Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

What are the chances they're removing Jean Grey and Dark Phoenix from the movie entirely? Maybe it will just be a generic X-Men film featuring Mystique, Magneto and Prof X rather than introducing Dark Phoenix into it at this late hour.

or just change the name/villain, and call it "Dark Cyclops", so Tye can take the lead role acting as a villain for his own friends". It would be a clever twist and this way Fox wont piss Marvel Studios/feige, who can make their own Dark Phoenix saga in some years.

not to mention that Cyclops will finally get his big leading role after 19 years. That would be a first.

McKellen was great, especially opposite Patrick Stewart. Fassbender's great too.

But they are not the 'be all and end all' and there's defintely room for another iteration.

These characters are bigger than the actors. That includes Christopher Reeve. That includes Robert Downey Jr.

I fear 3 months of reshoots will not be enough to make Sophie Turner any good as Jean. My biggest concern not named Simon Kinberg.

Screw it, bring Famke back. The series is over anyway haha.

did you all forget this is exactly what the original THR article said? "major reshoots to improve the third act"

well, there u have it. the third act should be around 30-40 min. you know.... one third of the movie.

No, we didn't forget, lol...

But that Cktopl or whatever silly name it's called has been trying to tell us otherwise :oldrazz:

Surely, the film isn't that bad? It sounds unreal that it needs so much work done to it.

Maybe Disney is wanting big changes so it doesn't affect the X-Men's debut in the MCU? Maybe there will be no Dark Phoenix in it after all?

No wonder there hasn't been a trailer yet!

If this is the final film in the Fox universe, it doesn't make sense to introduce Dark Phoenix anyway. First off, they already introduced her in X3 and that was wrapped up. What is this story happening again now with Sophie Turner?

And second, isn't better to just wrap up the other storylines with Charles, Erik and Raven?

I can see them potentially introducing Dark Phoenix if this franchise were continuing under Fox, but since it is ending and has nowhere to go, then what's the point of bringing it in? Just a token tossing of a bone?

That last pic is stunning. And easily the best wig of the whole franchise.

Now I have some hype to see Sophie as Phoenix. Costume included (in case she has one)

I really hope there is no Phoenix costume, it in terms of the comic made no sense once they revealed Phoenix as being a Godly being and not just Super Saiyan Jean Grey.

Lol 3 months? That’s as long as First Class shot.

I'm not surprised.

So it will be delayed again. No way they can finish pos for 3 whole months of reshoots until February.

And that wig is good, but Sophie's hair looked shorter for DP, IIRC.

Your defense is strange. How does choosing to do something for herself that's not even a permanent change make it the best conclusion?

I didn't say it was the best conclusion...not sure why you think I did.

But there has been a trailer along with positive reaction. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean there isn't one. It's not like they don't have material for it and again....their marketing probably won't start until 5 months from release.....just like their last x-men film.

In regard to reshoots, according to the article this info is based on, it's quite clear reshoots are for the "last part" of the film. Not half, not three quarters. No film reshoot take three months to shoot something like that. Even movies that have had 50%-80% re-shot don't take that long in reshoots. :loco: This is obviously based on scheduling. It was already revealed a month or so ago that Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy won't be available to shoot their scenes until some time in October after they wrap shooting on It Chapter 2. The actual reshoot scenes themselves are smaller. :whatever: But oh.....I guess that's silly. Yes, let us ignore all those facts and slip into a state of delirium and stupidity, right X-Maniac? Silly me.....

That's amazing ain't it? The clean up crew ready, at your service.

No where in any of the past articles about the reshoots did it say the "reshoot scenes themselves are smaller." Where did you even get that?

Reshoot schedule is based on actor availability. Articles about reshoots aren't specifying the number of days of actual shooting, merely the scheduled time period. An example is an article about one film stating that several weeks of reshoots would take place. Later on it was shown that the actual actor involved was only available one day each week to shoot out of his schedule. That doesn't mean he was shooting for 3 or so weeks straight.

None of this is new info. We knew they were starting reshoots this month. It was also revealed a while back that 2 actors won't be available for reshoots until 2 months later. Now, common sense suggest that the span of time for reshoots would stretch around a 3 month period. I already knew this a month or so ago....just based on that information.

Apparently it wasn't suppose to be the final film at the time it was shot, but rather part of a new trilogy.

3 months is a lot to reshoot even factoring in schedules. I mean here’s hoping this will make the movie better.

Could they be looking for a way to introduce them to the MCU with the reshoots ?

Can they be changing the Skrulls to just a random alien race?

Wasn't that a retcon after the original storyline? And the Phoenix in this case was functioning as a corrupt doppelganger of the original, so adopting the costume would make sense.
