Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - Part 10

Fox is always late in the marketing, they use to be the last studio to release trailers.
Maybe thats a part of the problem?
There is no logic reason for the X-Men to have worse numbers than almost all superhero movies these past years (aside from Dofp I mean)

There are several logic reason.

A) Disney is the best at marketing. There is not another brand name that can attract people thanks to the brand itself.

B) Fox's target are 14-35 while Marvel Studios 6 -35. That's means that Fox are not interesting (also 'cause it made not merchandising) to over-semplificate feelings, but also visual (infilming-style as in costumes)

C)The core of X-Men is the themes (and the themes were always been more important than the presence of the single character).

X-Men's outcast-themes are not popular today (you can say it looking at politc: in a great part of world, usa included, we have at power almost-nazi party).

I don't say X-Men's movies are a spikelee-like fil, but there is a certain space for social themes. Much more than in Disney/Marvel Studios.

take at Disney: even a movie like Black Panther tells really nothing about outcast-social's issue. (well, you can take the all movie ant put in eastern europe with all white e nothing changes.).

The points C and part of B (visual in filmmaking) are fundamental for me and that are the reason i don't love Disney.

At the same time i think Fox often missing the courage to try a mix between the grounded and the popysh culture (like it will be have really costumes).

But at the end i don't care about gross

Umm Fox caters to kids if they want to. They distributed DreamWorks animated films before and they own Blue Sky Studios. They also released Alvin and the Chipmunks movies which Simon Kinberg should be transfered to as an overseer and director and writer.

Yes a rehash of X-Men the Last Stand.

If intolerance is rising in the world, then outcast themes are more relevant. Not less.

I can't stop laughing. My stomach is actually aching from laughing so hard.

you missing the point.

Of course is more relevant.
But for fewer people, if the highest number of people vote for nazionalist party.

Sure.
If they want to.

That's the point, luckily

if only Fox didnt cater for Fassbender and Lawrence fans only....
but, we arent that lucky. its all about "the biggest stars". Not about the characters

I don't mind that part of the focus is on Erik. He's one of the most interesting characters, in my opinion.

It just seems like they are at a loss how to handle his arc though.

Hmmm.. Kinda like when the X-Men were created during the height of the Civil Right Era....

if each movie spends a lot of time on Erik's "arc", the movies wont ever develop certain X-men and others would be left with not enough screentime, when they need it. Are you fine with that?

I never said it had to spend a lot of time on him, I just wished they were able to find a balance with the other characters too.

Damn, this thread is so hostile. :funny:

Foxs staple tentpole projects are mostly adult orientated like Planet of the apes, Independence Day, Alien, Die Hard, Kingsman along with Xmen.

They just released Ferdinand a few months ago and they will release more animated films. The point is the studio isn't an adult oriented studio as some people as think they are. Especially a lot of their films are also targeted to "teens" which I wouldn't classify as adults especially the ones under legal age.

I should have said their live action films. Point is those kind of films from Fox dont get published by Disney because they have a much more stricter target audience which fits into their PR and marketing campaigns.

No, Fox released live action films like those Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Alvin and the chipmunks, Miss Peregrine, teen movie Paper Towns and the Longest Ride.

And what films are you talking about that wouldn't be released by Disney? Maze Runner? X-Men? Fantastic Four? Independence Day? Umm no. I would agree with the r rated flicks but those films aren't eXactly too adult oriented.

most of the films that will be released in november are already with their first trailer released
so I think at most in 2 weeks we will finally see the dark phoenix trailer.

Horrible reaction to X-MEN: Apocalypse marketing has made this marketing freaking non existent

there was nothing hostile about my comment lol. It was a honest question.
And the problem with Kinberg is he cant find the balance, well, its not that he cant but mostly he doesnt want to. So yeah, its a huge problem that will hurt the x-men sequel after sequel, and at some point people end leaving the franchise (viewers and fans I mean), just like we have seen.

He's just not a great writer. At least Singer who cherry picked X-Men characters to be treated fairly has a better track record in cb films.

This franchise needs someone that really knows the history of the X-Men that doesn't play favorites and doesn't have randoms like Negasonic or villains like Mystique get importance than the Actual X-Men.

Well the original Dark Phoenix Saga has a huge battle on the moon so I would be dissappointed if we don't get something like that.

But as I said I don't expect it.
Yeah, I don't think we should expect something like that. But I don't mind it being something that feels smaller in scale but has a emotional impact similar to DOFP, which had a perfect balance imo. And I certainly don't want to see anything like Team vs 100. I've had enough of that in The Avengers movies. Especially when it seems like IW is doing it AGAIN :o

You are in for a treat as I don't think it would come close to the scale of IW. The X-Men have always been small scaled in the comics so why change that. :o

well, if the rumor is true and there is an alien invasion and the x-men will fight them, we can definetly expect that type of battle on this movie too. The main difference maybe being that is doesnt take place in the final act. But there is always a big fight at the end, I highly doubt the final arc of this movie is just Jean talking to the X-Men and she saying bad words :woot:

Fine with me. I don't mind if DP is more epic than the previous X-movies, I just don't want to see an another vs1000 "epic" fight.
I would like to see Dazzler and Psylocke slay some aliens!
Is she confirmed to appear though? Or just rumored?
