Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - Part 10

Fox is always late in the marketing, they use to be the last studio to release trailers.
Maybe thats a part of the problem?
There is no logic reason for the X-Men to have worse numbers than almost all superhero movies these past years (aside from Dofp I mean)

What else is coming out?

Today was the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts
and it also seems that the first aquaman trailer that will only be released in December, will now be show in March
so I think the fox will not take much longer than the month of March to show the first trailer.

is one of the problems
fox has always been a little lost in marketing strategy in his films, especially in the x-men franchise
but I think this delay with darkphoenix, is the fear of what happened in apocalypse, which was one mistake after another, in each trailer he was in a different voice :woot:
but anyway, it's time to show something official.

I may be in the minority in this case, but I dont mind the wait. I mean, almost the whole world is ready now for Infinity War, so in that sense its not that bad of an idea to wait some weeks or a month after its release to "move" to X-Men.

On other hand, Avengers IW will be one of the biggest hits of the year, if not the biggest, so Fox attaching the X-Men teaser there would mean showing it to the largest audience possible this year. That can only help X-Men.
With Deadpool 2 would be the second strongest option. so any case its fine by me

Given that Kinberg and Donner have a close relationship with Iger and the Donners actually mentored Feige, it wouldn't be unreasonable to see it play with Infinity War.

As for X-Men having wack marketing? X2, The Last Stand, Origins: Wolverine and Days of Future Past had amazing marketing regardless of what you think of those movies. First Class didn't. Apocalypse didn't. Deadpool did. Logan did.

I want to see what the marketing of the movie is going to be
for me the xmen movie with the best marketing strategy was DOFP
those videos showing the powers of each mutant, was something very well thought out

it's possible
the fox event that they are going to talk about the future releases will be April 26, the same day of the debut of IW, we can have the trailer being first shown in the fox event, then released online and on the same day being displayed during infinity war
it would be very good.

now that you mention X2, from what I remember, they did quite a few interviews with the whole cast together, Hugh, James, Anna, Famke, Shawn... you know, the X-Men. But that didnt happen with Apocalypse and the interviews Fox did had the cast split. Sophie, Evan here, Tye, Alexandra and Ben there.... there wasnt a sense of an ensemble marketing, mainly talking about the tv interviews. Its like in a sense, Fox wasnt really selling the X-Men as a team (a topic a lot of fans have discussed regarding the actual movies too). Interesting, nonetheless

Plus the fact that Dark Phoenix money will be Disney's money by the time the deal is closed, I'm sure they'll want it to do well.

Apocalypse had **** marketing, especially after Days of Future Past. Hell, the most hype for it was the end credits of Days of Future Past.

Remember DoFP? The Wolverine end credits -> ComicCon trailer -> Trask Industries website -> first trailer -> Bent Bullet website -> 25 second Instagram second trailer teaser -> Amazing Spider-Man 2 end credits scene -> second trailer -> 25 moments website -> 25 EW magazine cover variations -> so many other teasers.

A names trailer would be a nice call back to end the current FoX-Men xD

Yeah I feel like they could do a lot with the whole national hero thing. And the fact that it's set in the 90s...but we'll see.

Yeah that was quite a journey. So much HYPE. I even remember expecting to see some of the Bent Bullet website events on the movie but it didn't happen :(

Days of Future Past had better trailers, but the 5 month wait between the first two was brutal.

The Last Stand had very good marketing. Does anyone else remember the 7 minute sneak peek that Fox did for it?

We finally have a team. Showcase them, give them personalities, no one cares about stupid surprises if your characters are non entities.

I'm sorry but I don't trust Kinberg to helm multiple villains but also concentrate on the X-men.

I doubt there's a huge fight scene like that. It'll be too reminiscent of Avengers and they seem to want to distinguish themselves by making this a "drama movie" "intimate" "focused on characters", etc. It'll probably something more low-key like the DOFP third act.
Hopefully :cwink:
