Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

If they were going to quietly shelve it, why spend the money on the reshoots?
As I have pointed out before....actions like that have been done before.

A studio (don't remember which one off the top of my head) wanted to make a EXORCIST prequel to continue the franchise. They shot the entire movie (Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist).....and decided it was terrible, and shelved it. They got new writer and director, kept some of the actors and got rid of some others....and shot an entire new movie (Exorcist: The Beginning)....they released it...it bombed. A year later they took the first one off the shelf and released it....it bombed. You can get both movies in the $1.00 bin.

I've said this last week and it's worth repeating.
… when Disney sees something that can damage or cheapen the image of their potential franchise, property, and/or company... they'll stand firm against their fiery blow-back... and stand behind their principles.
I didn't even know Disney would use Fox as a corpse-like shield against this film's oncoming negativity.

I'm not sure if I should be impressed or terrified that their reach is so vast in the industry.

I've always been excited and at the same time with a little fear about this movie, but most of the time confident for this franchise to end well.
but that killed my hype, there is not much to do, in my opinion the fox for some reason, does not want to release this movie and then they will be putting it off until disney get the rights is with that they get free of this "guilt ",
is when disney has the rights it probably would not be charged by most to release that movie, then it would be good for both of them.

so there's not much else to do, if a trailer is released next year, I might look at it again if I have nothing, at least I'm not more frustrated.

Repeat after me:

This will be released on streaming, not theaters.

Oh man. I can see that for sure, now.

At this point I don't even care anymore how the movie gets released (in theaters or streaming)

I just want to see it

You’ve got to be kidding me.

They finally realease the trailer and then TWO days later push it back to 7 months from now?
Isn't life grand? :p Disappointment is everywhere.

Its getting delayed because Disney is eventually gonna debut it online through Disney Play where you can watch films on demand. Anytime anywhere!
But I don't want to pay for another platform. :( There better be a DVD release.

When it comes to this movie it's like one step forward, two steps back.

Just like back in march. We get some leaked pics, a bit of hype and bam, it gets delayed.

Now we get a whole teaser and some hype rises again...delayed.

As easy as it has been to be negative about this film I was still getting excited again to finally have the trailer and poster. How can this happen ONE day after a huge marketing campaign? This makes absolutely no sense and really isn't fair to fans who have been waiting in the dark for months with no official word about this film.

..I honestly hope someone just leaks the unfinished version and it gets canned at this point. Someone start a petition, I'll sign it lol.

The 2.14 date is all over Fox's official sites too. Twitter, Instagram, etc. With a link to the DP website in the bio. Smh.

Nnnoooo!!!! :p

Alita and Dark Phoenix are two $200m films and both have very low hype so I can see them trying to do their best to maximize profits. Alita was coming out alongside Bumblebee and Aquaman so that was probably going to flop in December. This PG-13 Deadpool definitely sounds like a Disney test.
I don't think it's a Disney test lololol.
I read they are doing it so it can be released in China

I'm more convinced that Fox and Kevin Feige are already working together.

They are doing this because they plan to bring the Fox X-Men cast into the MCU after Infinity War or Disney wants to use this film as their launching pad for the streaming service, or they know most of their cash will come from China and International Markets.

Uh no.

This is a Disney test too. This way they can say a PG-13 Deadpool can be just as successful an a R rated version.

It's a possibility. We know Avengers 2 is not finished shooting, which leaves possibilities to adjust to potential mergers.

Seriously, it is literally a snap of the finger to combine these two universes, especially when you have reality warping cosmic beings in both films.

But I'm leaning on this is done for the streaming service.

Its over. Ive tried defending this movie the best I can but this is the last straw.
Hope this just goes to streaming or blueray.

R.I.P

Some of the Fox fans. Gueststar, Lensher etc. Though maybe it's just the time of day and how sudden this has happened they haven't seen it yet.

That's what we said about FFINO defenders when Fant4stic came out. Then at all times of the day... month... year... they never showed up. :o

Disney controlling Fox business now would apparently be illegal, so I doubt it. It seems like Fox is self-destructing this entire slate of X-Men. Deadpool 2 in PG-13 for December, Gambit now in calendar for 2020, DP pushed back again. Anything about New Mutants? These are all crazy decisions.

Not entirely. Marvel has producing rights over the Fox films if Fox allows them to execute it.

If they couldn't work together, The Gifted will be canceled right now.
