Wow! The NEW (Hype!) TiVo Can Do So Much! - Part 6

People are too dumb to understand Snyder's movies.

I think you are not mentally mature enough to understand Snyder's vision - but fear not, you are not a minority in these boards it seems. Some people enjoy to use their brain when going to the movies and see the bigger picture behind a vision. Snyder definitely wasnt the fault that JL bombed at the box office, that was WB and Whedons fault. Your just toxic and hate Snyder. :whatever:

We're taking an awful lot about the costume, but something that's been on my mind is that I just hope that the first time we see it, it's something dynamic.

That first pic of Bale crouched down in that pose with the cape flowing around him? Dynamic.

A black and white pic of Affleck moping in a warehouse? Not dynamic.

Nah. The Batfleck reveal was god-tier. I stared at that pic for hours in total.

...................................................................................................................................................... sure.

I'm looking at some early reactions to the Batfleck reveal in the BvS forums.

This was yours:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:awesome::awesome::awesome:

Bah Gawd...

It would seem that you liked it... a lot. I mean, most of us did. Sigh.

I don't think Johnson is likely at all. She doesn't have the sex appeal, and also, I really doubt WB is gonna want a Twilight and a 50 Shades of Grey (which was literally a fanfic of Twilight) as their leads. It's way too distracting, and if they're worried about "contamination" of the brand and marketing in terms of not casting MCU actors they'd probably be more worried about this. They want people to forget about Twilight, all Dakota Johnson as Catwoman would do is more or less scream Twilight into your face.

Also, neither Reeves or WB are gonna jump from Joaquin Phoenix to a C-level actor. That's just not going to happen.

Even if she's amazing, I really don't see it happening. I think Reeves is aware of how much of a nightmare that'd be in terms of marketing and in presenting the movie to the public. This movie is obviously very personal to him and I don't think he'd want people to be too distracted by "50 Shades of Grey" and "Twilight" to pay attention to what he's trying to say with the film. He and WB would rather have the film have its own identity rather than a quasi-pop culture continuation of B mom soft porn movies.

There are actresses just as good and even better than Johnson out there that wouldn't be as controversial.

It's kind of a logical conclusion. They don't even want MCU actors because of concerns of contaminating the brand. Why would they want their film to be seen as a Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey crossover by the public?

The difference is High School Musical was 10 years ago. 50 Shades of Grey is recent as hell.

If Nicholas Hoult was Batman then maybe she and Kirsten Stewart would be names to seriously consider but I really don't think WB or Reeves are gonna want this film to be seen as a Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey crossover by people... which is what it'd look like to a lot of people.

Robert Pattinson by his own is fine.
Robert Pattinson combined with a 50 Shades of Grey lead would be an absolute PR and marketing nightmare that wouldn't allow neither of those actors to change their public image and would make the film lose its identity. I really don't think it'd happen.

Again... you can cast a controversial lead in your movie, but you can't cast two controversial leads from franchises closely linked to one another in your movie without the film losing its identity.

No. I don't think that'd be the case at all. If it was just Pattinson, then yeah it'd shut people up. If it was just Johnson, then yeah it'd shut people up.

But both?

It's gonna look bad for a lot of people, especially for a trailer.

Any scene they show of them together is basically screaming "TWILIGHT AND 50 SHADES OF GREY". It's too distracting.

Again... they're both known for bad romance movies, and they'd both play a romance/relationship with a bunch of sexual tension in this movie.

You cast them both and the trailer is not gonna change people's minds, it's just gonna look weird and offputting for a lot of people.

Look, if you think that WB can show a scene of Robert Pattinson and Dakota Johnson in a romantic/sexual tension setting without "Twilight" and "50 shades of Grey" looming through their heads, then god bless you but realistically there's no scenario in which that isn't the case lmao.
Plus even without all that baggage I'm not a supporter of her in the role either because, much like Nicholas Hoult as Batman, nothing about her looks remotely suggest "Catwoman" to me.

You should have just said that and been done with it.

Thre thing is I also firmly believe she's ridiculously unlikely and I'm gonna die on that hill as well. lol. Heck, I think she's so unlikely that Charlize Theron has more chances regardless of her age and she's also extremely unlikely.

