Tomei, it really doesn't help that she looks no older than 40.
