Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

I think it will be in the middle of the movie or in the beginning of the 3rd act
since according to the rumors, in the scene of the UN there are people protesting against and in favor of the mutants
and by the rumors at the beginning of the film, the mutants are being treated as heroes by the population, so I think something bad will happen, again generating hatred of part of the population against the mutants.

Makes sense. Although im sure I read somewhere they are protesting against mutants being allowed into political offices, like Beast who ends up as secretary for mutant affairs in the future.

to many rumors about this, I've read somewhere, that in this scene, xavier will receive a "prize" from the UN for saving astronauts. and groups some people from society were not liking government and part of society is seeing the mutants as heroes, so they were protesting, but we would have a better view of this scene, if we knew if the jean is accompanying the professor with the cyclop or is already in the place as "dark phoenix", why if she is accompanied by the prof x, so it's at the beginning of the movie, now if she's not following them, that scene is probably going to be in the middle or in the 3 act of the movie.

I'm fairly certain there will be a [blackout]Jean loses her **** at the mansion scene that results in Raven's death.[/blackout]

[BLACKOUT]I don't think it will be at the mansion. Id imagine jean probably needs to be out of her comfort zone or in huge emotional stress and not just having flip out at the mansion[/BLACKOUT]

Jean also [blackout]flipped out at the mansion[/blackout] in X3.

Jean flipped out at the mansion in X3.

Presumably Jean will be more herself or self more aware in this movie then she was in X3 where she wasn't in control most of the time.

They filmed a Central Park scene right? Both actually in Central Park and a model?

Yea they dressed up part of an entrance of a park in Montreal to look like Central Park.

Crossing fingers.

In the comic she flips the **** out first in Central Park and second at her father's house and almost kills him before the X-Men arrive.

Did they also film in the real Central Park? I live in NYC and remember hearing rumors about it but not sure if it was confirmed.

Yea I do vaguely remember hearing about possibly second unit filming in NYC.

I don’t know why you quoted (corrected?) me but not the original poster who questioned it.

Well this is what thelocationguide.com said

The latest instalment in the X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix, will see the series return to Montreal on August 20th. The production will incur a five day shoot at Mount Royal, doubling the site for New York’s Central Park before moving to a different location.

Wow. That's some "major" reshoots there. They must be restructuring the whole film! I guess Kinberg sure knows how to stretch that alleged 'under 10 million budget' for this.

On a more serious note, does this suggest the New York Central Park scene is in the third act since the rumor was: "the third act needs some reworking"?

The article's from 2017, aka way before they postponned the movie, so it's very likely that things, the duration of reshoots have changed.

Yeah because Infinity War 2 is perfect and will never ever need any reshoots. Oh wait...

Despite changing the Shi'ar and cutting some of the cosmic elements to make the storyline more grounded it sounds like we are getting a film that will be atleast somewhat faithful to the film, it all depends on the execution of it all.

If rumors are true:

We have the X-Men on a space mission to save astronauts where Jean absorbs the threat to them and sends destruction into another planet alerting aliens.

We have an origin that involves Jean being in a car accident which awakens her powers and feeling someone's dying thoughts. Although she's in the car and it's her mother and not her friend.

We have her Central Park fight sequence.

We have the sequence were we learn her father has rejected her when she returns home.

We have the scene with her wanting to see Cyclops's eyes and holding back his beams.

We also have her sacrificing herself at the end.

Adapting some scenes from the comics is all well and good but it's also the characters and characterisation that will make or break this.

Having Mystique dominate (when she was never even part of the Phoenix Saga) and Storm reduced to a mute mannequin is not gonna cut it.

While no one knows if Storm will be a "mute mannequin" this is the film series and not the comics so they won't change the film's layout to fit in with the comic storyline structure.

And this overall treatment is nothing different to what Marvel or WB do with their movies.

The MCU is just better at spreading the characterisation and giving people moments, motivations and emotions.

Even in a huge ensemble like Infinity War, this was achieved far better than in most of the X-Men films. Not to mention Thanos and his four henchmen were exactly what Apocalypse and his henchmen should have been.

Fox's persistence in grounding these films means the more fantastical stuff stands out like a sore thumb and is often not achieved convincingly. Beast never looks right, Apocalypse didn't look right, Mystique rarely looks right...

Meanwhile, the MCU embraces the material and makes Thanos, Rocket Raccoon and Groot seem as real and believable as ever

(Let's not get into the DCU, which is not getting it right either)

Well now you are talking about something completely different altogether.

Umm Thanos goons had NO characterization at ALL.At least The Horseman you got to learn something... anything about them at all.

Storm's explanation about why she hated humans and sided with Apocalypse was cut from the movie.

That was her one key moment where we could go 'ah, that's how she feels, that's who she is.'

But it's on the cutting room floor.

You got to know something about each ones background in Apocalypse. You learn nothing about TBO. Let's not do the revisionist history thing to make IW seem superior.
