What, turning X-Men into a comedy? They won't use that aspect certainly.
That's not what he stated. That's my point everyone was jumping on a bandwagon of him mentioning GOTG as if that's how they want an X-Men film to be. I hope I never see the day where they use that film as the template for a X-Men movie.
Yeah, I doubt there are many tears being shed at Fox. And any time an exec might get the sniffles over XMA's BO, all he has to do is think about that other X-Men film from February and it's all rainbows and unicorns again. Speaking of which, Deadpool is having a nice little run in its final territory, Japan, and just hit $780 million WW this weekend. So combined with XMA, the franchise is less than $10 million away from topping $1.3 billion for the year. Not too shabby.

I stated the poetry thing because it's seem an evident thing to do in space, they can use those kind of idea to inspirenthem for XMen movies.
You stated that the original post clearly states that he thought the GOTG film was similar in tone to Claremont's 80s run in X-Men with alien entities and the tone imo is quite different. Everyone is trying to interpret what was stated rather than just read.

Speaking of interpretation, how about we wait until Haller posts again so he can further explain what he meant. I know one thing, he never used the word 'comedy'. It's definitely an aspect of Guardians, but I suspect his definition was broader when comparing it to Claremont, which me and ApophènX seem to have taken as such.
Agreed I have no idea what everyone is agreeing with him about that for or is talking about. I owned the "Brood vs. Kitty" comic and it was a horror scifi not a damn comedy.... and the DPS was a tragedy. One of the leads massacres an entire planet then commits suicide. You really think that's similar in tone to GOTG? Really?

Apocalypse is projected to be number 6 for weekend with 5 million bringing it up to 146 million total.which means Apocalypse has just about tied the unadjusted domestic gross of First Class and the adjusted domestic gross of the Wolverine.
It's holding up much better than say TMNT Is doing.
Apocalypse is up to 510 Million WW.146 Million domesticly and 364 million oveaseas.
Apocalypse has very good chance at matching or top the adjusted domestic gross of First class which is 156 million.the unadjusted domestic gross of first X-Men Is 157 Million.Which way it is holding up a final domestic gross of
160 million is possable. It's holding up much better than TMNT and Me before
you which opened after apocalypse.
let's remember fox greenlighted sequels to first class and the wolverine with
first class-146 Million Domesticly+207 Million Oveaseas=353 Million WW
The wolverine-132 Million Domesticly+282 Million Oveaseas=414 Million WW
Days of future past and weapon x or death of logan proves fox does care
about foregin Box office.
so far APocalypse has 146 million domesticly+364 Million+510 Million WW
It has followed the FC and the wolverine path of making enough to warrent a
sequel.the one thing against it is the 178 million budget. But then again first class had a 160 million budget so sequel is still possable
If you view apocalypse as more a first class sequel as Bryan Singer and simon Kinberg once said then Apocalypse was then it did fine.
Fact remains there are plenty who went to see apocalypse who liked it.even
at RT it has a 73% liked.while critics liked last stand and the wolverine more
than apocalypse audences liked apocalypse better than those films.
The estimated global total is now at 510M WW.
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
With a $12.8M weekend propelled largely by $8.7M out of China, the international cume has mutated to $364.1M. As noted above, that China number lifts the total there to $111.6M and 732M rmb to make XMA the biggest pic ever in the Fox franchise for that market. In a total 49 markets, this frame saw solid results from France ($737K/$15.1M cume), the UK ($530K/$25.66M), Germany ($352K/$8.74M), Brazil ($284K/$18M) and Mexico ($269K/$18.7M). Japan is still to come on August 11.

I think we reached point where fox is more likely to do sequel to apocalypse and not reboot.while it's up in air does fox wait for next X_men film with spin-offs coming to allow bryan Singer to return after doing 20,000 leagues under the sea.does singer oversea things like first class with new director, does fox bring in entirely new director/producer to work with Kingberg.
if we got sequels to first class and the wolverine with less money made than apocalypse
we probally get sequel to apocalypse.it's more when not if i think now.
It's all about expectations and you can be damn sure after the success of DOFP and Deadpool, FOX were expecting ALOT more of Apocalypse.
This will barely match First Class numbers when adjusted for inflation, five years later. It won't even be in the top 10 films worldwide come the end of the year.
FOX won't hit the reboot button quickly, but with Jackman leaving and this cast garnering a luke warm reception, they will be considering their options carefully.