Well, WB isn't just gonna come out there and say "We'd never cast Dakota Johnson as Catwoman" but just by inferring I find it very likely that they wouldn't want her.

WB executives had to approve the Pattinson casting and they were torn on it, Reeves had to convince them with the screentests. I see no scenario in which WB executives approve Dakota as Catwoman.

Tell us more o sight seer

That's what they say but WB executives still need to approve the casting and if there's a choice other than Johnson they're gonna push that choice hard. In a screentest she'd likely suffer the same fate Cilian Murphy and Hoult did since, compared to literally any other choice, she looks the less like Selina so I don't exactly see them being sold based on that. And again, I guarantee you, put Pattinson and Johnson in a romantic scene and the thought of "50Shades" and "Twilight" would be present on anyone that watches that screentest. There's no way around it. Reeves may make the film, but WB makes the contracts and pays the actors. They both need to agree. Reeves can't just cast someone WB flat out doesn't want. It's a collaborative process.

And lol. WB doesn't need to say "We'd never cast Dakota Johnson as Catwoman" more than they need to say 'We'd never cast Kristen Stewart" or "We'd never cast Miles Teller as Batman".

It's just obvious if you think about it. Nobody wants that baggage around this movie.

Please stop talking about studio decisions and screen tests and executives and on and on...

We don’t know nothing!

By the logic of "We can't infer anything" then we could talk about Kirsten Stewart as if she was genuine possibility even if it's more than obvious by inferrence she won't even be considered.

I think it's time for this....

It's not even about hotness, any actress can work out to make her body look better.

It's more Nicholas Hoult as Batman, I just don't see "Selina Kyle" in her face.

Also she's a PR nightmare and a terrible idea but I won't get into that again.

There's absolutely no scenario in which you can show Dakota Johnson and Pattinson in a romantic scene without "Twilight" and "50 Shades" just constantly being in audience's heads. For the majority of general audiences it'd suck them out of the movie. It's too distracting.

Lord have mercy!! I don't know whether to laugh or be baffled and speechless at all that.

That's some kind of special right there.

I don't think the 50 Shades films were ever as infamous as the Twilight films, anyway. I don't think most people know who Dakota Johnson is?

I now find myself rooting for her, lol.

I mean, she's not my top pick or anything, but I don't think she'd be bad.

What that guy refuses to see is that she has actually taken a similar path to Pattinson. She is working with prestige/auteur directors, but that guy is something. ATJ as Batman - Johnson as Catwoman and homeboy is off to arkham, believe that.

You guys, I'm starting to think Invader Joker doesn't like Dakota Johnson for this role...

Dakota comes from acting heritage for sure, does it make her the ideal for the part ? No chance.

Invader Joker in two weeks, when Johnson is formally cast....

I really hope she is cast now just so I can see his head explode, LOL!!!!

On the topic of Johnson, yeah...50 Shades movies sucked. Really badly. But I have liked her in several other movies I have seen her in, such as Suspiria remake and Bad Times at the El Royale. So I think she would be fine.

She's not my top choice, but she is a fine actress, and the reaction would be so gold, how could you not enjoy it?

This is the first I've heard of this Johnson stuff. I've got a crazy notion...just hear me out...Pattinson's Batman...doesnt have a love interest. Crazy I know.

Seriously, ffs, Batman has had a love interest in every film. Even in TDKR which partly dealt with him grieving for Rachel and overcoming that grief he managed to hook up with not one but two of the female leads. Just do a Batman detective story focusing on Bruce/Batman and leave the bargain bin romance shenanigans out for once.

Just a casual saturday morning stroll through the Zack Snyder thread.

I'd like to think I'd have the self awareness to and perspective to know I was kicked off because I failed, and then let it go. This guy is intentionally drawing it out for months and months, it's just sad. His DC movies repeatedly weren't hitting box office expectations and were low in ratings. Cause. Effect.

You left out his response to my question that you quoted above.
No, I didn't mean to post that. I was going to say that he's using the Justice League controversy to stay as relevant as he can until he has an actual project that he can do interviews and publicity on.
