Apocalypse X-Men Apocalypse News and Discussion - - - - - Part 14

Wait, time out. It was a Mega Issue that all they wore was black, and now they're not, it's still an issue? Somebody help me out.

If the core X-Men are getting suits with color, why not Mystique and QS?

Pretty sure I saw Jean and Cyke on the same aircraft in dark outfits. Perhaps these are their training outfits and those get more colourfuls ones with perhaps As and Mystique too

There will always be whining with X-Men.:yay:

I for one am loving pretty much everything except the black in Mystique, QS, and Apoc.

Everything to me looks friggin incredible. Holy crap. I love waking up to this in the morning. Just awesomeness. It's funny that they're actually going with that 80s vibe and going all out with looks like people always wanted and now the same people are complaining. I agree with someone who posted earlier that they don't care what they're dressed in but as long as the character is great. Which Singer always nails.

QFT

I love how the outfits are comic accurate but also battle appropriate. They still have that armour, battle look to them. Psylocke is just perfection.

they went from super dark and gritty costuming and visuals last time around (which fit for the story) to a muffinfarmin' cartoon
balance Singer, balance

How is it a cartoon when we have seen nothing except the Horsemen which are dressed in dark color. What color exactly are you talking about? It's the 80s so of course it will be some color and we have t even seen the main teams costume if they have any.

She does look great but personally I'd have liked the full body costume. There's no faulting this as an adaption of the costume it's based on though.

Interesting that Fox is the first to do the swimsuit-kini style costume which many women in the comics wear but hasn't been used on screen as its kinda sexist.

It will be interesting to see if the costume gets any flack for being a swimsuit.
Personally I think if Munn is happy to wear it then its fine, if she didnt they could easily do legs but I would imagine she has said its okay :)

I'm pretty sure Olivia Munn is fine with the costume.... she used to wear cosplay outfits when she was doing her G4 Tv show.

There was a thing recently about a dad finding a slave Leia figure offensive to his little daughter.

A cosplayer responded about loving the costume and it being empowering. If plenty women are okay with revealing costumes should that remove them being sexist?

The thing is that swimsuits on Olympic athletes look very elegant and beautiful in design, and not at all overly sexual. You don't think of sex immediately, but something very sporty and athletic. And this is the vibe that Psylocke's costume gives off. It doesn't look overly sexy at all. It's a beautiful costume. I hope this will challenge other costume designers and make them rethink their belief that the swimsuit automatically looks sexualised.

I hope to see more similar costumes for other women in comic movies, especially in the MCU. Scarlet Witch, Elektra and Carol Danvers all have swimsuit-like costumes. They could be made to look as good and respectable as Psylocke's if they took inspiration from this. I've honestly had enough of the generic jumpsuit which is so utterly boring and bland.

The kids look great. Apocalypse... less so. He was always gonna be a hard sell, and honestly one character that could have benefitted from Singer's toned down style. I'm sure Isaac will kill it though so I'm optimistic to see him in action.

My biggest gripe is the lack of effort put into aging these cast members. It's been 20 years since First Class.

I think they were very conscious of how it would look. Which is why it doesn't actually look like a swimsuit but it looks like battle gear. The boots are high enough and with the gloves to me it looks fantastic. I'm actually glad they went with this look because it fits the time period. I think if she were in the future it wouldn't look right. But she can get away with it.

I'm sure it could work in the future, because it doesn't look very 80s at all, but even like it could be something modern or futuristic.

Even with the thigh-high boots, it manages not to look stripperific.

Definitely but modern times work against the look overall. I would say the future setting would have her in a full outfit. But it works a lot more due to it being the 80s. Just like Emma Frost there was no complaint about her look in the 60s because it really fit with the time and with that spy thriller aspect of the story. But if Emma was walking a around in that outfit in the future it just wouldn't fit.

Why Mystique and Beast are in human form if people accepted mutants? And why at X-Mansion, at home? Movie with so big budget, and can’t actors walk with makeup the whole movie?
Xavier with long hair looks younger than 20 years ago. Should go bald same as in timeline where Apocalypse wasn’t awaked. Where are wrinkles?
Magneto looks same as 10 years ago. Still short hair, no grey hair.

We already have manipulated cult of Sebastian Shaw. Horseman should be brainwashed. So we won’t see Warren taking revenge on Apocalypse. He joined Apocalypse, because he wanted it, and next will fight against Apocalypse just like that? Same with Storm, IMO Apocalypse has to do something later in movie, they will turn against him.
Hope Apocalypse will be bigger in movie, and he’s so small here just because CGI isn’t added, also his voice has to be deeper. I know they will add CGI, but not interested in 6ft tall Apo in talk scenes, he should be like 6’6-7ft tall in his normal height, not Magneto’s size.
Dark lips or GTFO...
What I like, his costume, because I wanted something similar to Stargate (1994), it always resembled Apocalypse for me, as I wanted him to look in movie.
Should look like this:

There was something about FOH in 80’s in 25moments if I remember good.

,, “normal” life in Poland”
In 1983 in Poland we had martial law.

I love this manip. Looks perfect. And it's such small details like the lip and the eyes.

They should release another still of Apocalyps, one where he isn't being bathed in purple light making him look that colour

I hope the swimsuit style starts and ends with Psylocke.
